A chapter on Morgana and Kayle, with some bits of Vi-Caitlyn and Ashe-Sejuani thrown in. This story will contain incest, if a romantic relationship between two immortal angels can be called as such; I always believed that those two were meant together, like FemHawke and Bethany in Dragon Age 2; sometimes, the fact that you're related doesn't need to factor in to whether you love someone 'that way'. Kayle and Morgana were sisters until a big blow-up pushed them apart. And Morgana is caught in some god-forsaken place, staring at death when Kayle, of all people, suddenly shows up.
I do have a rough plan for where the plot is going and the eventual resolutions, but I realize that there will have to be more chapters with the backgrounds set up. I will try to work on these first, only hinting at the plot without actually clearly progressing it. Hope it works!
Chapter 2
Two reavers, and several other smaller void minions had joined the one she'd hunted to its lair, and her powers had been nowhere near enough to fend them off. She hadn't accounted for them, and it seemed like she would have to pay the ultimate price for her mistake. As she stood, shielded for the time being by her black magic, she could feel her life-force ebbing away. She permitted herself a wry chuckle. If only her dear sister could see her now, she'd have told her, "I told you so". Not that their circumstances had given them a great many options. Immortality was a bane as much as it was a blessing. She wondered if she would be reborn after her fall. It was a moot point, however. She really didn't have anything left. Her attempt to shackle their souls hadn't had the desired effect, and there were only so many times she could bind them to stop their advance, or desecrate the ground on which they stood to feed on their life force. This was the end. Morgana, the Fallen Angel, had bitten off more than she could chew, and it seemed like she was about to pay the ultimate price.
Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light, and Morgana felt invulnerable, and then it felt like she had been healed, rejuvenated. She felt the energy flowing through her veins. "It isn't over, Morgie. I can't let it end like this", said a voice. Morgana felt herself lifted into the air, and move rapidly away from what would've been her death. She knew who the voice belonged. She knew her, admired her, loved her, respected her, despised and hated her, all at the same time. A feminine, commanding, firm, but kind voice. Its owner was the avatar of justice to her people, but she had been one of the reasons Morgana had renounced the very same community. It could only be. Her sister. Her greatest friend, and her worst enemy. The one she loved above all else, for being there for her always, but also hated with every fiber of her being, for representing the shackles that she believed constricted their society. Kayle, the Judicator. Morgana felt like one of those teenage girls she read about in books sometimes, the ones who could never quite decide what exactly they wanted, or what they thought of something or someone.
After a while, Morgana heard her sister complain. "You dumb idiot, you aren't that light, and this is tiring me out a fair bit. I know you haven't used them in forever, but could you please wake up and try using your wings now." This was more like it. Morgana commented, "Our relationship seems to rely so much on confrontation." She smiled wryly. After a while, "That isn't the point here, I can't get us much further than this if I still need to carry you." "You were the one who bound my wings and made them ornamental, if you recall", retorted Morgana, acidly. "I did that?", said Kayle, wonderingly. "Yes, Kay, you most certainly did. In your never-ending fight against darkness, you forget that one inconvenience you caused your own little sister. Hmphh!", replied Morgana. A brief pause. "We haven't really talked about what happened then…", said Kayle. "No we haven't, Kay. You were too busy hunting me down, and I was too busy running." "And you would've kept running from it." "Maybe so", conceded Morgana, "but how was I supposed to know what you'd do to me?" "Whatever else happened between us, you have to remember that you're still my little sister." "And you are the enforcer of tyranny in our land. You're smart enough to know that what I say is true, Kay. Do you know how hurt I felt when I saw you doing Malthael's bidding? It broke my heart. And that blow-up we had? You made me feel like total crap that day, casting me out, constricting my wings" Kayle stayed silent for a while. "I didn't like it any more than you did, Morgana…I found something out…about our parents, and I had to chase the lead, but you weren't there. You don't understand the whole story", she said, sadness evident in her voice. Morgana felt a flash of anger. If it had something to do with the mysterious disappearance of their parents, then it was something Kayle had to tell her. They were her parents too! "So tell me the whole story, right? I'm not the helpless little sister you need to coddle. Not any more, Kay. I'm not fragile. I plotted and almost brought you and your petty war to its knees before you came here. I sunk myself in the darkest arts, fuelled by hatred alone. And you know what, it wasn't hatred for you. It was my hatred for the situation we'd been dealt by our world. I hated that I couldn't be with my big sister anymore. I hated that my big sister hated me. So believe me, I'm a bitter old woman who has seen all the worst the worlds have to offer. I can handle any truth you tell me. Besides, these are OUR parents you're talking about." Another silence. Then, "I'm sorry. All right. I know it won't make things right instantaneously. I'll always be sorry. I hated the whole situation as much as you did. But, you'll always be the little sister I dote on, Morgie, never ever think that I hated you…you'll always be the one I'll always try to protect; you're the one thing that matters to me above all else. I hated myself for what I did. And if it's the truth you want, then I will tell you."
