Chapter 2
"Your place or mine, babe? Though, we have more privacy at mine", Mo smirked, dragging her to the leather seat of his 1975 Chevy truck.
"Just take me home. You're drunk.." she said, agitated and climbed onto the seat.
Eric watched Mo get in the truck and drive off with the girl he just met, and couldn't forget. He spent the next hour trying to enjoy the party, and when he failed, he tossed the rest of his beer and left the party with her on his mind.
- A short while later -
"Mo! Stop!" she screamed and pushed him off her. "I can't when you're like this. Just take me home!"
"Get out!" he shouted, and sat upright in the truck.
"What?" she questioned and sat up, straightening out her clothes.
"You heard me! Get out of my truck. Right now!" he yelled and started the truck.
"You're really gonna leave me here? Nice, Mo!" she said sarcastically and opened the door. "Wow, silent treatment..how mature of you" she stated and slammed the door shut. She stepped back and watch him speed off. "Some ego…" she said to herself and looked for a place to sit.
Eric drove with the window down letting the warm Texas air breeze through his silky brown hair. He drove in the night looking off around the quiet darkness of this back road, when the outline of a woman on the side of the road caught his eye. Pulling over, he leaned over and rolled the window down.
"If you want a piece of ass, you can just turn around and go back to the party" she said, leaning against the truck.
"And, if you want to be one with nature tonight, you can stay" he replied and moved away from the window. "The choice is yours, Tami Hayes," he said, putting the truck in gear.
She raised an eyebrow and opened the door. "I've never been much of a nature girl," she said, climbing onto the seat and closing the door.
"You don't know what you've been missin'" he replied and pulled back onto the road.
"Isn't the outdoors more fun for a guy, anyway?" she questioned, looking at him.
"And the right guy makes it just as fun for a girl" he said, glancing over at her.
"Mmm.." she smiled and nodding her head. "I bet you use that line all the time, Eric Taylor" leaning her head against her hand and watching him.
"You like that?" he joked, keeping his eyes on the road.
She looked at him and laughed. "If it helps your ego," she said chuckling.
"My ego is just fine. It's not as inflated as your boyfriends'" glancing over at her.
"You don't even know him." Turning to look out the window.
"Then tell me why he left you on the side of the road at nearly 1 a.m." he said, looking at the back of her head.
She shrugged and turned to face him. "He was drunk. He's such an asshole when he's drunk".
"Leaving his girl on the side of a deserted road..yeah, I would have to agree." Turning back to the road.
"You were on the road. So I guess it wasn't as deserted as you thought." She said smiling.
"That was just luck. Truth is, I like the back way at night. Reminds me of home." He stated, turning onto another back road.
"And where is home, Eric?" leaning her elbow on the windowpane.
"Georgetown" he replied.
"Small town." Softly swiping hair behind her hair.
"You have no idea." He said, glancing over at her.
He's probably wondering why I'm asking all these questions, she said to herself. But as she sat there looking at him, she knew she wanted to know more, know all there was to Eric Taylor. She wasn't sure if it was his looks, his personality, or his genuine down to earth heart, but since he gave her that cup of water, she couldn't shake the thought of him.
