Because Of My Love For You - Coral

Chapter 2

Yata waited at the enterance, fifteen minutes before their agreed time. He hadn't made an effort to change his attire for the occasion. The boy- man now, had his headphones on and was slighting tapping his foot to the beat. He didn't realize that ten minutes had passed and Yuka was standing in front of him, watching the young man being oblivious to his surroundings.

This time, Yuka wasn't in her half-uniform. Instead she wore a blue, high collar, checkered and sleeveless blouse with black shorts. Her hair was tied back with a elegant blue ribbon. She opted for her glasses instead of contacts. Her appearance startled the waiting man.

"Wo-woah!" he jumped and pushed his headphones off.

"Good morning Yata-san. I hope I'm not too late." she waved.

Yata by now, had recovered and took a glace at his watch. They still had five minutes till nine. The HOMRA clansman shook his head.

"F-five minutes."

"I see, well what time did you come?" she peered at him.

"I-I just came," Yata turned away, "let's line up now."

They stood in line, they still had about twenty more people before they could buy the tickets. Yata was half a foot away from her and red.

You're so hopeless! Make a move, hold her hand, bring your arm around her or something! Cares from Chitose : ) Yata turned redder at his suggestion, but then he realized that they were spying on him.

Screw off Chitose! Besides, this is the fir- second. Isn't that moving too fast? Yata replied, hiding his head from the curious look that Yuka gave him.

Better fast than slow and bored! I have a suggestion, why don't you let me take over? ; )

No! Yata had threw his phone down, effectively cracking the screen and destroying the mobile.

Yuka, who have been amused by watching the emotions go through Yata's face, was officially curious. What had caused him to turn redder, and then embarrass, and finally anger?

"Is everything alright?" Yuka covered a laugh with her hand.

"Wh-what?! Y-yeah! I-I'm fine!" Yata jumped.

His outburst had turn all attention around them towards the short man. The bystanders were making suspicious looks and were whispering some disheartening things. Yata turned to glare at them and they turned away and stopped. While the man was busy with glaring at the whole world, Yuka made it her job to pick up the broken phone. She observed the damage and wondered what his strength was, as the phone is good as gone.

"Here," she handed the phone back to the heated man, "It looks good as gone, though."

"H-huh!? Oh! Yeah, um. Oh look, the lin-line's m-moving." Yata grabbed her wrist and pulled her along.

Those two, Shohei and Bando, were so brutal to me, they teased me for everything. I think Chitose had told them that I had an... outing with a girl. I knew they were spying on me, making fun of me whenever they could. I'm pretty damn sure that they could tell that I was debating if I should attempt to hold your hand and laughed when I held your wrist instead.

But I wished I was brave enough to hold your hand, however I was an idiot. At the booth, I offered to pay for your ticket, but you wouldn't let me. You reasoned with; it would be inappropriate for someone to pay for the tickets at the second date.

When you said date, I grew red. I didn't know that you had considered it a date- well I did, but I thought it was one-sided. I was happy that it wasn't.

We had finally made it into the park. It was early and wasn't as crowed as it could be. But we both knew that by the afternoon, it would be busy. We took the chance of no lines and rode as much attractions as we could. I liked to big rollercoasters and no matter how much you enjoyed the teacups, I don't think I can ever handle that. So please don't ever ask me again- who am I kidding, if you had asked one more time, just one more time then, I would have rode it.

There were more people appearing in the park and my stomach made an embarrassing growl. At first I ignored it, but then it kept coming back. People were starting to look, and finally you stopped.

"Are you hungry?" you asked.

"N-no!" I turned away.

"Okay, well, I'm hungry. I overslept and missed breakfast." you smiled.

But I know now that you had lied, you weren't one to oversleep. You took my hand and pulled me to a cafe. A waitress had dropped off two menus before rushing off to another costumer. A waiter had come after a few minutes, asked what you wanted (you ordered a simple salad and tea). Then looked at me, I think I ordered a majority of the menu. Just before he left, he gave you a wink. I glared the waiter down as he walked away.

