Read on.

"Am I ever going to see you again?"

"You can't."

Suddenly, there's a blip coming from the TARDIS. The Doctor turns to look at something that Rose can't see.

"What was that, Doctor?"

He stares at his screen for a monent. The power has been boosted exponentially. He turns to Rose with what could pass for a smile, considering the situation. Then without warning, is face lights up as he goes into action.

"Hold on! Just a second!"

He runs off to the nearest coral strut and chips a piece off with his sonic. He goes back to where Rose can see him and frantically types something in on his display. Rose has no idea what's going on.

"Doctor, what are you doing?"

"I have an idea. You see, the TARDISes were never made. they were grown."

He looks up at her, Tears beginning to well up in his eyes, but still having a small glimmer of hope for her.

"I'm giving you a piece of the TARDIS, Rose. You can grow your own. You won't have me, but at least you can travel. If it's the last thing I can do for you, I'll do it."

"How? How will I know what to do with it?"

"Just trust me, alright? When the time comes, you'll know."

Just then, he activated his sonic screwdriver, and the piece of the tardis vanished in his hand. It appeared right in front of Rose. She picks it up and stands to look at him once again.

She instinctively goes out to touch him. When she does, she is surprised that she can feel his suit underneath her hand. She reaches out and hugs him. He's baffled that he can feel her too, and returns the hug.

"Thank you, Doctor."

"You're always welcome, Rose."

She looks at him once again. "How long have we got?" ahe asks him. "About a minute." Tears make their way down her face, more than before.

She works up the courage to speak again.

It's what he's known for almost two years, and has never said to her.

"I- ...I love you."

A few stray tears make their way down his face as well.

"Quite right too. And I suppose, if it's my last chance to say it,"

He hears sparks flying behind him as the connection is boosted one last time. A few seconds more. That was enough motivation for him. Just enough to work up the courage to say it:

"Rose Tyler...

I love you too."

Just before he fades out of existence.
