Chapter 2
"I heard that she came to see you last week. How'd that go?" Jane Rizzoli asked Faith. Before Faith was chosen, Jane was the only one there for her. When Faith was willing to be helped, Jane was there. Things might have been different if Faith had just swallowed her pride and tough girl act, and let Jane take care of her.
"We didn't fight, if that's what you mean." Faith half answered.
"It's not and you know it." Rizzoli countered.
"She wanted to know what went wrong with us, I told her. She didn't like my answer and quickly changed the subject to Finch. I've owned all my faults, mistakes, and bad decisions made in hurt and anger." Faith answered fully and honestly.
"You still love her. That's why you're here. Why you're still here." Jane observed.
"It's not bad here. 3 squares a day, a bed, and a roof over my head. Yes, but she doesn't know that, that's the reason why." Faith told her mentor.
"A year max." Jane stated.
"Is that what Angela wants?" Faith asked with a smirk.
"If it were up to her, you'd be out as fast as possible. You do know it'll only take two phone calls." Jane told Faith her mother's point of view, and informed the girl how flimsy the case against her was. It hurt Jane that the girl she saw as a daughter wouldn't let her help more.
"So why a year?" Lehane asked curiously.
"It gives you and Buffy a chance to make things right, if that's what she wants. A chance for her to get to know you, what you've been through. For her to truly understand just how significant you being chosen was, is." Jane explained her timeline.
"Okay. Send Angela my love, and Jane I love you too Ma. I gotta go." Faith understood and said as visitation time was over.
