Ever since that day he only looked in the mirror once a year. It was the only time he could force himself to look at the dispair that dwelt in his once lively eyes. It was a day to visit people. The girl in the mirror, Captain Jack, and her grave. He would wear the same thing he had that day and make sure his hair was tidy enough. He'd put on a happy face. A fake demeanor for an empty grave. He often thought all he did was dwell in lies. Because lies were the one of the things that kept him going. All of them, the faces, the laughs, the smiles, the joy, were lies. Lies to himself and others. A lie that maybe he wasn't so hopeless, maybe someday he could have her back, maybe they would make it through today. All these maybes were lies, lies disguised as truths. They kept him going, just one of the little things that kept him living.
