Naruto: Seal Master of Konoha

Chapter Two: Revelations

From behind the door of the Hokage's office, one could hear sounds of pain and torment. Now some may be asking; why aren't any of the Anbu guard rushing in to check on the Hokage? That is because this happens every day in the Hokage's office. If someone were to go inside the office they would see the Sandaime Hokage sitting behind his desk grueling over a large stack of paperwork. 'Damn paperwork,' Thought a frustrated Hiruzen. 'I have to do the same thing over and over and over. If only there was way to get rid of it… Wait! That's it!' A mischievous smirk worked its way onto the Hokage's face as he flashed through a set of hand seals that ended on the tiger hand seal. "Fire Release: Small Fire Strea…" Just before he finished the technique he felt a familiar chakra signature appear by his window. Jiraiya…

There was a loud knock on the window behind the Hokage's desk. The Sandaime saw his student Jiraiya sitting on the windowsill, waiting for him to open it. With a audible sigh Hiruzen got up and opened the window.

"Hello Sarutobi-sensei.", Jiraiya answered in a weary but upbeat about tone.

"Jiraiya… we've discussed this before… why do you use the window every time you show up here instead of using a door like normal people?"

"Why would I use a door when there is a perfectly good window right here?"

The Hokage looked at him defeatedly," Fine, but next time please use the door." Not that he will anyway. The third relented then shot The toad sage a questioning look. "Jiraiya, what was so important that you had to rush here to Konoha, and send one of your fastest messenger toads?"

The room took on an air of seriousness as Jiraiya spoke. "This is a matter of Konoha's security and must be taken directly to you." He looked around at the darker corners of the room then turned back. "Sensei, send the out the Anbu you have in the room, and activate the privacy seals, we have a long talk ahead of us and this information is very sensitive."

After hearing this, Hiruzen sent all the Anbu out of his room. He reached under his table and channeled chakra into the privacy seals that were etches there. He then motioned for his student to sit down in one of the chairs that was in the room. "The privacy seals are active and I sent out the Anbu, so we are alone."

"Good. Sensei, remember me telling you about a group of mercenaries that could be dangerous a couple years back?"

The Sandaime nodded. "Yes, if I remember correctly it was one of the reasons you left Konoha and focused on your so your spy network."

"That among other things..." Jiraiya sighed thinking about the defection of his teammate and best friend Orochimaru. "Back to what's important, one of my informants from tea country has picked up information about the organization. We still do not know the name of the organization, but we do know very important details. It seems that the group is made up of S class missing nins. We have no names yet but just this information alone could prove to be troublesome. The reason I came here is because my spy hears that they are after jinchuuriki…" Jiraiya paused so that the information could sink in. Looking at his sensei he could see sadness in his eyes. Hiruzen was troubled but he motioned him to continue. "I came back so fast because I believe that Naruto is in danger. Now these people may not take a move for a while but I want to make sure that he is kept safe…by the way how is the gaki doing? You've stopped updating me about him around the time he was three, so I've got a lot of questions for the boy when I get to meet see him." Jiraiya seemed to get more excited. " After all the letters I've written him, I bet he's been anxious to see me. Who wouldn't be when their God father is the great Jiraiya-sama! Toad sage of Mt. Myoboku!.."

Jiraiya was starting to do his intro dance when Hiruzen answered in a quiet tone, almost a whisper," Jiraiya… I never gave him any of your letters…"

The sannin stopped mid pose and looked at him questionably. "What was that sensei? I didn't hear you."

The old Sarutobi sighed, I'm getting to old for this stuff. " Jiraiya… I never gave Naruto any of the letters from you or even told him about you."

Jiraiya was displeased to say the least. " What do you mean you never told him? How after all he lost, even though not knowing, could you not tell him he still has family left!" Jiraiya was getting angrier by the second but he kept his temper in check. Taking a second to cool down he spoke again. " Sensei, please tell me that a family adopted Naruto. Please tell me he has a family that loves him, or even that you took care of him…" Jiraiya's voice was almost pleading at that point.

