Hopefully nothing had gone to hell while he was gone, although on some level he knew that it had. It always descended into chaos, for one reason or another.

When he had left, for the perfectly convenient excuse of talking to Kelly about an upcoming race, Ninja Ops had been a verbal chaos.

Somehow between the three of them, his brother, Shane, and Dustin, had managed to not only delete the brand new program their green techie had been working on but also spill a liter of coke on the keyboard and the surrounding system.

As understandably expected, Cam was not happy.

At all.

That had turned into a yelling match quiet easily, nothing being heard as their voices tried to overpower each other before raising their noise levels to accomplish that goal.

The worse part of it though was that Tori had had a headache. She had furiously been massaging her temples after downing more than the recommended dosage of pain pills, having given up hissing at the four of them to shut the hell up.

So when there was a extremely loud, irritated tension in the air, he had left.

Now as he returned, his navy ranger self-hoped to the morphing grid that Ops still existed.

He had theorized two possibilities:

One – The bloody verbal fight had come to blows, before they all gave the others concussions/other non-life threatening injuries with Tori eventually breaking it up.

Two – Tori, summoning the dangerous, and frankly scary, side of her brought of the 'death voice' and scared them all into silence.

For some reason, he thought the second was more plausible, since with a headache, little noise can be tolerated. And four screaming idiots does not fall under the category of a little noise. Although not to say that the first wasn't possible…

So walking down the steps, he looked for bloodstains.

There were none in sight.

At least he didn't miss the amusement of a good brawl.

The possibility of the second theory increased, so he made sure to make no sudden movements as to surprise an angry female ranger.

"Tori?" Cautiously, he peered into the main area.

There was Tori, stretched out on the couch in a position of having not a care in the world.

Strange, perhaps the others had taken the fight outside? But then he would have run into them, or at least seen evidence of the inevitable physical battle.

"Where are the others?"

There was no response, the blonde female not even acknowledging that he had spoken nor that he was even there. That was not normal Tori behavior, but considering how irritated he had left her, it wasn't surprising. It still hurt though; you would think she would at least give him a glare.

But then his outlook changed as he saw them.

Two little white cords lying across her chest; ah, that's why she didn't hear him.

Music was something they all appreciated, putting in the headphones and ignoring the others was a very common practice when irritation and tension was on the rise. Not to say that debates about music choice didn't come up, Tori had defended her Christina Aguilera by bashing their heads while playing some song named 'Keeps Getting Better' or something of that sort.

He personally didn't care about that kind of stuff.

Besides, picking a fight with her about music wasn't a great plan since Hunter had already been punched over that before. Dumbass.

Speaking of his brother, where were the others?

Maybe Tori just kicked them out? That was a reasonable explanation as to why there was no tension in her body and it was deathly quiet in the central operations of their team.

He decided to go with that explanation in order not to break the moment of calm and organized silence.

The only thing he had to do was put his shoes away and he was good. Since the floors of Ops had become filthy lately, their only female member had instituted a rule in which everyone had to put their shoes in one of the many closets, in order to not drag dirt everywhere.

Slipping out of his sneakers, which had a tiny bit of mud on them from his trek in the forest, he held them in one hand while opening the closet with the other.

His eyes widen when he saw what was inside…

There was his missing teammates, all tied up with rope and with duct tape over their mouths. They all squinted at the new source of light before starting to feebly struggle against their bonds.

"MHHHHHH!" Was the verbal response he received from them all.

So that's what had happened to them.

He knew Tori was scary, but…he slightly peeked over his shoulder to make sure she wasn't going to throw him in there too.

With the four staring at him, he made a decision.

Throwing his shoes in, which happened to hit Dustin in the head, he quickly closed the door so they couldn't wiggle out.

Taking a breath, he slide next to her on the couch.

He would let them out, eventually.

But for now…

She laid her head on his shoulder; he felt any tension vanish from his body.

…he wanted to enjoy the silence.
