Chapter 2: Where Are We?

She was on metal. That was good. She could tell that she was on some sort of metal contraption, and from the shape of it, it felt like a submarine, which meant she wouldn't be able to get off if she wanted to live. It's not like she could swim, and even if she did, she wouldn't be able to tell which way was up and which was down.

At least the ship was made of metal so that she could see. There were other people in the room. If she was right, three allies, if you could call them that, and one unknown. She sat up, sliding off of the bed, and looked in the direction of the stranger.

"Hello," she said, looking directly at him.

To say that Law was surprised that the blind girl was looking directly at him would be an understatement. She seemed to be perfectly aware of her surroundings, but he was sure he was blind. He took a moment to inspect her again.

She was short, her blank eyes a light grey, with a touch of green. Her face was hard and was fit into a practiced poker face, showing no signs of emotion. She had short, black hair, with a green headband with small white puffs at the bottom of it. Despite her short stature, she stood tall and proud, her presence emanating from her, and he around her could feel that she was more of a threat than she appeared to be. Her outfit was green and white, with green pants and a shirt covered by a creamy white dress like cover. Around her waist was a dark green leather belt with small golden studs. Around her wrists and ankles were green bands. She turned to face the other girl, who seemed to have just awoken, somehow knowing that she was there.

"Rise and shine, cupcake," she said, grimacing.

"Shut up," the girl said.

"I see you're as cheerful as ever," the short one said.

Law shifted his eyes to the second girl. She was taller and slimmer than the shorter girl, but instead of a poker face, she had a scowl. She seemed disinterested in the happenings around her. Her eyes were narrowed and slanted slightly, golden in color. Her hair was long, kept in two ponytails at the base of her neck and two buns at the top of her head. She wore all shades of red and lounged on the bed instead of standing up. Her voice was smoky and low, in contrast to the clear and concise voice of what he assumed was her friend.

"Where are we?" the taller girl said to the shorter one.

"How am I supposed to know?" the short girl said, smiling and running her hand in front of her face.

"Oh, don't give me that, we're on metal, feel it out if you have to," she said. Trafalgar listened closer at this. Feel it out? What did that mean, maybe she had some sort of devil fruit ability.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, princess, but I can only tell you we're on some sort of submarine, I'm pretty sure. Which means we're under water. I have no idea where. Ask him," she said, bringing her hand around to point at him. He had moved from where he had been previously sitting, but she had managed to follow him somehow, interesting.

The girls watched him expectantly, but when he didn't say anything, the taller girl sighed. "He's not saying."

"You didn't ask," the short one said. She turned to him, "Well, are you gonna tell us or not? We don't have all day before the bozo wakes up, and he'll probably break something and you'll be too mad to tell us so chop chop."

He simply lifted an eyebrow.

"That's not how you ask someone for something, you have to be polite. Here, I'll show you. You, tell us where we are," she said, quick and to the point. He simply lifted his other eyebrow.

The shorter girl began clapping, "Yes, that was incredible. So charming, A+."

"As if you could do better," was all the taller girl said.

The shorter girl approached him. He didn't know if he wanted to move or simply let them continue to talk, they were quite interesting to watch. He opted to watch for a while longer.

The shorter one poked his cheek, which annoyed him, but he allowed, as he didn't want to give anything about himself away. "Maybe he doesn't talk. The crazy combustion guy that Zuko sent after us, you know the one that sent fire from his mind?"

Law simply lifted an eyebrow again, fire from his mind.

"Yes, I remember," the taller one said.

"Well, he didn't talk. He just kinda grunted and sniffed."

"Sniffed?"

"Yea, before he shot the fire, he would sniff in and then sniff out when he fired. It was kinda weird if you ask me, but he was kinda weird. Anyways, that's not the point. Maybe, this guy's like him, and he doesn't talk."

"Do you think he can bend? His clothes are weird, and I can't tell what nation he's from," the taller one asked.

"I don't know. And welcome to my world, by the way. I doubt he's an earth bender though, there's not earth on this hunk of junk anywhere, and I only just created metal bending so it's not like he can do that. Obviously not an airbender, since Aang's the only one. I guess he could be a fire bender, but could you imagine Zuko or Azula under water? Not a pretty sight. I'd go with water bender if he is one," the shorter one said.

