The Beginning of Everything

Undiscovered Civilization Now Found? Could it be the Fabled Atlantis?

Several weeks ago, the US Naval Force discovered a before undiscovered island civilization in their routine route on the Pacific. The discovery was made when the USS Blue Ridge nearly collided with the newly found land mass that had not been there the weeks previous.

Upon further investigation the island several key discoveries were made. The most pressing being the remains of an, until now, unknown civilization that had been completely preserved. It is thought that due to some unknown natural phenomena the remains were preserved in ice until very recently. Amongst the remains found were dozens, if not more, human remains, as well as the tools they used in their daily lives.

The head investigator, General Mark Denwall, had this to say, "It seems that it [the island] had seen some sort of battle scene not long before being frozen. All that we can see, as far as human remains go, are several skeletons scattered everywhere. Amongst all of them are what appear to be fairly advanced metal smithed weapons. However, what is truly fascinating is that there seems to be no animal disturbances of the skeletons one might expect from nature taking its course."

Some anthropologists may speculate that this could be a part of the fabled missing civilization known as Atlantis. These speculations are due to a rare phenomenon known as 'Drifting Island Sensation.' Drifting Island Sensation (DIS)*, is a hypothetical phenomenon that could occur when a mass of rock floats above the ocean surface but is large and stable enough to support life. If speculations are correct this island will be the largest, and only, fully developed floating island in recorded history.

This would explain the vast varieties of culture found on the island.

"There seems to be a bit of all ancient civilizations on this island. From weapons that appear to have Asian origins, to the common clothing material and styles more associated with ancient western and African civilizations." According to highly acclaimed archeologist Daniel Goodman. "These remains appear to have influences from all over the world and are fairly advanced for the time period this is thought to be from. I can't wait to find out what my former colleagues at the Jeffersonian Institute discover."

The remains are currently being held in a secure naval base. However, they are going to soon be transferred to the Jeffersonian Institute in Washington D.C. for further investigation as to the origins of these people and their civilization. Jeffersonian Institute- Department of Forensic Anthropology

The air in the lab was filled with palpable excitement. Today they were to receive the remains gathered on Atlantis. Today, they were going to uncover some of the greatest secrets of history. Jack Hodgins was practically vibrating with excitement.

Hodgins watched the procession of crates upon crates filled with skeletal and material remains being marched into the lab. Each new box that was unloaded keyed the wily scientist until he was nearly giddy with child like glee. When five men in black suits brought in what appeared to be a black metal box, Jack nearly lost his composure. This day just kept getting better and better for the resident self proclaimed, "Bug and Slime Guy," "King of the Lab" and not self proclaimed, but widely accepted, "Paranoid Conspiracy Nut."

So men who looked to be a part of the very secretive part of the government caught his attention and caused his already high heart rate to sky rocket. He decided to "sneakily" follow the gentlemen in a split second decision. Was it a choice really? When the opportunity to uncover a deeper truth, what other choice can a person make? Truly, he was doing the right thing, uncovering mysteries of the deep government.

He quietly, and deliberately, followed the suited gentlemen as they made their way to the office of the head of the department, Saroyan. He did his best to remain undetected, or at the very least act nonchalant in his work place. He failed as the men knocked on the door and had it immediately shut with a loud bang as it closed behind them.

In her office, Dr. Saroyan looked surprised and concerned as one of the men in suits cleared their throats. Clearly in preparation for something that had the utmost priority. The intensity these men exuded had her on edge. They had the looks of people who could make you disappear without a trace and had no hopes of returning from wherever it was they sent you. She had not expected such people in regards to the operations her team was about to take on. Surely it was only a simple analysis of remains despite the excitement of its newness.

Both parties eyed each other for a long moment. Seizing the other up, trying to interpret the others intentions and trustworthiness.

"Can I help you gentlemen?" Cam decided to break the tension. She wanted to know why they were here and just what exactly her team was about to be caught up in.

"Dr. Saroyan, the information we are about to release to you is top secret. Understand that should any of the information disclosed be leaked, not only will you be held responsible but you can consider your career, along with those of your colleagues over. Do you understand?" The man's voice was monotone but very threatening.

The air in the office had thickened and Cam was finding it slightly harder to breathe. She let none of her anxiety that was budding show as she kept her face blank as she stared the man who spoke down. Her voice steady as she replied, "Of course gentlemen. I run a tight ship here. I can assure that there will be nothing leaked from my team."

The man stared a moment longer before nodding as if he had found what he had been looking for. "On the island there was something of interest found by one of the back up crews sent to investigate."

"Yes, the missing civilization. It's fairly interesting but I don't see why-"

"No, something else was found in addition to the missing civilization. Something we have yet to fully understand. In this box we have what we believe to be a fully intact corpse."

"I don't understand. Is that not part of what we are set to look after?" Cam's voice remained steady but she could not help some of the curiosity that leaked into it.

"Normally, yes, this would not be a top security concern. However, the ice surrounding the body has been giving off strange readings. All attempts to x-ray the ice has proved fruitless and inconclusive which should not be the case. We have concluded that to get any definitive results the ice surrounding the body must be melted and an autopsy preformed. Your findings on what the possible anomalies are could lead to this being transferred to another department altogether."

"And you think I am qualified for such a task?"

"Yes, you and your team are in a unique position for this particular job and should this turn up to be a false flag then there is nothing out of the ordinary for your team, already tasked with making inquires of the DIS remains, to make one more discovery. Do you understand your position?"

"Yes." Cam's voice was clipped. She didn't like being strong armed into this but there wasn't much of a choice.

"Good. You will report any unusual findings to me or my team." With that he handed her a business card. It had no name, or any identifying feature beyond a telephone number with an area code she didn't recognize.

"Understood. When do we get started?"

"Now." And with that the five men left the metal box they had been carrying and left, nearly trampling Hodgins as he scrambled to get out of their way.

Jack had been waiting outside of Cam's office, straining his ears to possibly discover what they had been discussing. What he had been able to hear had his blue eyes sparkling and his light brown curls shaking with excitement. He couldn't believe what he had heard. A real life government conspiracy unraveling right in front of him. He couldn't wait for the autopsy. Cam just had to let him help. She just had to!
