Chapter 1: My name is Kanda
He can't move, his muscles ache so much and he still had the hole in his chest to worry about. But he can't move. He doesn't remember what had happened after the bright light—the last thing that he could actually remember was his sister's face which held no emotion and his strong desire to save her. He was powerless. Just like seven years ago. Just like that time with Alma.
He doesn't feel pain but he feels the cold snow hitting his face along with his battered body. He was going to die by the coldness, not by the blood loss. A faint chuckle exited his slightly parted lips. He wanted to laugh aloud at how pathetic he is but hell, even that, he couldn't do.
It didn't take a long time for the snow to pile up and almost bury him. He might have gotten a few frostbites but he didn't care now. All he wanted was to live. Because he had someone to return to and that she might be crying by now. But he feels weak. He can't move.
"—ey!" Huh? What was that? A voice? Who would—
"Are you alright?" the voice was melodious in a way that it calmed his nerves. Slowly, he opened his eyes, his chocolate orbs retaining the light that it had previously lost. White as snow. A benevolent pair of silver. Red scar tracing a portion of his face. He was beautiful.
He saw the person's proximity becoming close, hearing the snow beside him being flattened—was the stranger crouching? He wanted him to tell him to go away. To leave him to die. But a part of him wanted for the man to save him. Pride doesn't matter anymore. He can't live sticking to his pride and as to how he uses it.
He could hear the man giggling. What is he giggling for? Was seeing him in so much pain make the man happy? He could feel his face contorting into a scowl. The man was going to pay. He was going to live and kick his ass.
The next thing he knew was that, he was being lifted and placed on something warm. All he could see was a mop of white as for the nth time, he lost consciousness.
** TWO YEARS LATER**
A man with dark azure hair opened his eyes, all he could see was gray. He tried to blink his sleepiness away and was successful in doing so as he sat up from the bed and stretched his arms up. He turned his head to the side, to where the location of the window was, and looked at the rising sun. 'Morning, huh?' He yawned and got out of bed to look at the window. He opened the curtains and was welcomed by a fresh breeze and the sight of the beautiful sparkling sea. A miniscule smile stretched the corner of his lips, "tch."
"What are you grinning about early in the morning, Kanda?" The signature scowl crawl back from its place after hearing the voice. Just right the window, An albino with a pair of silver eyes beamed at him. "Good morning." The albino greeted.
"Hmmph, what a way to ruin a person's morning." Kanda retorted as he strolled away from the window to which the albino was peeking from afterwards, looking at the dark-head's retreating back, "He's such a tsundere, now that's cute." The albino doted, his cheek resting on his palm as his arm leaned on the window.
Kanda swung his sword forward and skillfully pivoted it to the side as if he was cutting an enemy to which was not at all visible to the eye. His dark azure hair that reached to his waist was tied like how the albino tied his shoulder length hair—in a high ponytail, as it flowed and trailed from every movement he took. After a few wide swings, he jumped back and slid on the ground, dusts from under his straw sandals becoming a light smoke. 'Not enough. I have to become more stronger than this.'
"Kanda, why don't you take a break and eat breakfast with me?" The albino popped from behind him who made the inch-only taller male to suddenly take a defensive stance in which, by all means, is deadly. "You're too tense, Kanda. Now, let's go eat, shall we?"
Kanda stared at the Albino like he grew another head. Just like that? Just what the hell was this man that he had been living with for almost a span of two years?
"I'll head back first since I have to set the table. Or do want to help me?" The albino questioned with a smile. And Kanda could tell from the smile that he insists that he should help him. "Tch." The azure-headed male clicked his tongue. The albino who saved his life, who later introduced himself as "Allen" might look like a saint but was more evil than an OverLord could be.
As usual, a huge amount of food was arrayed on table. Foods of all kinds—wait, was that oyster one over there the one from another country where he went to as a prince once?—and colors decorated the all too small table as Kanda could see Allen engulfing the foods as if it was a beverage. He could feel his eye twitching. All he wanted to do was murder the albino here and there because his table manner sucks.
"Did you know that you eat like shit?" He observed as he gulped down the miso soup. He could hear the albino laugh, "Don't say that when you eat miso that way."
Kanda looked at Allen after a gulp from the miso and shot him a glare," Then, why don't you educate me as to how one should eat miso, hmm?" He sarcastically replied.
