Chapter two
To Trust or Not
AN: Alright loves this is where I take over the story. It will continue quite a bit differently but still be a strong SesshomaruXSakura story. I want there to be a reason the Sesshomaru has attraction to her. So I am trying to get that across this chapter.
I hope that people will like what I do with it. Store concept is credited to Uchihablossom15.
Please Review, let me know if it is what you are looking for!
As always I don't own any of the characters of Naruto or Inuyasha! All of that goes to Masashi Kishimoto-sensei and Rumiko Takahashi-sensei!
Enjoy! =^-^=
Inner Sakura parts are going to be italics
"Well fuck," Sakura cursed as she blacked out.
Sakura opened her eyes slowly. The back of her head was pounding, taking a deep breath she paused for a moment to remember just what she was doing a second ago. Time didn't seem to flow correctly. Sakura felt like her thoughts were sluggish.
"What was I doing?" She thought to herself. She tried to stand but her head wasn't ready for her sudden movement. Sakura barely was able to catch herself as she made contact with the ground once more. Slowly she looked up to find herself at a bottom of a well.
"How did I get here?" She thought to herself again.
"You fell," A whisper seemed to answer her.
The sun shined down the well for a moment before a head appeared from the edge of the well.
"Are you ok?" A masculine voice called over the edge. Sakura stared confused for a moment.
"I don't know," she mumbled to herself still confused.
"You're not," the whisper came back. Sakura looked around for a moment but there was nothing in the well with her.
"Well what kind of answer is that?" The man yelled from the top. There was a loud smack that followed and a feminine voice scolded the man.
"Why am I so confused?" Sakura thought to herself as she brought a hand to her head. There was a large lump but she didn't know where it came from.
"Well that makes sense I guess looks like you hit your head hard," that man's voice echoed right next to her. Sakura yelled in surprise and punched at him but she didn't make contact. She saw bright lights for a second and brought her hands back to her head.
"You aren't looking so hot," he said as he rubbed the back of his head wondering what would be the best thing to do. He shrugged and offered his hand. "Step one let's get you out of this well."
Sakura took his hand and attempted to stand again, but the same force that brought her down the first time pulled her down again.
"Well I guess this just means I'll have to carry you," Inuyasha sighed.
"I'm not some damsel in..." Sakura started to say as Inuyasha scooped her up, bent his knees and leaped out of the well in a span of 2 seconds. He set Sakura down as she tried to stop the spinning in her head. A girl that looked to be a little younger then Sakura knelt beside her.
"I'm Kagome, sorry about Inuyasha. He can be a brute sometimes," the girl said as she extended her hand. Sakura looked at it for a moment debating on her ability to stand. She took Kagome's hand and shook it in greeting but stayed seated while she looked over her body assessing what may be wrong.
"I'm Sakura, thanks for the help. I'm still a little jumbled give me a moment," she brought her hand to her head and began to heal the concussion she finally realized she had. The world cleared drastically. She even remembered why she was in a well in the first place.
"There was a child, it was screaming from in the well. Did either of you find them?" Sakura looked between the two of them. Inuyasha shook his head.
"We came to the well because I had a weird feeling it was important that we did," Kagome shrugged. Inuyasha sighed and took a deep breath in through his nose.
"There haven't been any children in the area for a while," he paused and sniffed the air again. "Shippo was the last one through here by the smell of it."
"You related to the Inuzuka?" She asked a little surprised that he identified the area by smell. He didn't look like any of the Inuzuka she knew.
"I don't know any Inuzuka but I am a dog demon," Inuyasha looked down at her confused. Sakura met his gaze in the same fashion.
"Demon, are you some sort of Jinchuriki? But that isn't possible there was only a few left," Sakura thought back to what she knew. "I don't think there was a dog demon though."
"Jinchuriki? I have never heard of anything like that," Inuyasha shrugged. Sakura sighed and then took in her new surroundings now that she could clearly understand them. They were in a forest. It was nothing like the clearing she had been in previously. The vegetation was green and thriving much like the clearing had been but the large amounts of chakra that had been there before was gone. It was just like any other forest, and the well was just like any other well.
"Where the hell am I?" Sakura asked. This place didn't feel right. There was an energy in the air but it wasn't chakra like she was used to. It was something else.
"The Feudal era of Japan," Kagome offered. She understood the shock of coming into a new time after all.
Sakura stared at her in confusion, "Japan? Where is that? I don't think we're in the land of Fire but I could be wrong."
"Um, well I have never heard of the land of Fire. Japan is an island off the coast of Asia," Kagome offered again. She was trying to think back to the names of other countries in the Feudal era.
"Asia, I still have no idea where that is," Sakura was growing more and more concerned by the minute. She had no idea where she was and that meant no idea how to get home.
There was a rustle from the trees next to them. On instinct and fear really Sakura threw a kunai at the movement.
