I look up at the sky and sigh. Today is a nice day, the sun is shining and the snow clouds have finally parted. 1 year ago from today, I was brought to life. I still don't understand though. Why am I here and what's my purpose. I have a feeling that I'm not going to find out anytime soon. The moon doesn't tell me much.

I'm cupid, Even though I'm a girl. And no, I do not wear a dipper. My full name is Talia cupid. That's what the moon tells me. That's all he ever tells me.

Sure, it gets lonely not having anybody to talk to, but the moons presence makes me feel a little better about the situation.

I'm standing on top of the tallest building in town and looking over the people of Burgess. I've traveled to different parts of the world, but for some reason, I always want to come here. I think its cause I'm so use to the place. I know my way around the town.

I look down and to see the local kids playing in the snow. School must have been canceled.

The sun shines on my pale skin and the warmth makes me smile.

Not that I don't like the snow. Actually, I love snow. It's beautiful, but after a while, you start to miss the suns warmth against your face.

I hop from roof-top to roof-top and make my way to the ground. I have wings, but I keep my ruck sack over my back, so I can't really use them. Also, I still haven't mastered flying yet.

Once I finally get to the ground, I see a store across the street with Valentine's Day décor in the window. Valentine's Day is only 3 days away.

"I basically have my own holiday, but nobody can even see me." I snicker to myself.

I can understand why nobody believes in me. People usually think you fall in love with someone because your soul mates or that you just happened to fall in love. That's true, but sometimes people need a little help finding their true love. I guess that's why I was born, but that's not a good enough reason for me. People have found love before I came along, so why was a created now? I walked across the street to the little store with the Valentine's Day decorations that attracted me in the first place.

The cutest jacket sits on display in the window. It's just a simple zip up, red jacket. It has a hood and two pockets on each side, like most jackets do.

I walk into the store to see a woman at the front counter working on paper work.

"Were closed! Can't you see the sign on the door?" She looks up from her paper work, and scrunched her eyebrows. "Must have been the wind." She says to herself.

I raised my eyebrow and chuckled. "Apparently it's possible for the wind to pull a door open." I say in a sarcastic tone.

Taking my time, I walk over to the red jacket and examine it. The rim of the hood was lined with white fur and so were the edges of the sleeves. I look over to the woman to see if she is looking. She's just scribbling something down on the pieces of paper in front of her.

I quickly took off my rucks sack and took the jacket of the display model. After I put it on, I rub my face against the soft fur on the brim of the hood, and throw my ruck sack back on. The jacket feels comfortable against my skin and I let out a sigh of relief. Something out of the corner of my eye gets my attention. A red beanie hangs on a hook under the half of section and next to it were a pair of white, fingerless gloves.

I have to take them! It matches with the jacket.

I sigh and look back over to the woman; she's organizing the papers that were scrambled over the counter. I walk over to her and knock the stack of papers off the edge of the desk.

"Oh great!" she utters under her breathe as she bends over to pick up the papers.

I quickly ran over to the hat and gloves and shove them in my pocket.

I turn my head back to the woman to see if she had finished picking up her papers. She's still on her hands and knees, scrambling around,

"You're not really good at your job, are you?" I chuckle and walk over to her, trying to get a good look at her name tag. I get down on my hand and knees, and lean in close enough to see. The name tag reads Sally Hutson.

"Well Sally Hutson, it looks like you don't really like your job. I'll do you a favor and steal some shoes. You'll probably get fired then." I get up off the ground and dust myself off. The girl still doesn't notice the missing items of clothes.

I lightly skip to the shoe section, and look for a pair of shoes to match my new jacket. I never actually had shoes, mainly because I never needed them.

I finally found a cute pair of red lace up boots with about a one inch heels. I decided to take a pack of white laces and put them in the boots, replacing the red ones that it came with.

There actually very comfy and fairly easy to walk in, but I walked around in them a little more to make sure they fit well.

Sally must have realized that the jacket, beanie, and gloves are missing, because a loud pitch scream, echoed threw out the store. The scream didn't scare me; it just surprised me that it took so long for her to see that the items are gone.

I walk back to the front of the store and smirk.

Of course I feel bad about the situation I put her in, but she's not my problem. Not being selfish is pretty hard when people that you want to help can't see you.

"Sorry Sal, but I've been wearing the same torn up clothes for a year. You can't blame me for wanting something new." Sally is bent over, banging her head against the cash register.

I decide to ignore her and parade my way out of the store.

Taking a deep breath, I take the beanie and fingerless gloves out of my pocket and put them on. The leather gloves are cold on my hands, but I'm use to the cold. I put my braid over my shoulder so it won't get in the way while I put my hat on.

The soft material of my hat felt nice on my head, I pull down the hat further over my forehead. On the side of the street was a piece of shattered glass. I pick it up and used it to cut off the price tags.

"Perfect!" I turn on the heel of my new boots and look into the window of the shop, only doing so to see my reflection in the glass.

"Nice job" I comment to myself. I twist myself around and pace down the street to a small house.

Only one kid was still there from before.

I leap on top of the fence that surrounds the back yard of the house. "Well, well, well. School must be out."

A little girl with golden blond hair sits on the steps, sobbing into hands. She's not wearing a jacket, she must be freezing.

I jump off the fence and squat down so that I was eye level with her.

"You ok little one?" I slowly crawl to her until I'm about a foot away from her face. She looks up from her from her hands and wipes her wet cheeks with her sleeves.

"Aww, if you stay out here any longer, you'll catch a cold."

After waiting for a response, I realize that I'm not going to get one. So I stand up and dust the snow off my pants, causing some to fall on her head.

"Huh?" The girl looks up towards the sky and smiled. "Jack?"

Jack, I've heard that name before

A boy runs out of the house wearing heavy winter clothes. "Sophie! Is jack here yet?!"

She jumps up off the steps and started to prance around him. "Jack Frost, Jack Frost, Jack Frost!"

The boy that whispered his name to me, that's him! Jack Frost…

"There he is!" the boy's voice fills with excitement.

I spin around on my heels and my eyes widen. In the distance of the sky and rapidly approaching, is Jack Frost.

I need get out of here.

Hurdling over the fence that separated the yard from the rest of the town, I ended up dropping my ruck sack on the other side of the fence.

"Crap!" I lean my back against the fence and sigh.

How am I going to get my bag back! It has all my stuff in it. And I don't want him to see me.

I close my eyes and begin remember that night. I was so scared, but somehow, he made me laugh. I haven't seen him since, but I remember every detail.

His hair was as white as snow. His skin was pale and cold and his eyes were a hypnotic blue. I spent days after that trying to get him out of my head. Eventually I did, but I would occasionally think of him whenever it snowed.

I opened my eyes and was shocked at what to see what was in front of me.

Those blue eyes, I know those eyes.

Pair of blue, mesmerizing eyes is only a few inches away from mine.

He is hanging by the knees from a tree branch that was above my head "You dropped this."

He back flips down from the tree branch and lands gently on his feet.

I don't know what to say! It's like I'm frozen. I have to say something though; I can't just sit here and stare at him in awe.

He reaches out his hand to me. "Let me help you up."

With hesitation, I give him my hand and he helps me up off the ground.

"Th..Thanks" I try to avoid eye contact with him.

"No problem. You're the new spirit everybody's talking about."

The comment surprises me.

"What do you mean?" I say while zipping up my jacket.

"Your Talia cupid, aren't you."

I nod quickly.

He smirks at me. "There hasn't been a new spirit to be born since you."

"When was the last spirit born?"
