Chapter 2: The Tunnel

~ Johnny's POV ~

I must have passed out due to shock, because when I woke up, I found myself curled up on a soft mattress. What was a mattress doing in the middle of nowhere? I looked above me to confirm my fears. Unfortunately, I was not dreaming, for looming above me was an endless tunnel of darkness. Panic seized me. I felt my chest construct. How was I going to get back? My parents were most probably worried sick. What would my friends think?

I slapped myself mentally, unwilling to give into hysterics. There was no time to think about them now. They were safe. I wish I could say the same for myself. My life might be hanging on the line. I needed to find ways to survive till I was rescued. Maybe, even find something to help me escape from this prison of darkness.

I looked around and considered my options. A dimly lit tunnel lay ahead of me. I hesitated. In come storied and myths, people meet their end at the end of the tunnel. There was usually someone or something lying in wait for them. It was still my only option. IT was either that or sit here and starve. I steeled my shaking nerves. I squeezed my eyes shut and ran headlong into the tunnel.

~ 3rd Person's POV ~

It was so weird. It was as if her brother ceased to exist. His friends continued to play among themselves. Even his kite was nowhere to be found. It did not matter to her. It would just ease her throbbing conscience. All the better. For her.