"How could someone who eats like shit know how to properly eat miso?" Allen questioned back, still indulging himself in eating the different kinds of food. Kanda snapped and rose from the table, "Forget it, conversing with you makes my brain cells die."
"Eat all your food before leaving. Where are your table manners?" Allen scolded and without delay, Kanda slammed the table, "As if you know anything about table manners."
Albino brows knitted upwards as Allen struggled to stifle a laugh, to which was immediately detected by the oh so sharp Kanda as the azure-headed boy leaped to the albino, pinning him down the ground.
"You very well know that I have one hell of a nasty temper, so don't irritate me." Kanda growled in annoyance and as if on cue, Allen bursts in laughter to which added more fuel to the fire.
A tick mark made its appearance on Kanda's forehead as he cracked a fist, ready to punch," You bastard…"
"Ah, Kanda, you're so bold. You might as well as make out with me." Allen joked; amused by the position they were both in. Kanda leaned forward to the point that their noses touched and with a glare and a low hoarse voice, he stated, "I do not make out with men." He then removed himself from the position and left the lying albino, who was once again looking at his retreating back, "As I have said, you're too cute."
"Which of these do you want to buy, beautiful young ladies?" The Kanda strikes his billion watt smile at the group of women who went fangirling because Kanda is just that hot.
"U-umm, I want that mango…" A girl with blonde hair pointed shyly at the mango as Kanda gently picked it up, "A very good pick, young lady. It is smooth and vibrant, just like your skin." And the blonde girl fainted. The group of girls went screaming once more as they tried to imitate the previous girl's antics and was replied by Kanda the same way.
Allen merely looked at the growing crowd (of girls) in front of the small fruit stand that he had built. He couldn't help but laugh at Kanda's expression because it was very false. He knew, because, who wouldn't? After spending two years with the man he picked up on that snowy day, he would know everything he has to know. When would Kanda be very angry, when he would be annoyed, when he doesn't give a single care, and when he would actually be happy. A span of two years was enough.
The albino's eyes darted upwards as he was able to discern a shadow before it disappeared in a millisecond. His smile was replaced by a smirk as he didn't feel the suspicious person's bloodlust towards him but at Kanda instead. 'I see.'
"Kanda." Allen called out and walked towards him. After being seen by the girls that was flocking over Kanda, Allen was suddenly met by warm gazes and another noisy screaming and things about, "Another hottie appears." or "the white-haired guy is handsome too!" and such.
Kanda stared at Allen and quickly understood what he wanted to convey. He couldn't hear the albino's words, but he can make out from the movements of his mouth. He was telling him to dodge. Kanda dived down as the ladies who he was entertaining earlier destroyed the store with weapons in a blink of an eye.
It didn't take long for the bystanders to register what was happening as they ran for their lives and exited the market. The women tore their dresses down and exposed the fitting above knee length dark kimono's that had different colors of pastel sashes with small pockets that could fit a ninja's blade.
Kanda rolled to the ground to avoid the sharp blades that was aimed to maim him. The sweet young ladies that had fangirled earlier were no longer, instead, they had an expression similar to that of a homicidal serial killer that clearly says we-have-found-you.
The blonde girl who had fainted earlier jumped mid-air and rotated like a torpedo, raining the market with various kinds of sharp weapons, and Kanda, who saw the attack, instantaneously pulled out his wooden sword and blocked every object that came down on him.
Three girls contemporaneously attacked Kanda from every side that they could see that was wide open—in which was at the moment, Kanda's left, right and back. Before they could get any nearer, the albino was already behind Kanda to which they were too startled because despite bearing the title of "Akuma" the trained assassins from the Noah Empire, they couldn't see his movement at all.
And before they knew it, they were already sprawled on the ground, disarmed and too stunned to comprehend what was occurring. "W-wha—"
The fall of the three girls made the rest of the assassins more wary and antsy. The mocking faces that they wore were eradicated on their faces as it was replaced by an expression which was driven into a corner.
Kanda and Allen didn't converse anymore. What they did was defeating the assassins with their own skills to display—the other, his swordplay and the other, his clean knife cuts. Both differed from each other but they were similar in a way – they were both strong. Hellishly strong. And violent.