Morgana couldn't remain angry for long. Not that her sister was finally talking to her again. As her sister, no less! She said, "I'm sorry for blowing up at you. I'm glad that I can talk to you properly again…even if this is some freak accident and we have to go back to fighting each other again, this day will be a happy memory." She smiled. "Not happening, sis. Get used to being chummy, this isn't going to change ever. Not now that I have finally got the chance to make things right."
They flew on for a while, Morgana hanging on tightly to Kayle. "Ahh, it's really not easy riding like this, you know. Caitlyn should have a police outpost nearby. Let's stop there? I can also look at unbinding your wings so you don't have the same excuse next time", said Kayle, panting slightly. Morgana laughed. "Maybe I don't want them unbound. Maybe, I liked being carried by my strong big sis", she stated. Kayle laughed as well. "Well, I haven't been your big sis much in recent memory. I'm truly sorry about that." Morgana replied, "It's not your fault entirely. I've not given you the chance to, either."
Soon, they came upon the outpost that Kayle had spoken of, on the edge of the Ironspike Mountains. Kayle entered the building, Morgana still in her arms. Vi and Caitlyn were in what passed as their office. It had a chair, currently occupied by Vi, and a desk, currently used as a perch by Caitlyn. They were in a rather compromising position, what with Vi's (ungloved) hand snaking its way up Caitlyn's thigh. Kayle cleared her throat, stating, "Hello! People here, maybe do your naughty things later?", with barely concealed sarcasm. Vi immediately withdrew her hand and they turned around to see who the intruders were. And saw Morgana in Kayle's arms. Caitlyn saw a small opportunity to salvage the situation, commenting, "Ah, sisterly love is so strong", smirking meaningly at Morgana. Vi said, "Yo, Kayle, do you ever take that helmet off? Maybe you're too scared to show that beautiful face of yours…" She looked at Caitlyn. "Maybe you're even hotter than Cait", she added, grinning at Morgana. Morgana blushed, and felt a sudden rush of possessiveness. Her imagination jumped several steps ahead to Kayle locked in a kiss with Vi. She decided she didn't like that thought, and said, "Now that I think about it, I really, really hate that helmet of yours…feels like I'm talking to a fucking statue", and put her hands on Kayle's helmet and yanked it off. Kayle's face stared at her, looking first surprised, then amused. "There! Much better! Possibly the most beautiful face in the world, and you waste it by hiding behind a mask", said Morgana. Kayle blushed slightly. Morgana impulsively placed a kiss full on Kayle's lips. Kayle was too surprised to respond properly. Caitlyn and Vi looked stunned. Morgana said, "My sister is mine, stay off her, okay!?", glaring at Vi. Vi held up her hands. "Okay, truce! I just wanted to smooth the situation over…'sides, I have", grabbing Caitlyn, depositing her on her lap, leaning in to her, and kissing her full on the lips, "this", she said, smiling widely at a surprised looking Caitlyn.
Kayle was still rather dazed, and considering that she still carried her sister in her arms, this might have been a precarious situation. She regained her senses to avoid any mishaps however, and looked at Morgana, puzzle more than anything on her face. Morgana simply licked her lips and said, "You're kinda sweaty." Kayle replied, "Well, I have been carrying you all this time. And this armor isn't particularly light either. Plus, I'm pretty sure I almost had a heart attack from that little antic." "Hmm, you should wear lighter clothes…like me!", said Morgana. Kayle gave Morgana an exasperated look. "I suppose I won't get an answer as to why you just randomly kissed me and nearly made me drop you on the floor in your condition. And yeah, maybe I should. But I got so used to this outfit, you know."
