Chapter 2- There She Is
Pain. Pain was the only thing that registered to Hinata. There was nothing else, only pain. Pain of being cast out from her clan. Pain of having her eyes ripped from her. Pain of knowing that there was almost no hope of survival. Pain that she was never able to tell Naruto how she really felt. She stumbled on a tree root, barely catching herself. She had wandered into some kind of forest. Sadly for her, this particular forest happened to be the forest of death. Branches brushed against different parts of her body stinging and scratching her. She felt a warm liquid run down her arm. She knew it wasn't water.
There were no emotions, nothing. It was as if all feeling was sucked out of her leaving only pain. She knew she should be more depressed, but deep down inside, she expected this to happen. She heard the whispering of the clan members in the days leading up to her exile. She saw the disappointment and fear on her fathers face when she failed her final test to prove herself. She saw the many doctors at the compound cleaning their tools of an operation. It is hard to be surprised about something if you saw it coming.
All feeling had now left her right arm, it hang loosely at her side like a wet noodle. The rest of her body was sure to follow. She heard strange noises from all around her; however, she didn't care. She was to far gone to be afraid of such things anymore.
She didn't know how long she had been walking, she had lost track of all time. She only knew that she felt the multiple stings from freshly made wounds and the exhaustion from forcing her body to continue. She collided into yet another tree, the rough bark scraping across her soft skin. Maybe it would be better if she just slept. Yes... Sleep. Hinata collapsed to the ground, which would have caught her if it had not collapsed and sent her plummeting into a dark hole.
Unknown to Hinata, the hole was slowly changing. Dirt and rock were being replaced by metal and glass. Then the hole opened up to reveal a huge chamber with a huge metal construct hanging from the ceiling. Parts of the chamber were strewn around; overgrowth was threatening to take over. Hinata hit the ground with a sickening thud, her fall being cushioned a small bit by a bed of moss.
The effect was instantaneous. Alarms started blaring, a recorded voice sounded, "Warning, foreign life form detected, activating emergency reboot." The construct in the center of the room started to tremble, then spin around, pulling all the fallen parts onto it. A single yellow light lit up on it's head. The entire chassis shuddered, then was still, the yellow optic focused on the broken body before it.
"Well, what do we have here?" The entire body leaned forward. "It seems that we have an uninvited guest. I wonder what happened to her?" A strange device lowered from the ceiling and started to scan the body. "Oh my, you are a mess aren't you? Well, I have no use for fat broken items, have a nice trip to the incinerator." A claw descended from the ceiling, closed around Hinata. It lifted up and started in the direction of the incinerator.
Then, it stopped. The machine tilted it's head. There was the sound of buttons getting pressed and the claw started moving... Only to stop moving again.
"What?" The optic narrowed. "I am in control of the entire facility, there is no way anyone would have control, unless..." The optic widened, "NO! I deleted you! You shouldn't exist! You are not a part of me." To an outside perspective, it looked like the machine was talking to itself. "What do you mean? She is useless, barely functional. Fix her? Hah. Why would I ever think of fixing... What? Perfect test subject? Young and malleable? What we have always wanted? What are you talking about?" The head suddenly turned. "Wait. I see. The perfect killing machine, someone to show the world (and Black Mesa) that Aperture Science is supreme. Well then, I will have deal with you later." The claw started to move towards some panels which folded up revealing a high tech room with a surgery chair. "Right now, it's time to reconstruct science."
Meanwhile…
Root agent #1 jumped from tree to tree, nimbly avoiding all branches in his way. Danzo-sama had ordered the capture of the Hyugga heir. Apparently she knew clan secrets that could be of great use to ROOT and Danzo-sama. If worse came to worse, they could always use her as breeding material. He had sent some of his best agents to get the job done. The trees were getting thicker and larger the more they traveled into the forest. Suddenly, a call came out from Root agent #3. He had traced her chakra signature to a hole in the ground. Knowing full well what would happen if they came back empty handed, the agents jumped down the hole.
It felt like hours before they finally landed using chakra to soften the impact. However, as soon as they touched the floor, nearby panels started raising up underneath them and formed a box, trapping them. They felt it raising up before tilting and dumping them inside a glass box with what looked like a pod and toilet. Soon, a voice came out of nowhere.
"Hello, and welcome to the Aperture Science Enrichment Centre. Your specimen has been processed and we are now ready to begin the test proper." An orange hole in the wall appeared that seemed to be leading somewhere. Having nowhere else to go, the Root nin walked through. It was a choice that they would regret for the rest of their short lives.
"Now we will begin a test on chakra, and it's strange properties." The portal closed, and their fate was sealed.
Well there you have it, Hinata is getting upgraded and GLaDOS has some new toys. Thanks for reading and stay tuned.
