A/N: Thanks to my reviewers and all there suggestions and comments! I thought I had gotten all the spelling/grammar mistakes, but I read it again and saw I didn't, sorry! It doesn't help that this stupid keyboard I'm using sometimes doesn't respond stabs the 'e' key five times before an 'e' actually shows up on the screen, but I shouldn't make excuses for my own mistakes. Also someone said they were glad Hermione wasn't Mary Sueish. I feel stupid asking but...what does that mean? Anyway, here is the next chapter; sorry it took so long to get up!
Disclaimer: JK Rowling owns Harry Potter (duh!), but I do own the plot starts celebrating, then realizes her plot isn't that good.
Chapter Two: Letters
It was a Sunday afternoon and Hermione Granger had locked herself in her room. She was on her bed, reading. Her mother had gone out somewhere, but Hermione hadn't been listening when she had told her. She had learned to block things out when she read, like the knocking on the window..."Hold it!" she thought "Knocking on the window?" Looking up, Hermione saw a large, beautiful snowy owl framed in her window, Hedwig.
Getting up she opened the window and let Hedwig in. the owl held out her leg and Hermione removed the letter. It read:
Hermione,
This is Ron. Harry let me borrow his owl because Mum and Dad sent Pig out to deliver a letter to one of there friends without asking me. How is your summer going? Anyway, Mum wanted me to ask you if you wanted to come over and stay for the last week of summer. Also, were have you been? Harry and I haven't heard from you in ages. Respond back soon!
Sincerely,
Ron
Hermione smiled, it was nice to hear from her friends again. She slowly put down the letter to deal with the question at hand. It would probably be good for her to leave, get away from it all. However, she couldn't just abandon her Mum like that! Really though, she had sort of already abandoned her Mum by ignoring her for all this time.
"Oh I'll think about this later!" she thought and went back to her book.
...
As she ate dinner that night, Hermione was more silent then usual. She was thinking about Ron's letter and staring at her zucchini when her mother said "Is there something bothering you dear? I mean something other then the obvious?" she finished quietly. Hermione continued to stare at her food, and then she slowly looked up.
"Mum, I got a letter from my friend Ron today; he was inviting me to spend the last week of break at his house, but I'm not sure if I should go." She said this all rather quickly, to get it over with.
"Well I think you should honey. You need to get away from this stuffy old apartment! Won't it be nice to see your friends again to?" said her mother, a pained look in her eyes. Hermione didn't see this and relief spread over her face "So I can go? Oh thank you Mum!" Hermione jumped up and hugged her mother, and then went back and finished her dinner with great enthusiasm.
...
That night Jane Granger sat up in bed thinking. She loved Hermione, and didn't want to let her go any earlier then she had to. She also knew that it would do Hermione good to get away; maybe it would help her deal with the grief. Hermione had taken her fathers death very hard. It was for the best that she leave.
Whether it was best for Hermione to leave was not the only issue though. Jane was worried that something might happen to her sweet Hermione, and she just wouldn't be able to deal with that now.
Sighing she rolled over and tried to sleep, but her thought kept her up all through the night.
A/N: I know it is rather short, but I've been busy unpacking an endless amount of boxes. I felt so bad that I hadn't updated recently and decided to just get this little bit up! Chapter three is a long time coming by the way. I haven't had much time to write, plus I want to make it REALLY long.