Morgana considered for a while, finally declaring, "I hate it. It reminds me of the distance we put between each other." "And that distance just vanished now, when you kissed me, I suppose?", asked Kayle, sarcasm evident in her voice. "No, it didn't, did it? But I feel like…if you just went out of your way, risked your life to save me like you did just now, it shows that you still cared…and you were always the mature one, you were always the one I followed and looked up to. Some of that distance closed, at least for me, when you came and saved me, despite all that happened. Because I sure as hell would've died if you hadn't. And it goes without saying, I love you. I always have, and I always will. These past years, I haven't given a damn about myself, just sinking lower into the depths of darkness in search of power. Because I had nothing to look forward to, nothing to live for, and nothing to sustain me but anger, hatred, and self-loathing. Maybe, if you come back into my life, I'd be able to find something worth living for again." Kayle felt her eyes watering up. She felt so angry at herself for letting her sister get this way, for allowing her to put herself through all that…torture, and the worst part was that she, Kayle, was partially responsible for the current state of affairs. If only she had not been so stubborn! But, she had to hope that this could be the start of something new between them, that they could go back to being sisters, best friends to each other. She replied, "I love you. More than anything in this world or the next…more than my life itself. I've made choices that I hoped would turn out well, even if it meant pushing you away from me. It broke my heart to do it, but…this wasn't something I wanted to involve you in. The cost was always mine to bear. If I'd known the sort of rift it would create, I wouldn't have made them the way I did. I feel like I've been walking a tightrope the last ten years, especially since we had our blow-up. I've always kept an eye on you at all times, and today, when I got tipped off by Kassadin that you were being setup for a trap, I rushed…as fast as I could. It's been the biggest relief of my long life that I wasn't too late. A world where my sister doesn't exist, even if we aren't on the best of terms, isn't a world I want to live in." They looked at each other intently, as though they were meeting for the first time in years.
Caitlyn cleared her throat. "Well, that was…touching. I'm glad you two made up, but from what I gathered, the younger sister isn't in the best of shape…Vi, take Morgana from Kayle and take her to the first aid room; Kayle, you can use the bathroom to change. It's attached to the bedroom down the hall. Take Vi's clothes if you need a fresh set. I do believe you two match up size-wise. We'll take care of your sister." She spoke with an authoritative tone that brooked no argument. Vi nodded and walked up to the angels. She held out her arms expectantly, and Kayle nodded, depositing Morgana carefully in Vi's arms. Vi walked off, presumably to whatever counted as the infirmary in the police outpost. Kayle walked up to Caitlyn, who seemed to be searching for something in her desk and said, "Thank you". Caitlyn fished out a map of some sort, and nodded, saying, "It is no trouble. That said, it may be a good thing you two walked in when you did…We may need your aid in a matter that came up. It was actually why Vi and I were here in the first place. Fortunately for you two, I suppose. Big things are happening in our world, Kayle. And we need to be prepared to choose our sides." Kayle replied, "Of course. This sounds serious. What do you require?" Caitlyn looked at the woman in front of her. Kayle looked rather disheveled and tired. She said, "Well, we can get to it when you've freshened up and we've tended to your sister. It's important, but it can wait…" She paused, then commented, "Honestly, you look like you've been through a meat-grinder, and Morgana looked pretty beat up too. It isn't so urgent that you two can't be given time to recover." She smiled at Kayle, and made her way in the direction Vi had gone off. Kayle made her way to the bedroom as Caitlyn had directed.

"Ahri! Lulu heard from Pix's friends that Shauna and Fiora are in trouble", cried the little yordle in distress. Ahri looked up in surprise, barely registering what her friend had said. "Ehh?", she offered. Lulu puffed out her cheeks in exasperation and grabbed her hand and pulled at it. "Come, we must go. Shauna is in trouble. We need to help…Shauna is always nice to Lulu, she's one of Lulu's best friends!" Ahri still didn't know exactly what Lulu meant by 'trouble'. She tried to calm the yordle down. She bent down, grabbed the girl's shoulder and looked her in the eye, saying, "Lulu! Calm down! Now, tell me what's wrong with Shauna and Fiora." (She'd guessed by now that Lulu meant Shauna Vayne and Fiora Laurent, of the League of Legends) "They're searching for a big void monster, but they don't know that the monster laid a trap! Pix's friends saw them laying an ambush, we need to go so they're safe. Pix told Lulu that the creatures are strong. Shauna and her girlfriend will have trouble. We must go and help!" Lulu looked close to tears. Ahri sighed and asked, "Okay, Lu. Which way do we need to go?" Lulu nodded and pointed to her right. "This way, Ahri! Come!" Ahri nodded, and said, "Right behind you, Lu."