"Jiraiya I'm sorry, no one adopted him because of the fox sealed inside him. A majority of the adults in the village despise him or think he is the fox, so getting adopted was near impossible. When he was five the caretakers kicked him out and left him on the streets so I gave him a apartment and took care of him for a while. He's been living alone since then but he…"

The massive killing intent in the room caused Hiruzen to freeze. "You mean he's been alone for his entire childhood so far! How could you do this to him sensei! Do you understand how hard it must be for a child to be alone, wondering what happened to his parents? How much harder do you think it is for Naruto?! He is shunned and hated by most of the people in the village!"

"Jiraiya I can explain… this was the bes…!" Before The Hokage could finish Jiraiya had already grabbed him.

"What do you mean you can explain? This isn't just something you can fucking explain!" The Sannin felt his anger rising. "What, did you think that he could shoulder this alo…" At that moment Hiruzen showed him why he was the God of shinobi. He grabbed Jiraiya by his arms and threw him on the ground, flaring his presence to large heights.

"You will listen to me and let me explain!", Hiruzen said in a all commanding voice. "Now calm down while I explain."

Jiraiya visibly calmed down but on the inside he was seething. 'He better have a good fucking explanation.'

"Now I know I have made mistakes, but we both have. Do not forget that you abandoned him after the he was born." He gazed at him harshly

"We both know that I had to follow up on my ever growing spy network. I was wondering around the world, and I went to many dangerous places, that is no place for a child to be!"

"Don't act like you are blameless Jiraiya. You could have come back and seen him every once and awhile, but you were too engaged in trying to find Orochimaru to come and even see the boy."

It was Jiraiya's turn to look ashamed. "I know I messed up ….but I at least sent him letters and tried to keep up with him…"

"Yes you did… What had happened, happened…What I did, I did for the good of Naruto and the good of the village. With Naruto, there are many factors I had to take into consideration. First of all, his father had too many enemies. If I had made his heritage known, yes he would have a better life in the village, but for how long? How much time would it take for Iwa to send assassins?" Jraiya nodded, understanding the reasoning.

"I understood that…but why did you leave him alone, and allow your people to hate them?"

"I had too high of hopes for the people. They seem to not be able to make up let go of what happened. I had thought that he would be fine with others his age at the orphanage until I was ready to take care of him or find a home, but when he got kicked out that changed. I was too busy to take care of him then so I let him have an apartment. I visited him every week but I could tell he was still longing for someone he could call dad, or mom. My son had run off and my daughter in law hated him, I had no one to take care of him at home, and I certainly didn't trust anyone else… with the citizens hating him, so what am I supposed to do? I can't go around killing and arresting all people because they have an opinion or thought. People have a free will to choose, and as Hokage I want my people to have that choice…Admittedly I could have handled the situation with them better but by the time the idea got a grip on the majority of the population, I couldn't do much. I was busy trying to rebuild the village from the kyuubi attack, and the whole Uchiha affair to focus."

"I see… sorry sensei it's just… I let my anger affect my thinking. It seems that we both failed Naruto…maybe one day he can forgive us."

Hiruzen nodded, "So what are you going to do. Are you going to visit Naruto? The academy releases the students for the day soon."

"Yea I'm going to go see him and introduce myself to him." Jiraiya seemed to sit there mulling over an idea. "Sensei, I'm going to take Naruto with me if he wishes to. I know it isn't the best thing for him, but its better than being here, hated by his own village."

The Sandaime answered him."I cannot allow you to take him. He still has to finish the academy and he is determined to become a shinobi of this village. Wouldn't it be safer for him to be here since that organization is after him?"

"That's true, but can't I just train him and bring him back for the test?"

"No he must create bonds with the kids if his own age group, and go through the academy like everyone else. It's better for him this way. Why don't you just stay here and take care of him?" The Hokage reasoned.