When the food came, I 'accidentally' tripped the waiter as he left. I think you knew what I did, but made no comments about it. Thank you. I didn't think jealousy was cool. I still don't, but I'm jealous of my past self. I wish I could spend more time with you.

As I chomped on food, I took a break and looked at your untouched bowl.

"Ar-aren't you hun-hungry?"

"A bit." you answered with a smile. "So, since it's been a while, has your girl problems improved?" you laughed.

"Uh- I- Yes!" I lied and you saw right through it.

"Okay," more laughing, "That's why I'm here right?"

You asked me simple things, favourite colour, food, hobbies, anything in a small and pointless conversation. But it wasn't pointless to me, and I hope it wasn't to you. From those kind of conversations, I learned more about you.

You like blue, salads, but not ceasar salad. Sometimes you do puzzles with your brother but most of the time you read.

We continued talking until a mascot, some kind of sunflower-bear-angel thing, walked up to us. I didn't realize that it was the park's mascot- what kind of terrible people would do that!?

"Hello!" a feminine cheerful voice chimed.

"Ah, hi Anlia." you seemed to know who was in that mascot- I do now, but then I didn't.

"Yuka! I can see that you're on a date with a special someone!" she teased.

"I suppose so, but we aren't-"

"You mean he didn't ask you anything yet?!" the mascot interrupted her.

"N-"

"I- um, uh, I'm so-sorry fo-for inter-interrupting you, bu-but um. I-if y-you wo-would l-like, uh, um, w-would y-you ple-" this time I was the one to cut her off, "t-to g-get to k-know you be-better-"

"It's okay, you don't have to ask because of my friend." Yuka consoled.

"B-but!" I stood up, I didn't want to lose a chance.

"I'll wait." you reassured.

It's funny though, then I didn't want to lose that chance, but I lost it anyways.

Then your phone rang and you picked it up. It was another hushed conversation, a quick goodbye and then you looked at me with a sorry face.

"I apologize again- my work has an emergency and I need to go. But let's meet up again in a week to buy you a new cell phone. We should meet at noon by the candy store."

"O-okay!" I somehow let out.

Your friend and I watched you leave in a hurry. Then she turned and faced me. Even though I couldn't see her face, I could tell she was scheming something. But she left instead.

There's a lot of things that I missed the chance on, but this was one of my biggest regret. It's too late to even correct the wrong. No king's aura could fix the mess that they created. I still sit in my hallow room, the tray of food outside my door, cold. Only to have someone to take it away and bring another hot meal to turn cold.

Someone shuffled in front of my door. It was light and undecided. Probably Anna.

"They're going out on a mission. Kamamoto-san wants to know if you are going to join Yata-san." she quietly knocked on my locked door.

It's been a while since I've went out and blew some steam. Perhaps I should go this time, spend some of my anger. I stood up and made my way to the door. When I opened it, Anna looked shocked before she nodded and lead me to the bar.

Masaomi, Chitose, Kamamoto, Kosuke and Eric were in the bar, preparing for what ever they were going to do in the mission. Eric gave me a glace and scoffed when my eyes met him. I jumped, but stopped when Anna had took my sweater. She shook her head and I understood her.

I shouldn't be taking my anger out on my comrades, no matter how much they pissed me off. Izumo opened the front door and walked in. He was lighting his cigarette. It seems that he has been smoking a lot more.

"Oh, Yata, are you joining them today?" he gave me a pity look in his eyes.

"I want to blow some steam." I bit, I don't need those looks.

"I think you should sta-"

"No. I'm going." I stood my ground.

He should understand that I needed this. I just couldn't stay in my empty room and not think about her. Izumo sighed and looked even more tired.

"I miss her too, but- fine, if you must go, go. But don't go overboard." He warned before taking Anna back upstairs.