"AHHH!" A high childish scream came from in the foliage. A small child came out from behind a tree rubbing the top of his head. There was a small bit of hair missing from the top of his head.
"Wa! Kagome!" He cried as he jumped into the girl's arms. Sakura sighed and stared at the child for a moment. He had a red bushy floof on this backend.
"What do you think you are doing?" Inuyasha yelled. Kagome blinked surprised but his outburst.
"I have no idea where I am, who to trust or what the hell else is out there. What do you expect me to do? Let myself be killed?" Sakura glared at him and took a few steps away from the group. They had been helpful for sure but that did not make them an ally.
Sakura turned her attention to another bit of movement in the tree line. This time she took a defensive position instead of throwing sharp objects at unknown elements. She positioned herself in a way that she could see the trio at the well and whatever was coming from the trees. This was not going to be easy.
"What is taking you guys so long?" A calm masculine voice called out.
"Yeah you were supposed to come back so we could follow the leads we got from Myoga," a feminine voice followed.
"Sorry guys we ran into something pretty strange," Kagome called back to the voices making their way through the trees. The pair broke through the tree line and came into view.
"We heard Shippo yell, is everything all right?" the Man spoke again. Sakura took the pair in trying to assess the situation she was in. The man looked like a monk. He wore blue robs and had pray bead on one of his arms. While the woman wore a simple kimono and carried a large weapon on the back. It looked almost as if it were a boomerang. The woman immediately noticed Sakura as well. Her smile fell and she seemed to look Sakura over as well.
"A fighter," Sakura thought to herself.
"Don't forget Inuyasha. He is fast and strong too," the voice inside her reminded. It had been some time since she had heard it but she knew it was always there. The whispers earlier made sense now.
"I won't," Sakura answered herself. Moving ever so slightly to keep Inuyasha in her peripheral vision.
It was at that point Sakura notice the cat that walked beside them. It was small and had two swishing tails but it was the chakra that Sakura recognized first. This creature had chakra, while the monk and woman fighter did not. She looked over to Kagome and Inuyasha. It was the same there, Kagome did not have chakra but Inuyasha did, even the trembling child in Kagome's arms had chakra.
"How is this possible?" Sakura whispered. Everything had chakra! From the smallest child to the oldest crone. Every living creature has chakra. How were these people alive without it?
The monk finally took notice of her and started walking over. "Why hello, I do not believe we have met," the monk spoke as he reached for her hands. Sakura was so confused by this place, how all of this was possible, she did the only thing she knew. She defended herself.
Taking the monks hand she pulled him into her and held him pinned to her chest and a kunai at his throat. The monk struggled for a moment but Sakura applied pressure into a couple of pressure points in his hand and he stopped moving. The small cat beside the woman burst into flames and grew to the size of a horse. The woman took a fighting stance and grabbed her weapon on her back, and Inuyasha glared at Sakura unsure of what they should do.
"Enough! Tell me where the hell I am and who the hell you are?!" Sakura yelled and pushed the kunai a little harder on the monk's throat. A small trickle of blood dripped down.
"I really wish I knew what she was talking about," the monk grumbled not wanting to move too much. Everyone was tense and the seconds ticked by. Kagome slowly moved forward a little, not able to set in front of Inuyasha though, he wouldn't let her.
"I told you," Kagome said calmly. "You are in Feudal era Japan. We are a group of people just trying to make the world a better place I guess would be the best way to describe us." Sakura glared at the girl for a moment
"She doesn't have a reason to lie to me. She seems a little innocent to be in a place like this," Sakura thought to herself.
"Maybe she is like us, Lost in this strange place," her voice inside pondered.
"That could be," She reasoned.
"Maybe you should tell us who you are!" Inuyasha growled and stepped in front of Kagome. Sakura glared at Inuyasha his chakra rose slightly as he moved closer.
"That doesn't make any sense," Sakura growled and rose her chakra ever so slightly. Inuyasha noticed his immediately and rushed at the pair. Sakura surprised by his action and tossed the monk out of the way as a large sword crashed into her kunai. She barely blocked the blade but she stood her ground.
"It is really time for YOU to talk. Did Naraku send you? You don't smell like him but neither did Kikyo that day," Inuyasha growled in her face. Sakura pushed more chakra into her arms and pushed the large blade away. Inuyasha growled and came back at her. She blocked the blade again.
"I don't know who Naraku is, but I will not back down. Why is it that you have chakra but your friends do not? What have you done to them?" Sakura pushed back for answers standing toe to toe with the blade and dog before her.
"Chakra? All I smell is demon on you! How is it you were human and now demon?" Inuyasha pushed harder with the blade fighting to get the upper hand.
"Demon my ass!" Sakura jumped back and began flying through hand signs.
"Katon: Gokakyu no Jutsu!" Sakura yelled and blew a giant fire ball at the group before her. Sakura felt the chakra flare on the other side of her fireball causing her to pause for a moment.