Kayle walked into what passed as the medical room in Caitlyn's outpost, in a hot pink t-shirt (which proclaimed 'I'm a hottie, deal with it'), and brown shorts, both belonging to Vi. The room was clean, reasonably well-stocked, and the skill of the current doctor (Vi) sufficed for the current case. "Change the bandages once a day, all right, Morgie. Get your sis to help out with it, and try to get this salve. There isn't much of one ingredient left in our supplies, so we'll have to get some more anyway." She saw Kayle come in. She finished with, "No overly strenuous activity for a while, all right!", winking meaningly at her. Morgana blushed slightly. Kayle said, "Thanks a lot, Vi. For looking after her." Vi slapped Kayle on the back, saying, "Don't sweat it, Kay." She looked back at Morgana, commenting, "She's actually kinda nice once you get past her tough exterior…you can talk to her if you want", before ambling off in the direction of the main office, whistling tunelessly.
Kayle looked at Morgana intently, mentally noting where she'd been bandaged or patched up somehow, all the while thinking how very cute her sister really was. Morgana caught Kayle looking her over, blushed slightly, barely held back the snarky comment she'd wanted to open with, before saying, "Hey sis…Can you help me up?" Kayle snapped out of her reverie and acquiesced, supporting her sister as she gingerly got up and experimentally took a few steps forward. "You okay?", asked Kayle. Morgana nodded, and Kayle released her, remaining alert in case Morgana really wasn't okay and faltered in her steps. Morgana looked back at her sister and held out her hand. "Come, I've never been around this place before. Let's explore." Kayle shook her head, smiling, but took her sister's hand anyway.
The outpost was right in the middle of a valley on the edge of the Ironspike Mountains. It was a very scenic location, lush green woods all around, and a waterfall nearby. "Well, Caitlyn sure seems to know where to build an office…this place is quite beautiful", commented Morgana. The sisters were strolling around, hand-in-hand, taking in the sights, just chatting about things of no consequence. Just like two normal sisters would. Only, they hadn't been normal sisters in a very long time, and they definitely were not magically normal now. All that made it seem a bit put on. Kayle had many questions whirling in her head. Specifically, what Morgana meant by kissing her and claiming ownership of her. Also, her own (very honest) admission that Morgana truly was the one she cared for the most. That nothing would be worth living for if she wasn't around. She felt a hand on her cheek. "I don't know if I've said before, but I much prefer you without that armor on…especially that helmet." Kayle smiled, replying, "You did mention it once in the last hour, I believe." "Yes, I did, didn't I? It was right before I claimed you as mine and told Pinky to lay off." Morgana laughed, and it was the first time Kayle had heard her actually laugh in a long time. It wasn't one of those evil-sounding screeches with ominous promises of destruction at the end of it. Now that she thought of it, Kayle was struck by how comical her inner monologue sounded. Besides, she was rather tickled at how Morgana had just anointed Vi, 'Pinky'. "Pinky?", asked Kayle, smiling crookedly. Morgana shrugged. Kayle became serious. "Are you sure you want to claim me as yours, as you call it?", she asked. Morgana nodded. "It was not like I was happy at any point during these last few years. And the main reason for that was the fact that you weren't around. And now, I feel like I can truly smile and laugh again." "And how about the friends you made? I don't know who they are or what their aims are, but if you were to just stop calling in, I don't think they'd take kindly to it." Morgana chuckled. "My 'friends'? I had none really. I simply went around causing destruction, gaining more power, wherever I could find it. Plotting your downfall…and, not your downfall as a person, more like, the downfall of Kayle, the Judicator…maybe childishly, I thought, if Kayle the Judicator was brought down, Kayle my sister, would magically come back…" "They aren't the same person?" Morgana gave Kayle a withering look. "Your job is not what defines you." "Well, just a moment ago, you defined me by it, and said you wanted to dissociate me from it." "Precisely! You get it!", said Morgana, triumphantly. Kayle looked at her sister, mouth open. She shook her head and chuckled. "I understood nothing of our conversation just now." "Exactly! So you have to simply do what I tell you because I'm smarter", said Morgana, smiling smugly. "That's a leap! There was no logical causative thread that connected any of your statements", said Kayle. "Did there need to be?", asked Morgana, impishly. Kayle laughed. "I suppose not…I missed you so much, Morgie." "Of course you did – I honestly cannot think of any company better than me…I, on the other hand felt like I'd lost half my soul, so my overall sentiment is pretty similar." Kayle looked up at the gathering clouds in the sky. She shook her head and said, "I wonder why we put ourselves through all that…anyway, it doesn't matter now." She held out her hand, saying, "Come on, we better get back, sister. It looks like rain." Morgana smiled and accepted her sister's proffered hand, and they walked back to the outpost.