I followed the team out the bar, Masaomi leading the way. I don't understand why they brought the weak ones for a mission. Sure their loyalties gave them strength but they were still weak. Walking on the small streets, we turned into an alley and waited on both sides of the door. Kosuke counted down from three and on one, we broke the door.

Our targets were regular punks who were causing quite some blood on our turf. We needed them to stop or else the Blue Clan will bother us. The four looked up from their fire. In their hands were some sort of syringed- some sort of drugs. Something in me clicked.

"No blood. No bone. No ash." I muttered alone and charged at them.

Swinging my bat on my skateboard and easily made toy of them. But I didn't stop when each and every one fell onto their asses. When one tried to stand back up, I swooped by to smash their skulls. Soon their blood began to fly, covering any surface. I wasn't paying attention to my comrades and I'm pretty sure that they're calling me to stop.

I was going back and forth, changing the victims of my bat as fast as their blood spilled. Soon, only one of the four was still breathing. He was bloody as hell and jumped me. Quickly I turned around and stopped him with the blunt tip of my bat. I kept it pressed against his face as the fire grew, his screams died.

"Yata!" Kamamoto called and pulled me away.

"What are you doing!" I screamed at him. "I need to fin-"

"Enough! Look, they're all dead." Kamamoto never eased his hold on me, "You need to keep your emotions in check. This is overboard. We're done here." he began to pull me out of the building, "Burn the bodies." he instructed our other comrades.

The walk back was silent, except for Eric's laughs. He was taunting me, and I had to keep my cool. Riding on my skateboard, I pushed myself forward, out of earshot of Eric's. I was the first to return back at the bar. Izumo gave me one look and decided to not bother with me.

Sitting in my quiet room, I could hear Kamamoto speaking with Izumo. He reported that I was too bloodthirsty, and Mikoto would give a laugh at that. My once friend Kamamoto said I went overboard and that they didn't even get a word in. Okay, so apparently our mission wasn't suppose to kill them, but I did.

Picking up my pen, I ignore the fact that Kamamoto said something about interrogating them.

That week of waiting is what I would have called 'waiting in agony' now, but then I was just impatient. My comrades had complained that they couldn't reach me because I didn't have a phone. They urged me to pick up a new one, but I was waiting for you.

No one made comment about my behaviour. Well only an occasional grunt from Mikoto and a giggle from Anna. I suspected that she was gossiping about me.

When Sunday came, I arrived twenty minutes early to purchase a few candies. I wonder what candy is your favourite? But it's not like I'm going to get an answer now.

You came ten minutes after me, dressed in a blue summer dress, and hair in a braid. Oh god, you were so pretty there.

"Good afternoon, I hope you ate something today," you chuckled, "Did you last a week without a phone? You could have just bought one without me."

"N-no. I-" how do I say something without sounding like an idiot? "It was a pro-promise."

We headed for the cell store. Inside there lined tables of cell phones. A worker walked up to us and greeted in a familiar voice.

"Hey! It's Yuka and... you." Anlia frowned when she looked at me.

"What?" I frowned back.

"Oh nothing." She spat.

"Anlia, be nice. There's nothing wrong with Yata." Yuka intervened.

"Fine. So, what brings you here?" Anlia painstakingly made it obvious that she was talking to her friend.

"Yata needs a new phone. Have any recommendations?"

"...Yea, follow me."

Anlia brought me to a table under a sign 'Simple Phones for the Elderly'. I think we broke into an argument there. You were quite annoyed but reprimanded your friend for being rude. You know she's still rude to me.

I ended up with a red smart phone, and the cashier you left my side to look at the little dangly stuff. Anlia gave me an... smile.

"Yata, would you mind if you come with me while I get your sim card?" she pointed to a door.

Being targeted by her gave me a weird feeling. I cautiously walked behind her into the employees' room and into a closet like a stupid kid.

Notes: Okay, so there's three 'perspective'

The present,

The flashbacks,

And finally, the letter.
