Chapter Two: The Return To Asgard

And the next day, Thor and Jane arrived in Asgard.

Jane has been here before on several occasions. Her and Thor's wedding was even here. However, despite the frequency of coming here, she was always nervous whenever she would arrive at the Bifrost bridge. It was mostly because all of this still seemed like fiction to her, like unknown science and yet, it was her reality - her new life. Seeing Thor's parents always made her shake a little. She was just glad that Odin and Frigga liked her even though she was a mortal, but she always feared that she would do something inappropriate.

Especially when her in-laws were sitting on her thrones - which they were. It always made Jane realize where Thor got which genetic from: the sleek blond hair and gentle smile from his mother, and the well-formed build and look of fortitude in the eyes was from his father.

"Thor!" Frigga exclaims, rising from her throne to hug her son with Odin following behind her.

"Hello, Mother, Father," Thor responds, hugging them both alternatively.

"And Lady Jane." Frigga holds her close and kisses her cheeks. "Always the best pleasure to see you again."

"We have missed you both dearly," Odin says, "you both have been absent for quite some time."

"You too," Jane says, also hugging Odin. In her opinion, hugs with Odin were always the most awkward ones.

"Ah, you both have returned. We shall have a feast!" Frigga exclaims.

Frigga leads Jane down the hallways of the palace. Jane always finds herself looking around in awe at how extravagant everything was: from the food to the furniture, to the people. She is always amazed, awestruck. However, looking around her in all directions make her dizzy this time. It never has before... but she just dismisses it as a part of her nerves.

"Truthfully, I cannot express how happy I am that you both have returned to Asgard," Frigga said leading them to her and Thor's bedroom.

"Oh my god…" Jane mutters looking around. The entire room was decorated in muted silvers and golds. Golden walls and sliver bed sheets. "This is amazing."

"Thank you, dear. I hope you don't mind the redecoration."

"Not at all." Jane traces the delicate fabrics with her fingertips.

Frigga takes a seat in one of the chairs in front of the fireplace. Jane sits across from her, shifting uncomfortably as she notices something odd. She sees a strange looking portrait hanging on the wall above the fireplace. It's a jagged frame consisting of a blonde sorceress as the centrepiece. The witch stares right at her and before Jane could comment on it, it suddenly disappears in the blink of an eye. Jane just pretends that she never saw that.

"Tell me more about your life on Midgard," Frigga says, distracting Jane from the odd painting. "Thor tells me some stories, but I would love to hear more from you. What is happening?"

"Well," Jane starts, "you know The Avengers?"

Frigga chuckles warmheartedly. "They are the second thing Thor talks about most. He talks all day and night mostly about you. Not that we mind, we love hearing about our daughter-in-law."

Jane gives a bright smile. "Well, most of them have settled down and had a kid. Twins for some of them."

Frigga warms up and not just because she was sitting in front of the fireplace. She leans forward and places her hand on Jane's leg, understanding what she was trying to say. Jane just brought it up since it was the last thing she spoke to Natasha about so it was fresh in her mind.

"Do not worry, my dear," Frigga says. "If and when the time is right, you will have a child. And god or mortal, he or she will be special."

"Are you sure you don't mind that I'm not an Asgardian?" Jane asks anxiously. "I swear, there was some taboo about me not being a from here."

"Oh no, Jane, not at all. Odin and I would never discriminate against you. I always had a hunch that Thor would fall in love with someone from elsewhere. Thor was always the one to have his heart open to the other realms. You accepted him in his mortal form which makes you the perfect one for him."

"Thank you, Frigga. I can see where Thor gets his big heart from."

"Jane is the most perfect person, is she not?" Thor asked turning his head to face his father as they stood at a balcony watching the palace guards train.

Odin claps his hand over his son's shoulder. "Yes, my son. You have chosen the perfect wife for you indeed. She is so smart and so kind at the same time. She will make a remarkable queen by your side as Frigga is to me."

"I would be a fool having Jane by my side at the throne. Though she is level-headed, I cannot keep her from Midgard. She has a life down there as I have one up here. I can never take her away from such."

"You are wiser now. You have grown since your banishment. Instead of a punishment, I think of it as a gift. Without it, you would not have met your Jane Foster. Asgard would have lost a fine queen. You will make a wonderful king – as a father."

Thor chuckled. "Father, I do not have a son. Jane and I never talked about such."

"One day, you will. Together, you and Jane will raise a great child whether raised on Midgard or through the halls of Asgard. Either way, your child will be special. He or she will

Odin and Frigga are both saying that a non-existent child will be special…do they know something that Thor and Jane are being oblivious to? Or are they just being hopeful grandparents?

And what was with that painting Jane spotted earlier?