Caitlyn was checking over her rifle and Vi was putting on her gauntlets when Kayle and Morgana came back. Caitlyn looked up as they walked towards them, saying "Ah, it's a good thing you two came back; something's come up, and your help would be welcome." Kayle asked, "What would you require of us?" Caitlyn paused for a moment to gather her thoughts. "How quickly can you two fly with a load?" Morgana looked surprised. "Umm, what kind of load?" "A full-grown female." Kayle thought for a moment, and said, "Wouldn't slow us down much, honestly; but why do you ask?" "Well, we need to get to Mount Erebus, on the edge of the Howling Marsh." Kayle and Morgana started in surprise. "That's Karthus' realm…a very dark place", commented Morgana, carefully. Both angels knew that Caitlyn wouldn't suddenly ask to go to the Howling Marsh for a picnic; there had to be something quite sinister at play.
Caitlyn nodded. "Yes. There has been a recent…increase in void creature sightings in that area. Several friends of ours believe that something a lot more evil is at work. We have been called in to assist."
"Friends? And who called you two in?", asked Kayle. Caitlyn considered the question for a time, as if considering how she should answer. Eventually, she shook her head, and said, "I can't expect you to help unless you know at least something of what has been happening. Darling, can you get the box, please?", she asked, turning to Vi. Vi nodded and moved over to the desk, where she retrieved a cardboard box from somewhere within it, and brought it over to where Caitlyn was standing, lowering it gently to the ground. Caitlyn nodded in thanks and opened the box to reveal several papers. Caitlyn handed them to Kayle, who accepted it. Kayle held it so that both she and her sister could see it.
They were a series of pictures, obviously taken in different parts of Runeterra. Each one depicted seven burnt spots in the ground. One image even had them joined together, to form a perfect rendition of an upturned pentagram with two horns at the middle. Morgana took in a sharp breath when she saw this symbol. Kayle looked at her quizzically. "Is this familiar to you?", she asked. Morgana nodded. "The sigil of Zernbog. Some believe that he is the mythical overseer of the Void plane of Runeterra. In his more lucid moments, Malzahar speaks of him sometimes. And, if you catch Kassadin off-guard, you may be lucky enough to get hints of the existence of such an entity from him." Kayle nodded. "It is interesting that you recognized the symbol. Vayne has been investigating these incidents for a while; she was actually the one who destroyed the Void creatures who tried to call upon Zernbog in many of these cases…She called on someone in our group to look into the Howling Marsh, scout it out, and get any information that might be relevant. Her findings led her to believe that it may have been a place of significance to the…shall we say, followers, in times gone past. Vi and I volunteered, as we were relatively free, and reasonably close to the location."
