The funeral was being held at the church that Ryan and Jenny got married one week after the accident. Lanie did all the autopsy's as soon as possible for the funeral.

Everyone who RSVP'd showed up and filled the church. Castle, Beckett, Alexis, and Martha arrived an hour early just in case anyone needed help with anything.

"Hey." Beckett greeted Ryan in the church with an emotional hug. "How are you?" She added, "What can I say?" Ryan replied sadly.

"Ryan, I am so sorry." Alexis said with a hug. Right at that moment, she embraced him. He let go and they followed Ryan to their pews. This gave Alexis a minute to think to herself. "Crap. I think I like him." Alexis thought to herself. "I can't like him! He's to close to my dad, and a kind of older then me." She thought nervously, but didn't show it.

"What if, I don't know, we went out. What would that mean? What if he did like me back. Ugh!" She was confused with herself. How could she like someone who she doesn't even know that well?

"Hey Alexis?" Castle snapped her out of it, "Why don't you see if Ryan needs help with anything." He suggested after talking to him, and she pondered off.

Ryan was talking to the priest- but the priest left when Alexis approached. "Oh hi, Alexis."

"Hey, Ryan." She greeted with a hollow grin, "You can call me Kevin." He pleased and she nodded.

"How are you doing?" She asked nicely, "Eh, we have no new leads and the case is almost hitting a dead end, but I'm never going to give up."

"Gates is letting you work the case?" Alexis asked surprised, "No. They've been working at the precinct and I'm working from home. She doesn't know."

"I know you'll solve it. You're pretty smart." Alexis complimented, and Ryan gave a slight smile. No one has seen him smile for what felt like forever.

Ryan saw Jenny's parents walk in. "I'll catch you later." Ryan said finding a bit of comfort in her.

The funeral was powerful and emotional. Ryan gave his speech and promises about how he was going to catch the one who shot her.

Two days later

Kevin Ryan sat in front of his murder board. He had his wife and daughter pinned under the victims section, and no one under suspects. "No leads. No trace. No suspects. This could be the perfect murder." He thought to himself.

No, he couldn't think that. Ryan knew that out there, in his city, this monster was prowling around the streets. There has to be something that could lead them to the killer. He wanted to get inside this sick bastard's head.

Ryan felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, and the caller ID read Esposito, and he answered it in a heartbeat.

"Ryan?"

"Hey."

"We MIGHT have a lead."

Ryan's heart pounded.

"What is it?" He blurted anxiously.

"We did another canvass, and sure enough, we got someone who saw the killer. Harry Nolt is with the sketch artist now." Esposito announced.

"When the witness is done, can you send me the picture?"

"Actually, Gates was asked to attend a meeting up in Washington D.C. for a week. She specifically told us not to bring you up here, but you could come up and work with us."