"I would, but I wouldn't be able to be here as much as I'd want, at the most 4-5 days a week if I was as fast as possible meeting with all my informers. The only way would to be if people watch h-." He paused and then a certain busty blonde came to mind. "Never mind I have a plan… Sensei is there any way I could take Naruto to go on a trip? It'll take maybe a month away from the academy but I can teach him while we're away."

Hiruzen was a little puzzled as to what his student had in mind but let it go. "Yes, you may take him, but only if he says so, and you can't go anywhere dangerous."

Jiraiya jumped onto the windowsill and turned around, giving his Sensei a quick wave. "I'm off, see ya later old man." With that said, the Toad Sage leapt out in hopes of finding his Godson.

"Okay class, today we're gonna let you out early!" The teacher paused and let the cheers come. "But remember, read pages 150-163 in your textbook for homework!" A round of boos went throughout the class. Standing watching as his class got ready to leave was a scarred chuunin named Iruka Umino. He was 18 years old, wearing the standard chuunin outfit. He was lightly tanned and had his dark brown hair in a spiked pony tail. He saw his worst student walking out and decided to ask him the question that's been in the back of his mind all day. "Naruto, could you stay back for a second, I need to talk to you." Naruto groaned but turned around.

"Iruka-Sensei, I swear it wasn't me, I didn't do anything!" Today.

Iruka looked at him weirdly but decided to leave that for now. "Naruto I didn't say you were in trouble or anything… I just was wondering what's with you today? You usually don't pay attention in class or pull pranks, but today you seemed to be attentative."

Seemingly happy because he wasn't in trouble, he answered. "Oh that! Well Jiji said that if I want to change something or make a dif- a dif-idence I have to try my best!"

Iruka spews happy for him, even if he still had some problemsmhard feelings towards the boy because of the kyuubi. "You mean difference right?"

"Yea something like that, he said that I had to try hard to make things better."

The scarred chuunin smiled at the boy. "Good! Then I expect you to try your hardest, which also means no more pranks!"

The blond jinchuuriki frowned. "Why Iruka-Sensei, they're so much fun! The looks on people's faces are so funny!" Truthfully to the boy they were like an escape from the loneliness.

Iruka shook his head. "Because they take away from the time you could use to train or study… Go on Naruto I'll see you at school tomorrow."

"Okay Iruka-Sensei!" Naruto turned around to leave but then he remembered something from class. "Hey Sensei, you said in class awhile back about chakra control being one of the most important parts of being a shinobi… is there any way I could make mine better?"

Iruka was a bit shocked that Naruto didn't know the basic ones. "Naruto, didn't Mizuki show you and the class the exercises last year?"

Naruto saddened but smiled through it. "Oh, it might have been the classes I got kicked out of…"

'Mizuki may not like Naruto, but that's no reason not to teach a child the right things… I'll have to find out later what happened' "Ok Naruto let me get you a scroll for basic chakra control." He rummaged through his desk a bit until he found it. "Here you go, and you can keep it since Mizuki never taught you."

"Wow really!" Naruto exclaimed. "I'll see Ya later sensei! Gotta try this, and then learn really awesome jutsu!"

Iruka watched Naruto leave with a smile on his face. 'Maybe I've been wrong about him..'

(In a nearby training ground)

Naruto arrived here as fast as he could. It was the only training ground he knew of and, he figured, he was the the only one that uses it. The training ground wasn't anything nice, just a small field that seemed to have been abandoned for a while, a pond by the outskirts, and a training post. He plopped down under a tree and pulled out the scroll. 'I wonder what type of awesome techniques there will be! I'm gonna be the strongest ninja now with this!' He unrolled the scroll and was a bit disappointed to see there wasn't many cool looking exercises on it. 'Leaf concentration, leaf levitation, tree climbing? I already know how to climb a tree, and all the rest look stupid!' Naruto grumbled to himself. 'Well I guess since it will make me better I can try this stuff' He went and plucked a leaf off a tree. 'Ok so I put this leaf on my forehead and concentrate on it? That's it? This should be easy!' He placed it on his forehead and started to concentrate. The leaf stuck for about a second and then fell. 'Stupid leaf not sticking… maybe it means concentrate my chakra to the leaf.' Naruto tried it again, this time concentrating chakra into it. For a second he thought it worked but then the leaf just shot off his head really fast.