"What exactly is a bender?" he finally said.

"You could speak this whole time and you wouldn't answer our question of where we were?! And how do you not know what bending is?" the shorter one answered him, sitting on the bed in front of him.

"I didn't feel like answering, and I simply don't," he said.

"Well, then, maybe we don't feel like answering your question," she said.

"Then, I suppose we're at a bit of a standstill," he said, eyeing her down. She did surprisingly well in a staredown. They continued to stare at each other for a few minutes, interrupted by the taller girl once, who said, "I'm bored," before lying on her back and watching the ceiling.

Then there was a rustling on one of the beds, "Did someone give me cactus juice again?"

The girl broke her eye contact and groaned, going to the boy's side, "Don't break anything."

"What are you talking about? I would never!" he said, looking at her incredulously. His eyes then landed on Law, "Who's the dude?"

Law looked at the boy. He had deep brown hair, shaved on the sides, but left long and pulled back into a short ponytail in the back in the middle of his head. He had blue eyes, and darker skin. He had on blue clothes, with a white shell necklace, and he seemed to be somewhat slow. On his back was a blue boomerang and a sheathed sword. To most, he may not seem like a man to be worried about, but Law could see definition in his arms, and he could tell he had seen many battles, from the wary look he had in his eye when watching Law.

"He looks kinda funny," the boy said, looking to the shorter girl for confirmation. Law didn't find this funny, he thought the boy was being wary, but it seems he just thought him strange.

"Yes, of course, I can see what he looks like perfectly," she deadpanned.

"Oh, right sorry," the boy said, inspecting the man again. The man was strange looking, putting it simply. He had on a white hat, with brown spots dotting over the bottom of it. It covered his black hair, but he could see where the hair escaped its confines near the man's ears. Sideburns ran down his face and the man also had a goatee. He was tall and thin, but still muscular. His eyes were calm, no sense of distress held in them, and the irises were golden. His mouth settled into a calm smile and he had two small gold hoops through each ear. He had on a yellow and black hoodie three quartered sleeved shirt that had a strange symbol imprinted on the front of it. Another symbol was inked onto the back of his hands, along with the word "DEATH" and a few other tattoos revealed themselves on his arms. He had on light blue pants with black spots along them.

Now Law could see that it was just the boy's attitude, he really was searching for danger, but he didn't seem too distressed about his situation until the boy realized something.

"There's only four of us here," he said.

"Take ya awhile to figure that out, smart butt?" the shorter girl said.

"Yea, you really are slow sometimes, I don't know why Ty Lee seems so interested in you," the taller girl said.

"I'd ask, but she's not here, and neither is my sister, or Zuko, or Aang, or Iroh, or Bumi, or AZULA. AZULA'S GONE WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!" he began yelling.

The smaller one hit him on the head, "Calm down, we know they're not here, but what are we supposed to do about it?"

"We all know, if Azula is on the loose, she'll kill everyone. She almost killed Zuko AND Aang AND Katara. She knows no bounds; family means nothing; friends mean nothing. Nothing means nothing. We're all screwed," he cried.

"Pull yourself together! If we ended up together, someone else is probably with her. Now, can we get on to the important stuff, like where we are?" she looked pointedly at the man before her.

"I told you, I want to know what bending is," he said.

"He doesn't know what bending is?" the boy began laughing. "Kick his butt and then we can go."

"You idiot, we all know you don't have to be a bender to be strong. Besides we're on a submarine, and I can't swim, and we still have one more who's unconscious."

"So we'll wait for him to wake up he's a water bender, he can help us."

"Shut up, before you make me hit you again," she said, before turning to the man. "Tell us where we are and how to get back to the Fire Palace and we'll tell you, and I can even show you what bending is."

"Tell me first, and I might decide to help you. Although I will tell you this, I have no idea where the Fire Palace is."

"What?" she said, hitting her face, "Of all the people to get stranded with, we get one who doesn't know what bending is OR where the fire palace is. Where have you been, living with the Sun Warriors?!"

"The who?" Law lifted an eyebrow.

"Nevermind," she said, "Just tell me: Where. Are. We?"