"INUYASHA DON'T!" She heard the female fighter yell. There was a shift in the air that Sakura didn't like.
"WIND SCAR!" Inuyasha yelled and the wind along with her fire ball changed directions. Sakura stared in horror but quickly recovered and thought on her feet. She channeled chakra into her fists and punch the ground. The earth flew up in chunks dispersing the giant fireball she created but there was more power behind that then she thought. The rocks stopped the fire but not what came after it. Sakura watched as the world slowed around her.
The chunks of ground she had use for protection sliced apart. She felt this intense pain slice through her right shoulder and left leg. She heard screaming as the world tilted and the ground crashed into the side of her face. It took a moment to understand the screaming was her own.
"Inuyasha what have you done!?" The female fighter yelled and ran to Sakura's side.
"She is the enemy Sango. What did you want me to do?" Inuyasha brushed off Sango's anger. Sakura felt the woman turn her over and gasp. Sakura felt the blood flowing freely from her shoulder. Well she felt the blood but not her shoulder. It was the same for her leg.
"Kaeade we need to get her to Kaeade!" Sango panicked. Kagome walked up beside Sango.
"Even in my era I don't think we could do anything for her," Kagome choked out. It sounded liked she was starting to tear up.
"We have to do something," Sango sobbed.
"Why do you care so much Sango?" Inuyasha grumbled.
"Because she is a human! She is a demon slayer!" Sango screamed at him tears flowing down her face.
"Demon slayer?" Sakura thought to herself as her vision faded.
"That is what she said," her inner voice commented.
"I never have slain a demon," Sakura thought back slowly.
"I can't remember doing that," her inner voice assisted. Blackness took over Sakura's vision. Nothing left to do be die.
"Really you are gonna just die?" Her inner voice growled.
"That is what we are doing isn't it?" Sakura answered back.
"Like hell!" The inner voice screamed and Sakura felt fire take over her body.
"You will not die lying in your own pool of blood! You are a medical ninja! You have saved people worse off than this! Do something!"
The fire raged spreading from her chest into her shoulder. It was painful but felt right. It was like welding the pieces back together. The screaming came back. Sakura ignored it. The fire continued, down her leg to her toes and back up. The feeling she lost in her leg came back with a vengeance and the screaming doubled. The fire finally reached back up into her chest and began to fade. Along with the fading fire, the screams also faded.
"That sucked," Sakura panted in her mind.
"Of course it did but I knew we could do it," her inner voice panted back.
"I think I am going to rest now."
"Good idea." Darkness came back but it wasn't the same this was peaceful and well deserved rest.
Sango held the dying girl in her arms sobbing. Inuyasha stared at her shocked.
"What the hell do you mean she is a human? She has the smell of demon all over her."
"but not the presents!" Sango yelled back. Miroku moved forward.
"She is right Inuyasha. She feels completely human."
"How?" Inuyasha growled. If she was human what had he just done.
"It was the yang chakra she was using," Sango sighed not really wanting to explain in this second. Sakura was starting to get cold. It was death creeping in. For a moment, then out of nowhere Sakura's eye flew open and she started screaming. Sango pulled back completely shocked. The girl in her arms began to get warmer and warmer until she was too hot to touch.
"What the hell?!" The group stared at the girl screaming and staring at the sky with nothing in her eyes. It was when her shoulder wound started closing that Sango backed away.
"That is not possible"
Sakura's shoulder glowed slightly with a green light. She continued to scream throughout the process. The light seems to move down and along her body. It would pause at any scratch or wound Sakura had as it traveled around. It finally made it to her leg. The wind scar has nearly severed her leg off but as the light reaches that severe grizzly wound it glowed brighter. Strands of this green light stretched out from her hip and grabbed the nearly detached thigh pulling it back to her body and sealing the wound like it had never happened.
Sakura stopped screaming and her body shook once. After that the light disappeared and she laid there motionless.
"What just happened?" Kagome asked a little shook by the events.
"I have no idea but with the smell of blood and all that noise we should leave," Inuyasha said sternly.
"We are taking her with us," Sango said firmly and lifted Sakura's body slowly. Miroku helped her lift Sakura off the ground and on top of Kirara. The demon cat grumbled a little bit but let them lay Sakura on her back. Sango jumped on Kirara and looked back at the group.
"I'm taking her to Kaeade." Kirara took off into the air leave the group to move out on their own.
"I still don't like this," Inuyasha grumbled.
"I have no idea what happened but it feels right," Kagome shrugged and walked away still carrying Shippo in her arms.
"I guess we will have to trust in Sango," Miroku sighed and rubbed his neck. He did have questions for this girl himself. Like why did she toss him out of the way of the Tessaiga and not used him as a shield.
The group made their way back to the village but failed to notice the pair of dark eyes on the other side of the well. Eyes that belonged to one Sesshomaru.
AN: OK that was totally not where I was going to go but I like it and we will see what happens next I guess.