What became after the failed assassination attempt were the bodies of the assassins scattered everywhere, destroying a lot of stands and dispersed on the ground. One could hear a heavy breathing and a slight but quick breathing after the surroundings became silent. The heavy breathing belonging to Kanda , and the slight but quick breathing belonging to Allen. Both attained minor wounds and no major ones.
"Tch, weaklings." Kanda muttered, spitting on the ground and the signature scowl was back on his face.
"You should have seen your face when you were entertaining the assassins earlier! No matter how many times I see it, It still brings tears to my eyes because darn, you don't and never see that face being worn by the great Kanda!" Allen entered a laughing fit as he slammed his fist on the ground numerous of times.
"Shut up, bean sprout! Those stupid women would immediately buy if I show that blasted expression. You were the one who insisted that I should do that rotten smile!" He stomped on Allen's back, which made the albino lose balance and collapse under the pressure of Kanda's feet. But that didn't mean that the albino still didn't stop laughing.
**AFTER A GOOD 5 MINUTES**
Allen was now wiping the excess tears that had resulted from his laughing fit, sitting at the ground. Strangely, the authorities had not yet come back to check the marketplace, in which was good because both of them are dead tired.
The albino deeply exhaled and knelt in front of the azure-headed male, his left fist on the ground and his right hand folded on his back. His head was bowed in a form of respect, "Forgive me for not immediately warning you, Prince Yu. I hadn't realized what they were before I—"
"It's Kanda." The azure-headed male corrected him.
The albino raised his head in confusion, "Pardon?"
"My name is Kanda and we're equals, not me being regarded by you as highly and you, regarding yourself as someone of low status than I do. We live on that same wretched and wrecked house near the sea, and we sell fruits like the peasants we are." Kanda crouched so that he and Allen could be on the same eye-level. Chocolate orbs clashed with the silver ones, the latter loosing the staring game (that had commenced, unbeknownst to both of them) as he sighed in exasperation.
"You're unbelievable, PrinceYu. You and I could never be equals. You're a prince and I'm an assassin. A person scorned by society. To add things up, I'm a fallen. I have no innocence anymore, and to lose it is a sin so grave that I can't be described as a human being." The albino informed, his smile turning into a painful one—a smile that would hardly cross his face seeing that he was a happy-go-lucky person.
Kanda snickered at his statement as he stood up, his hands placed on his hips as he brimmed with confidence, "So what? You're an assassin? You're a fallen? Bullshit. Poor people like us shouldn't give a shit about things like that. You're just making things complicated by divulging on that inferiority complex of yours."
Allen's orbs widened. The prince—No, Kanda was too bright. He was like the sun—A sun that could be a guidepost just by standing there. 'Equals, huh?'
"Stand up and let's go home before the people starts to come back. Let's just say that we were victimized by those women or something." Kanda tilted his head to the side and scratched the back of his head—a quality sight that Kanda rarely does when he's trying to encourage someone.
"But that doesn't explain why they were in the ground tho, Kanda~" Allen stood up and pestered the azure-headed male once again as both of them went home, bickering while they're at it.
"Why did you save me?" Yu placed his hand on his face, the veins in his head throbbing and making it severely ache. He looked at the sixteen year old boy in front of him, slightly wheezing because of the wound in his chest.
"Why you ask?" The albino's smile widened, as it turned into a beam. He reached his hand towards the azure-headed male, "Because you look interesting. What's your name?"
Yu scowled at his answer but pondered at what answer he should give. Should he give him his real name? Before he could think through, his lips parted a little, "Kan…da…"
The albino blinked, "Kanda? Your name's Kanda?" The prince shot the albino a glare, "Why? What's wrong with having that name?"
"Nah, it's just that, It's kinda cool! My name's Allen, a pleasure to meet you, Kanda!" All Kanda could remember from that past was how he shook his hand and how he introduced himself from there on.
"My name is Kanda. And likewise." For the first time, Prince Yu wasn't rude in introducing himself. Maybe, the name "Kanda", has that charm to it.

PREVIEW: Separation
The figure raised its hands, and he wanted to scream—his gut kicking in and yelling danger. What clutched on the figure's hand was the head of the unknown man he called "Old man". He could see how the once thin line lips bent upwards and formed into a deranged smile.
"Well, It's not that we can't cross it. Not when our captain is such a daredevil."
"A Handsome daredevil, for your information."
"LET'S GO FACE THE STORM HEAD ON!"
