Snow was everywhere Yen Sid could see as he emerged from the portal. He was expecting fire or volcanos, something that would say 'Welcome to Dragon World' but instead he was covered knee deep in snow.
"Hmm not what I was expecting," said Yen Sid to himself. After getting his bearings, it appeared that he was on top of a mountain. The Grandmaster told him he would be meeting this Oswald person in this world but he was expecting him to be waiting for him by the portal. He begins to walk forward. "Guess I should start by getting down from this mountain."
"What not gonna say hello?" said a mysterious voice that sounded far away. "That's awfully rude of you don't you think?"
Sid stopped and looked around but no one was in sight.
"I was beginning to think ole Caliburn wasn't going to send anybody."
"Show yourself!" shouted Sid. "Are you Oswald?"
The ground below Sid began to rumble.
What is this an earthquake?" thought Sid.
After a few moments, the shaking stopped, and silence once again took over.
"That was weir- gahh," said Sid as he felt someone jump on his back and bring him to the cold ground.
"HELLO!" said the person on Sid's back. Sid pushed him off and summoned his Keyblade, preparing to attack, when he stopped and got a glimpse of the mysterious person…or thing.
"A…talking…rabbit?" said Sid, shocked by what he was seeing. The rabbit was much bigger than those he'd seen at the Land of Departure, it almost came up to Sid's shoulders, and it talked!
"You must be a newbie from Caliburn's world," said the rabbit, "Let's see now…hmmm…" He began to circle around Sid, trying to figure out the wielder. After he'd come to a full circle, he began to talk once more. "Well I know you're not Caliburn's student, I would have known about such a person that's for sure, so that makes you either Master Mesch's student or Virt's. My bets on Virt's."
"Why yes I am or I should say I was, I just recently became a Master myself," said Sid, "and you must be Oswald I take it." The rabbit smiled, did a back flip and bowed.
"Got that right, although you may know me as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from your studies, and your name is?" he said in a proud manner.
"My name is Yen Sid, and I actually never heard about you until just before coming here."
"WHAT!" shouted a surprised Oswald, "How could you have become a Master without none of the older coots mentioning my name, I practically trained them myself, sure my methods were a bit harsh but they should be thanking me for being hard on them!" He began to punch the air around him to let out his frustration. The gauntlets on his hand look like they could do some serious damage.
"So this is the person responsible for training Master Virt?" thought Sid. "He must be really strong when it comes to magic."
"Well I'm sorry that your name never came up in the Land of Departure Oswald," said Sid respectfully to Oswald who was now punching the snow, "However I would like to hear stories about how you came to know my master."
Oswald stopped and looked at Sid. "You seem like a good person Sid, and of course I'll tell you some stories about the good ole days. By the way can I call you Sid?" He extended his hand for Sid to shake.
"Please I prefer that you do, Yen Sid makes me sound like an old man," said Sid warmly as he shook Oswald's hand.
"Well Sid, before I tell you what I know, let's go find this little kid with a Keyblade first and take him back with us to the Land of Departure."
"Of course, the mission must come first," said Sid who was now focusing on his surroundings, "So where was this child last scene."
"Beats me," said Oswald who was now laying down on the snow. "I was chasing after him through some forest, discreetly of course, but lost him once I came up to the path of this mountain. I thought he ran up here but I was mistaken."
"I see," said Sid who began walking towards a cliff. Once he got to the edge he looked down and saw a village some distance down.
"Perhaps this new wielder is living down there?" thought Sid.
"Oswald did you check out that village on your way up here!" shouted Sid to Oswald.
"NOPE!" shouted Oswald into Sid ear.
"Gahhh!" yelled Sid who was not expecting a response so loud, or close. Oswald began to laugh and roll on the ground.
"Oh boy, Mesch and Virt hated when I did that do them," said Oswald as he continued to laugh. Sid only looked at Oswald annoyingly before also starting to laugh a little.
"You know Sid," said Oswald as he got up, "I think we're gonna be good friends once this mission is over and done with."
"I agree Oswald," responded Sid who smiled at Oswald, "Now come, let us checkout that village."
"Yeah, yeah," said Oswald," path leading down is over there." He began to walk towards the path before noticing that Sid hadn't moved.