"You're not doing it right." Came a male voice from the other side of the training ground.

Naruto tensed but retorted anyway. "Who are you and why are you watching me!"

A smoke bomb and spewed smoke everywhere. Out jumped a middle aged whit haired man doing a kabuki pose. "It is I the great Jiraiya-sama! Toad sage of , fawned over by millions of ladies everywhere! One of the three legendary sannin-"

"Yea whatever, I'm trying to figure this out so go away." Naruto said getting a little annoyed.

Jiraiya face faulted, he didn't expect him to act like this, even if he never got to know him, everyone knew the sannin. "Kid do you have any idea who I am?" Seeing the blond shake his head no he sighed. "To put it simply I'm a really powerful ninja."

Naruto's whole face lit up on hearing this. "Really? Them could you show me really cool techniques and stuff! I bet you know like 1000 Jutsu or something!"

"Maybe later kid, for now let's see if you can leaf this first exercise. Put the leaf back on your head and let me examine what you do." Naruto did so, and the leaf did the same thing. "Ok I see what's wrong, you are using too much chakra. This exercise is used to teach concentration along with chakra control, mostly because if you don't concentrate enough you can't get the right amount of chakra. The key is to get enough chakra that it won't fall off, but not so much that it blasts off."

Naruto tried again, concentrating as hard as possible. This time it managed to stay for 10 seconds before being pushed off. "Yea I did it! Now I can go to the next exercise!"

"You didn't finish, you need to master this before moving to the next thing."

"Fine, I'll get it by the end of the day, dattebayo!" Naruto responded with eyes burning of determination

'He sounds just like Kushina' Jiraiya thought. "Ok while you do that, I think I'm gonna get some of my 'research' done." Jiraiya left to the outskirts of the training ground, and took out a telescope. 'Oooo from here you get a nice view of the hot springs! Hmm she's gotta be at least a solid D cup, nice blond hair, maybe I can use someone like her in my next book…'

"Okay see ya later Jiraiya- um Sensei!" With that Naruto went back to doing the exercise.

(Sunset)

"Yatta! Now I'll be able to do all the other ones!" A tired looking Naruto said, holding a leaf to his head with only chakra.

Hearing Naruto get it, the toad sage came over. "Really? You got it? I wasn't expecting you to get it this fast, especially with your high reserves."

"That's just because I'm so awesome!" Naruto paused, looking at the sage. "Hey…why did you come and help me, especially someone like you? Usually no one cares or just ignores me…"

Jiraiya was saddened by hearing it but decided it's time to give the kid some good news, that is if he wanted it, and confess. "Well I was looking for you when I found you here, I've got some news for you." Naruto perked up hearing this. "Naruto…I'm your godfather… I know I missed out on some of your life, and haven't been here for you, but I wanna make up for that… How would you like to come and live with me?"

To say Naruto was shocked would be an understatement. He was feeling so many emotions. Anger, hope, fear, love, peace. All these were running through his mind but only something stood out. 'I have family' 'I'm not alone anymore.' The last one broke him. He started crying, but these weren't tears of pain. Rather, these were tears of joy. He jumped into Jiraiya, hugging him and crying into him. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Jiraiya smiled and hugged his godson back. 'Thank you for not hating me..'

He was going to respond to Naruto but it seemed exhaustion caught up with the boy from today's events. He was nodding out in Jiraiya's arms

With one last thought the blond fell asleep with a smile on his face. 'I'm not alone.'
