A Blackbird's Wings
Chapter 2: How it all began (Part 1)
Hi :)
Yes, I know, this story was long ignored, but I'm sorry, and I'm here again, right? Please don't hate me!
So this Chapter is dedicated to RonanKlaine who translated my story "Skinny Love" to Italian! It pretty much made my year or something.
Thanks to Friedi, my awesome best friend in the entire world! (*Love is in the air*) :D
Enjoy!
Warnings: Swearing and bad language
Hugs,
Josy
My heart is still thumping wildly in my chest when we get home.
The Prince. Oh my God, Blaine! And he was so sweet! How on earth can a person be this adorable?
Dad shoots me a confused look at the happy smile I still got on my face by the time we reach the house.
"Kurt? Shouldn't you be more worried? You know, because of your mother?" My smile falters.
"Yeah, you're right, she'll probably... Good God, I don't even want to know!" Dad's eyes seem das and the thought occurs to me that probably he isn't as happy with her as I thought he was. I sincerely hope this is not my fault. He pats my back and opens the door.
"Hey. It'll be okay, kiddo. I'm with you."
I'm with you. That's something he used to say when I was younger and one of the boys in school said something stupid about dolls being girly things. Somehow this situation seems oddly similar. Dad steps inside and calls:
"Sally? We're home!"
"Hush, Burt! Get inside and listen to the news!" I frown. Well, that's something new. Normally she only talks that way with me, but there really must be something important on the TV when she gets that rude with my Dad. We walk into the living-room where my mother and my sister Celine sit in front of the TV. Like always the beauty of her Wings makes me want to curl up in a little box, be buried into a very deep sea somewhere and never come resurfaced again. (1), but just this time I manage to ignore the creamy glow around her elegant figure and sit down in the back. On the TV a guy in a horrible suit is talking about the Selection for Prince Blaine this year and the only good thing about this sight is a Picture of the royal family in the background. Blaine really does look good in a suit.
"... As you all should know, the Selection is a system to find a future-wife for the crown prince. Therefore ten (2) Girls from the kingdom are chosen by neutral judges who only get name, picture and family background for information. As a next level those girls are taken to the palace to live with the royal family for six months. After this time, the prince chooses a wife out of those fine ladies." I roll my eyes. Wow. What a hell of new information. As though not everyone in this whole damned kingdom knew that already.
"But something about this year is different."
Oh wow. What is it? The Prince is actually nice? Or what is it?
"King Walter Anderson confirmed that, yes, the rumors concerning his son's - Blaine Anderson's - sexual orientation are indeed true."
Wh - huh?
"And the Selection this year is going to be for Boys instead of girls."
What the actual fuck?! What rumors? When did that happen?! When realization finally sinks in, my heart feels like it's overflowing with joy.
Blaine.
Blaine is gay.
My long-term-crush whom I met for the first time yesterday is gay.
I might have an actual... chance.
I might... get out of here.
Suddenly mother is in front of me and I feel her hand slapping my cheek. The stinging pain wipes the silly smile off my face and brings me back to reality.
"What the - mother?" Her yellow wings vibrate in fury behind her when her eyes bore into mine and she shouts:
"You turned him, I knew it, I knew you would ruin this chance for your sister! This is just what I should have expected from the disgusting fag you really are-"
"Sally!" Dad growls "Stop harassing our son!"
"No I won't, don't you get how wrong he is? I don't know what happened to my good genes when it comes to him, he-"
"Mom!" Celine's eyes, that look so much like mine, find Mothers face. "You slapped him! You've never..."
"Sorry, sweetie, there's nothing you need to worry about. You're different; I won't ever slap you, okay?" Mother rushes to kneel in front of her, stroking her shoulder in a calming way.
"I... I know, mom." Celine raises her head and looks at me confused. "Kurt?"
"Y-yes?" Her eyes narrow.
"You don't deserve to be slapped..." She stands up and walks to the door, "But you don't deserve the prince either. Be happy ruining my life, Kurt."
And then she's gone.
I can't even think straight right now. After a second of silence, mother turns back around and says coldly:
"Go. Come on, Go, Kurt. Go live with one of your stupid friends. I don't want people to know what abnormality this family has produced."
"NO! Please, Mom, let me stay, I-"
"Don't 'mom' me, Kurt! Just go."
No. She's serious.
This is it.
This is the end.
"Dad?" Dad's face is wet of tears and he looks like the walking death.
But he doesn't stop her.
He doesn't stop her.
He can't.
I nod and smile a tearful smile in his direction.
"It's ... it's okay, Dad. I'm going."
"N-no, Kurt, don't-"
"Burt, let him go."
And then I go. I pack my things, which is a horrible thing for me, considering the amount of clothes in my closet, walk outside like in a trance and call Santana. She picks up after the first ring.
"Hey, Ladyface. Are you okay? Do I need to cut a bitch?" I smile, despite the circumstances.
Oh Santana. Such a sweet girl, hidden behind Badass-behavior.
"No." I sniffle "But wait - actually you need to. My mother for example."
There's a brief silence.
"Shit, Kurt. Do you need a place to sleep?"
"Would that be okay?"
"I'll come and get you in 10."
Well? This is only part one of this chapter, I didn't have the time to type the whole thing.
(1) Ha! See what I did there? :D
(2) I changed the number and the time, it's better for the story. Hope that's okay.
And, yes, I do know that Santana is kind of out of character here, but I really like this side of her and her relationship with Kurt. In this universe she's Kurt's best friend.
Love and Kisses to you all (I mean it! Imagine me hugging you! :-*),
Josy
