"Whiz has brought to my attention that our universe may benefit from some additional reputable warriors. It does without saying Vegeta, that despite a rather dark past, you Saiyan's have proved invaluable to the protection of this universe." The Supreme Kai seemed reluctant to continue with this conversation.
"In light of recent events, Beerus and I have decided to remove a "block" you may have noticed that was placed on the dragonballs after your arrival on Earth." I could tell he chose his words carefully and couldn't help but to roll my eyes. Trunks had informed me, years ago that he and Goten had attempted to wish their Saiyan grandfather's back to life. The dragon had denied them their wish claiming that though the limit of years since death had been removed, a force more powerful than his own prevented any Saiyan's other than those residing on earth to be wishes back to life.
"So what you're saying is, now that it serves your purpose you've decided to resurrect Saiyan's to add to Earth's forces in hopes of avoiding being annihilated. Am I right?" I asked lazily. I couldn't care less about the decisions of god's. They clearly did only as they pleased with whom and what they pleased and I apparently had a record for displeasing them. The frown that former on the tiny Kai's features confirmed this.
"No Vegeta. Despite my connection to Beerus, I do not agree with his idea for more Saiyan's in this universe. However, we have come to a compromise. If you can prove that a Saiyan born and raised on Planet Vegeta has the same capability for rehab of character as yourself, we will agree to resurrect your planet and people." Though I pride myself on my ability to remain aloof, I cannot help the shock that slides over my features.
They mean...to bring back my race? My planet? My head swims with thoughts and memories. Regaining my composure I narrow my eyes at the god. "And how exactly am I to prove this?" Suspicion evident in my voice. As if content with my discomfort, Shin smiles at me. "Simple. You are to lead one Saiyan down a path of righteousness. You have six months to reform that Saiyan and prove your race worthy of godly intervention."
To say I am surprised is an understatement. But I refuse to provide amusement to this nearly ki-less god. 'Reformed' as they may believe me to be, I still have my pride after all. After a few more moments Supreme Kai shifts his weight, the silence growing uncomfortable on him. "Surely you have always wanted the opportunity to rule as was your birthright. This is your only chance to have the life that was taken from you Prince Vegeta. Will you take it?" The use of my title and obvious play. But a good one, I'll give him that. Reluctantly he offers me his hand and after just a moments pause, I take it.
"Wonderful!" He smiles from ear to ear. "In an hour you will be transported to the check in station. There you will find the Saiyan that was proven to be the most remorseful for his transgressions in life waiting for you. Let's hope his guilt is enough to help spurr change within his heart. Good luck Vegeta, you will surely need it." And before I can snap out a reply, he is gone.
I sigh as I float to the top of the Capsule Corp compound where I was so rudely disturbed. Thoughts flying endlessly through my head. They already have a Saiyan choosen? One who is supposedly remorseful? It is just not the Saiyan way. It has been so long since I have been around a true Saiyan. Will they even respect me as their prince? What if I cannot lead them down a righteous path? Will they find themselves the victims of another swift death? Suddenly I am aware that it has been too long since I was expected to lead anyone.
An hour passes and I find myself suddenly amongst the clouds of the check-in station. The red giant sees me and swallows. Obviously very aware of who I am. Before I can comprehend what is happening a very familiar length of hair and muscle appears before me. I almost cannot believe it. Raditz? He is the remorseful Saiyan? This man never showed an ounce of guilt on any purge we completed. Brutish as he was, I honestly believed they had to have made a mistake. But when I see him look around unsure, my belief falters. Maybe HELL had changed him.
His eyes meet mine and widen in fear. I remember the Vegeta he was so accustomed to and school my features accordingly. As he kneels before me I cannot help but to be grateful it was my comrade that was chosen for a second chance. This soilder was always loyal despite being ordered by a prince so undeserving of his undying loyalty. I made myself a promise then and there that I would prove my own worth as a Prince to do better by this man I had wronged. I suddenly felt he was not the only one who had a lot to prove. I took a deep breath and walked up to other Saiyan and held out my hand. A soft smirk gracing my features. "Welcome back to life, Raditz."
