Chapter Two

Exclusive For The Exceptionally Good

.

.

The written test is easy for Shiori.

She know that Izuku and Katsuki have passed with amazing scores. Her childhood friends are brilliant in their own ways, after all. Now that the written tests are finished and some of the examinees are sent home, there are only left less than half of their starting number. It is expected, but seeing the crushed expressions and the tears are nerve-wracking for her.

But the real problem isn't the written test, but the practical test.

The practical tests are rumoured to be terrifying tests that are designed to be near impossible to pass. They said the tests are changed every year, so no one can cheat.

This year, the test is against robots.

Hopeful students are to collect points by defeating the robots. There are 4 kinds of robots, each have points from zero to four. They have to defeat the robots in order to collect points. There are 7 faux cities, and each have roughly 400 candidates placed in it. Each year, Yuuei only accepted 40 students for the Hero Course, so there are at least 360 people she need to defeat.

No pressure...

"Heh." Katsuki sneered, "it's going to be easy. I'll crush all those extras."

"K-kacchan..." Izuku said exasperatedly, hands waving in the air awkwardly.

"Katsuki, don't get too smug," she yawns, "or you might get defeated by those 'extras'."

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" He shouted, temper exploding easily as always. Then he glare at Izuku, "What are you still here for?! Fuck off already, Deku!"

Shiori stomps her explosive friend's foot mercilessly and waves lazily to Izuku's retreating form. "Go now so you won't be late Izuku. See you later~"

Katsuki shoves her foot off and swears and she gives him her most innocent smile.

"Hey, Katsuki... Wanna make a bet?"

"Do you reckon any of them would figure out the secret test?"

While the hopeful students are out in the faux cities, the teachers converges in the monitor room, watching the many screens with keen eyes. Some teachers were sent out to chaperone, and thus were talking with the other teachers from a small mic attached to an ear.

Blood King grins. "I want them in my class, whoever it is."

"Ah, that's right." The feminine voice of Midnight sounded over the speaker. Said Hero was currently chaperoning Ground E, F, and G. "This year is yours and Shota's turns."

Present Mic let out a laugh. "Yeaaahh! I'm looking forward for this year's batch of Shota's class. He's been stuck on the first year turn since three years ago."

"Shota is attentive and selective to the young generation. I trust him when he said they're not ready." Nezu, the principal, said with his usual calm demeanor. Then he shifted his eyes to the silent figure on the shadows, his calm smile had the figure tensing up.

"But let's try harder not to expel the whole class, ne, Shota."

The other teachers paled at the sight. Their cutesy, kind principal can turn into a scary sight any second. They mentally applaud Aizawa Shota for only slightly leaning back and managing to nod stiffly.

Principal Nezu is scary. Was the collective thoughts of the Pro Heroes.

"Anyway," Nezu said, his deceiving kind smile back, and turn his attention back towards the screens. The big clock on the wall showing the few minutes left on the test. "Everyone, turn your attention to the Grounds, and look closely. Is there some with more potential than others?"

The room is silence for a while.

"This test isn't rational enough." Shota said in a matter-of-fact tone. "Prowess in battles and fights are certainly important, but sharp minds and logical thinking are just as important. Not all Heroes have to have quirks suited for battles. In these cases, the others who doesn't will be out moved by those who does — even if they're more suited for Hero Course than them."

"You are right," Nezu answered, "but in Hero life, prowess is needed everytime. Some villains aren't smart enough to really use strategies or game plans and only sheer brute strength. You know this. Which of the candidates make you said all that?"

Aizawa switches the main screen to Ground F, where it shows a purple-haired examinee controling others to help him destroy the robots. It's a slow progress, but it works. The screen shows his points so far: 25.

"Examinee number 4219, Shinsou Hitoshi. His quirk is brainwashing just by people answering him. He applies to Hero Course, but it seems he knows he most likely won't pass, because he applies to General Course as well. His quirk, if used well, can easily be one of the most effective rescue quirks."

"He will be given a chance to move to Hero Course, if he manage to prove himself." Nezu said calmly.

"WOOOOOAAAAAAA~" The sudden yell have all the other Heroes covering their ears. Present Mic is oblivious to the ringing he causes. "Look at that kid from Ground A. He's an unstoppable monster! C-R-AY-ZYYY!"

The main screen is once again switches. On the giant screen is a boy with spiky ash-blond hair, moving and flying around with explosion on his palms. Even a second standing still seems to be a waste for him, and he pivots his way, taking the robots before others have the chance to. It isn't an unheroic act, so this doesn't count as cheating. Already, his points are 58 and steadily rising.

"What a pain in the ass," Blood King remarked, "Bad luck to the other examinees in that Ground."

"He's clever, to the point of cunning." Ectoplasm noted. "He takes chances and makes openings if there aren't. There's no hesitation in his steps."

