A/N: Thank you so much for reviewing guys it made my day! Really – being rejected by the male species is real downer... So... Sorry for taking so long to update – my life decided to trip me up and make me fall on my face. (It succeeded).
Okaayyy Story!
The front door burst suddenly open. Kaname grabbed the covers and hastily tossed them over the little girl. Sprinting from the room he snarled, "Stay there!" to the lump. Hunters swarmed into the house to find him. Using his vampire speed he shot downstairs and stopped in front of them, bowing, listening to their fragile human heartbeats. How easy it would be to annihilate them all, he thought, one flick of my wrist could snap their puny spines... But luckily for this force he maintained his composure, needed to know who sent them and why they were here.
Some of the soldiers had not yet noticed his presence and were inching further up the stairs.
"STOP!" he commanded and his words were like aged glaciers, his voice was hard and cold, ringing through the mansion he lived in. The hunters found themselves bound where they stood; unable to disobey his orders, yet they struggled against his tight bonds.
"Who is your leader? Who sent you here?" he queried and one man was released. He looked terrified and awed; sweat pouring off him as Kaname slowly leant into his pallid face. Jerking under Kaname's gaze he fainted. Kaname dropped his limp body to the floor with a look of distain. He glanced around and saw a face he had seen.
"Ah, Mr Kaien Cross. How good it is to finally meet you. I have obviously heard rumours of your ferocity. However, one does not simply barge into a vampire home. Much less the home of a pureblood vampire. But," he continued harshly, "it seems you have now learnt your valuable lesson." Bringing his hand swiftly back, he snapped it forward to strike Kaien. His movements were unopposed and he gave Kaien a resounding slap to his left cheek.
Kaien's head snapped to the left.
"Yes Mr Kaname Kuran," he bowed (having being previously released, unlike the rest of the hunters who were at this point looking on in shock), "it seems that I have learned a most valuable lesson."
"Leave," he snarled his fangs protruding forward making him into the terrifying beast he could be. Quickly they ran for the doors, squeezing out and into the sun.
"And never, ever come back!" Kaname turned in shock. And before anyone could react he was cuddling the small child.
"Aww!" he exclaimed, rubbing his cheek against her face (in that way which only animes' do), "can I keep her? Please? Mama will cry!" he said the last with a pout and big puppy dog eyes. "Please?" he begged, "I'll do anything!"
"No." Kaname insisted flatly, he could never lose her again. He would never let her go.
"Aww come on, she's so cute!" The Hunter argued, by this time they were alone.
"No." Kaname repeated, intoning the word.
"I'll keep her safe. She'd be safe from other vampires with me. You could visit!" Kaname stalled. Is this what he wanted? He did want her to be happy. But could she be happy with this vampire hunter, this blundering fool.
"No."
"Please! And I would keep her safe. I know! I'LL MAKE A SCHOOL!" He yelled.
"You. Become an ex-slayer. You must be joking." Kaname told him, brow furred.
"You could attend you know." Kaname looked at him shocked; we were just- now he- he's decided to make a school in a minute? "We could have humans and vampires attending. All living together in perfect harmony."
"You know better than anyone that my kind are predators, humans are prey. And mostly they're weak and vulnerable. Apart from you hunter idiots. You know we vampires know no other lifestyle." Kaname stated. He knew he was backing down but how would a pureblood look associated with a feral hunter. Not good, that's how.
Kaien resorted to begging. Along with the puppy-dog eyes. "Please Kaname. It would make Mummy so happy." He pouts, "Please help make Mummy happy."
Kaname raised his eyes to the ceiling. "How on Earth would this ever work? Humans and vampires could never co-exist. It would be too difficult, too risky, too dangerous." Or could they? A little voice whispered into his mind. It can't be that hard to live with humans. Maybe I can find energy and be sated by something other than blood. Could that be possible...? Speaking too fast for Kaien's ears to catch and under his breath he grumbled, "I can't believe I'm actually going to cooperate with this..."
"Fine." He finally, reluctantly agreed. "You need to take good care of her. She's everything I've got." Sliding his cell out from the pockets of designer jeans, he walked away, already punching in a number.
