Author: Alright everyone rewriting this story I hope it turns out to have more depth and emotion then the original. I will be keeping to the story line mostly but there will be some changes so those of you who have read The Return will still be surprised...hopefully.
Return
Chapter One
The first thing Danny noticed was the pain.
There didn't seem to be any part of his body that had been sparred. Which is what was expected to happen when someone was squeezed through a crack the size of a toothpick. For a minute he just lay on the ground taking deep breaths as his body worked to heal all his injuries. When the pain had lessened a great amount he sat up hissing slightly before he took a look around him.
He was in a room that much he could tell right off the bat. Brushing aside the strands of hair hanging in his face he was able to get a better look. Cracks slithered up every wall, large piles of rubble were scattered across the floor, and a large whole in the ceiling above him allowed a few strands of light to enter the room.
Wherever he was no else had been here in a long time. Leaning forward he pushed up his body up with a groan somehow getting to his feet. Bracing himself against the wall he began took another look around the room. It was then he noticed the large vault like door that made up one wall. Something about it struck a chord in his memory but he couldn't place it, instead he shuffled towards it each step worse then the last. When he finally reached the door he leaned on it with his shoulder wishing his escape hadn't drained him.
'I have to get out of here, wherever here is.' He thought as he pushed.
When it didn't give the slightest Danny growled in anger. He was about to try his ghost powers on the giant door when it fell out raising a cloud of dust that blinded and chocked him for a good minute. When he could see and breathe Danny walked through the huge hole only a little surprised to find himself in another decaying room.
'Where the heck am I?'
Thankfully this room had a window which he promptly made his way too. He had to stop twice to catch his breath, when he finally reached the window he could only flop down on the floor in front of it with a sigh of relief. Blowing the hair out of his face Danny found his eyes wandering around the room he was in. There were the remains of a bed and dresser, and another door. Other then that however the room was bare of any life or signs of people having ever lived here.
And yet...
'Why does this place feel so familiar?'
Shaking the confusing thoughts out of his head Danny managed to stand back up. As it was he knew his body was around 25% healed, not enough to change to his ghost form but enough to be able to move without cringing at every step. Turning he glanced out the window, his entire body freezing when he saw what lay past the splintered frame. Even though it was barely dawn, even though there was hardly any light, Danny could only stare in shock at what he saw.
Every building in his line of vision was destroyed some were little more then rubble others had chunks missing from them. Fires burned in the distance the smoke hanging over the ruins like a fog. Grabbing the window frame Danny leaned further out his eyes darting from place to place. He couldn't believe it, he wouldn't. This had to be a dream, all of this was a bad dream.
'I'll open my eyes and be at Sam's house with her and Tucker.' Danny thought clamping his eyes shut.
When he opened them however the scene outside the window hadn't changed. Dropping to his knees he tried to hold back the flood of tears that burned the corners of his eyes. He couldn't stop two large tears from running down his cheeks.
"How?" He cried desperately, "How did this happen?!"
Minutes passed before his trembling stopped, kneeling here doing nothing wasn't going to help. Neither was crying. Standing back up Danny wiped the back of his hand over his face smearing two trails of dirt over it. Turning away from the window Danny walked across the room to the other door.
He would find out what happened to his home, and when he found out who was responsible he was going to make them pay.