"His quick thinking help, as well as his instinct and ability to improvise on the act." Sniper added.

"He is undoubtedly going to pass. Oh, I'm looking forward to see what kind of Hero he will become!"

"Look more closer!" Present Mic suggested cheerfully as he hummed a random tune.

Pro Hero Thirteen tilt his head. "Is he... observing others?"

"No." The sharp breath Shota sucks have the others looks at him with sharp eyes. Meanwhile, Present Mic only smiles knowingly and continues his humming.

"He's watching out for someone to help." Shota said with a sharp glint in his eyes. "This examinee... He might've found out the secret test already."

All is silent, but no one can denies the theory Shota has offered as they watches the kid moves. The way his eyes shifts to the other examinees and move to help the helpless and endangered is an answer already.

"Brilliant." Remarks Nezu, whose eyes sparkles a bit at the prospect of someone figuring out his little test. "Examinee number 2233, Bakugo Katsuki. A dedicated young man. Quirk: Explosion. He's recorded as hotheaded and has a terrible temper, but intelligent and quick on his feet. Ranked 1 in school."

"He's ambitious." Midnight smiles approvingly from across the speaker.

"Look at this," Sniper nod to the main screen that has switched into Ground E. A girl is shown, staring head on to a three-pointer robot. She stand still, watching with no fear as a pincer is approaching quickly towards her. The Pro Heroes watches on with disconcert and anxious.

Unexpectedly, the examinee opens her mouth and start singing.

It's an unknown song, but everyone can clearly hear the meanings inside the lyrics. It's as if the girl is edging the robot to stop, to injures itself and not others. And the robot does exactly like that. White hair flies around as she grab the opportunity and gives a flying kick to the twitching machine. It sways and falls, unmoving. Her points are now 50.

The Pro Heroes feels a little amazed at the show. It's a rare quirk, and an amazing one at that. It's simplistic and practical. There's a very wide range where her quirk can be useful at.

"She's not done." Midnight notes with delight.

The 14-year-old girl continues on. She approaches a boy with bruised ankle, cowering on a nearby building. The robot would've hit him if she hadn't done it first, no doubt. The girl kneels on the boy's side and starts to carefully checking the ankle.

And then, she sings.

This time, the song doesn't pump their adrenaline. Instead, it heals. The tune, the calm, the soothing way she sings, it all helps. And the watchers watches with amazement as the ankle heals and returns as good as new.

Wide range, indeed.

"Examinee number 2232, Akatsuki Shiori. Quirk: Life Melody. She's known as a lazy person that isn't lazy at all when motivated. She's a little master on MMA and her skills are admitted by Japan's government. A childhood friend of Bakugo Katsuki and examinee number 2234, Midoriya Izuku." Nezu explained.

"I want her." Blood King immediately said.

Shota lifts an eyebrow. "If the Bakugo kid is with me, then she needs to be in my class too. He's too reckless and explosive for his own good."

"Are the three of them good?" Ectoplasm asked in a thoughtful muse.

"Examinee 2234, Ground B." Nezu said. The screen shows a boy with curly green hair running in panic. His points shows the reason: zero.

"Aah..."

"There's only three minutes left." Thirteen worried.

Nezu hmm-ed. "It's time for the zero pointer." And he click a big button in front of him. Giant robots appears on each of the Ground, startling and scaring the candidates.

"Now... what will they do under fear and pressure? Will any prevail against the zero pointer? HeheheheheHAHAHAHAHAH!" Nezu shakes in his chair as he let out the maniacal laughter. All the teachers shifts and collectively ignores it.

On Ground A, Bakugo Katsuki has immediately explode the zero pointer once seeing others run and hide. He decided it could boost up his points from the secret test, if not then at least everyone would know who's going to be no. 1.

Pip. Bakugo Katsuki: 89 points.

On Ground B, in a surprising turn on event, the panicky boy — Midoriya Izuku, has jump to the sky and punches the giant robot in order to save a girl who got stuck under a rubble. He falls down with bruised legs and hand, and is saved by the girl he was saving.

Pip. Midoriya Izuku: 60 points.

On Ground C and F, all the examiness have ran to a safe zone and some are helping each others. A tactical retreat — a decision Heroes have to make in order for everyone to get out there the safest way.

On Ground D and G, some people have work together to defeat the zero pointer. The others are backing away.

Pip. Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu: 59 points.

Pip. Shiozaki Ibara: 68 points.

Pip. Awase Yosetsu: 56 points.

On Ground E, everyone is running to the safe zone. Akatsuki Shiori stays behind, treating others who can't move due to their injuries, while two people helps guarding her. They directs others to the safe zone and helps guarding Shiori in order to evacuate those unable to move.

Pip. Kirishima Eijiro: 74 points.

Pip. Kaminari Denki: 51 points.

Pip. Akatsuki Shiori: 77 points.

"TIME'S... UP!!!"