Kayle and Morgana digested this information in silence. At length, Kayle asked, "You mentioned you had a group. From what you said, I gathered that Shauna Vayne is part of it, in some leadership role, possibly. Who else is a part of it?" Caitlyn replied, "It's not a group, more a collective of like-minded individuals. Or, in this case, individuals who fear the same thing, I suppose. There are several others. Last count, there were over forty champions from the League of Legends who were helping us. I've even heard that a few factions even have squads that covertly investigate these occurrences for them. And, yes, Vayne is generally the most active member of the group. Somewhat expected, I suppose, considering her place in Valoran." Kayle and Morgana nodded. Vayne was one of the few champions in the League of Legends who had no real allegiance to any faction. On paper, she was a representative of Demacia, but she had friends and allies all over the continent. Her investigations were at best, openly supported with extra resources, and at worst, regarded as a necessary evil, by those in positions of power. Her work was murky without a doubt, but it always left the areas she travelled to, better-off. Kayle, Morgana, Caitlyn and Vi had all worked with her in the past, and they counted her a dependable ally, even friend. Though, they were somewhat wary of her chosen mate, Fiora Laurent. She had become less…annoying, however, since the two had gotten together (many of the relationships between champions in the League were open secrets, if not publicly known).
Kayle asked, "What help would you require of us?" Caitlyn replied, "Well, Quinn sent out a report that there was a suspicious group making their way in that direction, down from the Freljord. She mentioned that she would continue to track them and setup camp if she could…I must confess that this information disturbs me. I believe extra hands would be helpful, and flying there would save us a lot of time, (Vi took in a sharp breath, but subsided once Caitlyn gave her a warning look) if you both were willing. This will allow us to make contact with Quinn, and whoever else decided to make the trip there. I have a feeling we'll need all the help we can get."
Kayle and Morgana looked at each other. Kayle's eyes conveyed a very clear question – did Morgana feel up to helping out. After a time, Morgana gave an almost imperceptible nod, and Kayle replied, "We are willing. I must confess that this report does worry me, considering the fact that the void creatures that I saved my dear sister from, looked…wrong, somehow. It was unlike anything I've seen before. They seemed coordinated, cunning even. I can't explain why, but I felt like someone was controlling them. They seemed to know to avoid Morgana's spells as far as possible, they could work together to create powerful blasts of void magic. I shudder to think what would've happened if Morgana had actually taken the full force of any one of their combined attacks. That was how it looked to me from above, as I was coming down to rescue her, at least. Morgana can confirm if she felt the same, fighting them on the ground." Morgana thought for a bit and eventually nodded. "I believe that what Kayle says is true. I remember wondering how they had managed to bait me into an ambush. Void creatures are not normally organized…I had more pressing concerns at the time, and hence did not pursue the line of thought to completion." Caitlyn pondered this for a while. "The only one I know of, who could willfully control any sort of creature, is Azir. And to a limited extent at that." "How about Yorick? Or Malzahar? Or Bard?", asked Vi. "Well, those three summon creatures, but cannot control them as such. Their conjurations are just entities that look for something to prey on, once they come into being. Azir can conjure and control his soldiers for a time, but I don't know of anyone who can control anything, let alone void creatures for extended periods of time. I think it is a very concerning development, especially if they were smart enough to successfully trap one of the strongest mages in the land." The room went silent, as each of the four women thought about the implications of their inferences.
Eventually, Kayle said, "I don't believe we can do anything about it in the present moment, and so, I suggest we get a move on towards the Howling Marsh. Morgie, are you okay to use your wings to fly?" Morgana nodded and rose off the ground, as if to prove her point, "They are beginning to feel more familiar. Though, I'd prefer to take the lighter load if I'm carrying something. I will have to remember to be careful not to push my limits as well." She smiled apologetically. Caitlyn nodded, saying, "Well, it would seem that I am with you then, Morgana. I promise to keep nagging you throughout the journey to take it easy." She gave Morgana a small smile. "Take good care of Cupcake for me, would you, Morg", said Vi. Morgana nodded and replied, "And you better take good care of Kay, Pinky." "Count on it", said Vi, holding out a hand which Morgana shook enthusiastically. Kayle and Caitlyn looked at each other and shared a smile. They were both obviously the more mature ones in their respective relationships. Their respective significant others were boisterous, loud and childish, and required to be mothered, a role gladly taken on by the two of them. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get this show on the road…err, make that in the sky." They walked outside into the open, Caitlyn with Morgana and Kayle with Vi. Morgana and Kayle lifted their respective flying partners up, bridal style, with them holding on tightly, and took off into the air. Morgana took the lead, as Caitlyn had the route mapped out, with Kayle and Vi following close behind. The four made their way to the Howling Marsh, to investigate and vanquish whatever evil festered on Mount Erebus.