"You coming Sid?"
"Oswald come look at this," said Sid as he pointed at something in the distance.
"What is it?" asked Oswald as he stood next to his partner. Sid looked at Oswald who gave Sid a look of confusion. Sid then gave a huge grin before shouting out loud.
"GRAVITY!" both Oswald and Sid immediately felt like they were floating on water.
"What are you doing!" yelled Oswald with a little worry in his face.
"Trust me Oswald, will get down to the village much faster this way," said Sid, "Now then, AERO!" he shouted. Both of them slightly began to suspend in midair thanks to both spells working in unison.
"OH JEEZ!" yelled Oswald. "YOU DON'T MEA-"
"YES I DO!" said Sid happily. He grabbed Oswald's hand and launched himself off the cliff. Oswald began to scream.
"GAHHHH, oh," said Oswald as he realized just how slowly they were descending down the mountain. He looked at Sid who was laughing loudly at his partner's reaction. "That was a dirty move Sid!"
"Maybe but now I believe we forged a friendship don't you think," responded Sid. Oswald took in those words. He only met one other person in his life that he could remember that he became friends with right away. He smiled at Sid and nodded his head.
"I see a lot of Grandmaster Walt in this kid," thought Oswald to himself.
He smiled and enjoyed this moment as they both quickly approached the village.
"That was fun!" shouted Oswald excitedly as both he and Sid touched the ground, the magic casted on them was beginning to fade away.
"Glad you like it," said Sid, "I practiced that many times on the mountains back home."
"You did good Sid but next time a little warning," said Oswald.
"Of course, now let's go ask the villagers about our mysterious wielder," said Sid, "Try to blend in."
"…I'm a big talking rabbit wearing metal gauntlets… but I'll try," said Oswald as he began to laugh.
They walked up to a stand where an old man was selling what appeared to be jewelry.
"Excuse me sir but I was wondering if you can help us find someone," said Sid warmly.
"Help you find someone eyy," said the old man with a smile. "Sure thing but you're going to have to buy one of my enchanted items for information."
"WHAT, WHY YOU!" yelled Oswald shaking his fist towards the old man, "C'mon Sid, will go ask around somewhere else."
"Go ahead," said the old man, "but everyone will just send you back to me, I'm the eyes and ears of this village you see."
"I'm surprised your eyes and ears still work ya old coot! Watch yourself Sid, I'm taking this old man out!" yelled Oswald and he began to make a fist.
"Relax Oswald," said Sid calmly. He turned back to the old man. "I'll be happy to buy one of your items. What kind of enchantments are on them."
"Well this one helps you heal from any wound at a rapid rate, and this one will absorb elemental magic and grant the owner of the band much stronger magic and this one-"
"I'll take that one," said Sid pointing at a metal band with weird designs on them. "Oswald you want one?" asked Sid.
"Uhh…what?" said Oswald.
"Here take this one, as a present for our new friendship." He handed Oswald a moon shaped metallic stone.
"You actually believe these things work?" asked Oswald as he took the stone in his hands. "Hmmm… yep nothing…" he exclaimed.
"Now then," said Sid as he turned back to the old man, "about the information we want. We're looking for a kid wielding a weapon sort of shaped like a key."
"Hmm a kid wielding a key shaped weapon," the old man said to himself. "Hmmm."
"He was wearing rags," said Oswald who was still admiring the stone.
"Oh then you must mean that orphan child living in the cave outside the village," said the old man.
"A…cave?" Both Sid and Oswald said looking at each other.
"He's a weird one," the old man continued. "And he's the only one that wears rags around here. You can find the cave near the entrance leading to the mountain summit."
"Well thanks you for the information and items," said Sid.
"You're not going to do any harm to that child are you?" asked the old man. "He's had a rather difficult life."
"Of course not!" shouted Oswald.
"We just want to show him guidance and offer him a home." said Sid warmly. Both Sid and Oswald began to walk away from the stand towards the exit to the village. "Hopefully he'll want to leave with us otherwise I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with him, can't have a wielder running around not knowing how to properly use a Keyblade," he thought.
"Just one more thing!" yelled the old man, "His name is Eraqus!"
Sid and Oswald waved at the old man and continued out of the village.
