Ch.1 Eluding the Authorities

Meanwhile at the kingdom near by, everything was as usual. People were walking about the streets minding their own business, shopping, and working, when suddenly, they heard a crashing noise and yelling from angry men somewhere in town. "Hey you! Stop right there!" An angry soldier shouted.

Somewhere above the higher levels, a little boy was running like mad with a bag in his hand. Behind him were three guards that were hot on his trail. "He's getting away!" Shouted one of the men.

"Learn to run faster, you fool!" Said the other as the boy leaped onto a cart full of hay as it started to roll down the street.

"Look alive!" The boy shouted as people walking by who either heard or saw him leaped out of the way of the run away cart. The cart rolled down the street until it crashed into another cart, flinging the boy out of the cart as he screams for his life. Luckily, he caught hold of a string of hanging laundry. He looked down seeing more guards running around.

"Where did he go?" Asked one guard.

"He was coming this way! I thought we might catch him here." Said another.

"How could you idiots have lost one measly child?!" Cried the captain. "Find him now, or else I'll strip you of your armor!"

The guards saluted nervously as they said "Yes, Captain Gorvenal, Sir!" They then spread out in different directions in search of the boy as Captain Gorvenal went out himself.

The boy sighed in relief, seeing that he completely alluded them. He then held the bag in his teeth and carefully climbed the string to get to the one side of the string. Suddenly, the rope snapped and he held on tight to the rope, screaming as he swings into an open window, landing in a tub full of bubble water. He stuck his head out, taking a breath and shaking the water out of his hair. He then widened his eyes in horror as he dug around the water looking for his bag. He when he found it, he held it up in triumph, but then noticed a young maiden in a towel, looking at him in stiff shock

The boy blushed as he awkwardly waved a hand saying "Uh... Good day, fair maiden?" The woman then screamed at the top of her lungs as she threw random stuff at him, demanding him to get out. The boy did so, covering his head from the stuff being thrown at him as he ran through the building. People who heard the scream opened their doors, wondering what was going on, as they saw a boy running down the halls, much to their surprise.

He went through one door that was open by a person and jumped through a window, finding himself on the roof. He continued running until he stopped at the edge. He looked down, seeing a market below. He heard a man say "There he is!" He looked behind, seeing that two guards had found him and were climbing out of the window after him.

"We got you cornered boy!" Said another guard. "Now just come quietly, and we won't hurt you."

The boy looked down again before he closed his eyes and jumped down, falling right into a stand's tarp which bounced him off and made him land into a cart full of wool. He looked up seeing the soldiers looking down. "Blast it! He's getting away! Get down there!" One of them said

"Right then!" Exclaimed the other as they both jumped down to the bottom, thinking that they too would bounce off. However, because of their heavy armor, they instead ripped through the tarp and squashed some squash, covering themselves in a mess.

The boy laughed at the guards as he jumped out of the cart and began running away. One guard struggled to get up as he shouted at the boy "Come back here, you little crook!" He then slipped and fell on his bottom.

The boy went into a crowd of people, where he could be well hidden. The soldiers went through the crowd to try and catch the boy. They managed to spot him and they immediately ran to where he was. But when they got there, and grabbed him by the shoulder, they saw that it was just an old man, carrying his bag of apples. "Hey, what do ya thin you're doing?!"

"Uh... so sorry, sir. We thought you were someone else." Said the soldier who grabbed him.

Captain Gorvenal then caught up with his men and asked "Did you find him?!"

"We did, but then we lost him again." One of the soldiers reported.

An aggravated Captain then smacked both soldiers as he shouted "Idiots! I ought to make both of you do five-hundred-and-fifty push ups a day for your lack of pursuit! Now get to searching!"

Both soldiers gulped as they said "Y-Yes, Captain! Sorry, Captain!"

Unaware to them though, the old man, who was putting his bag of apples in the cart, was unwittingly carrying the boy, who cleverly sat underneath the other bags of apples, using his own bag to hide himself. As he rode the cart, he took a peek, to see if he got rid of the soldiers again, which to his relief, he did. He then helped himself to one of the apples and took a bite of it.

I am truly sorry of how long it took me to update this. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to continue this or not, but then I've decided to see it through. Hope you're enjoying the story so far.
