Bella POV
When I walked into the living room earlier when Charlie came home I did not expect him to be with a boy around me age. I hope he wasn't going to try and match make again, because for the last time I would tell him that I loved Edward, but I will admit that the boy looked absolutely stunning. Like Edward, the boy, who Charlie brought, looked like a Greek god. Heck, he could have made a vampire run for their money. With his chiseled features, windswept hair, mesmerizing Sea green eyes. To say that I was shocked that this was my cousin Percy shocked me, puberty must have been good for him because I always remembered him as this little fellow.
I kept running through my memories from earlier as I was sitting on my bed, with a pillowed hugged to my chest as I was waiting for my nightly appearance of my Edward. Even though I didn't really know that he was coming to live us for a time, when I first made eye contact with for the first time in about nine years. I could see a haunted, vacant expression in his eyes like he was not completely here. As if he was somewhere else reliving a past memory. It sent chills down my spine as I realized that this was the same look that I saw in the mirror every time when the Cullens had left.
Even after we started to eat dinner I could see that look in his eyes, he was good about covering it up adamantly, but from experience I could see tall tale signs of his depression. I can't believe he beat me in that argument about doing the dishes. Even though the reason I wanted to do them was to waste some time before Edward got here since I already completely my homework with help from Alice, It was nice to engage in playful banter. Since he got here his mood surprising seems to have improved or at least not the forefront of his thoughts.
I remember when Charlie had pulled me aside as Percy was doing the dishes.
Flashback
"Hey Bella," Charlie said softly with concern in his voice, "could I speak to you for a minute?" Curiously, since I had nothing to do, I followed my father to the living room. I stood giving him my attention as he to a seat on his recliner.
"I know it is a little surprising to see him here," Charlie started softly, but before he continued I asked him why.
"Why is he here Dad," I asked.
"Well," he started, "I don't know if you remember your Aunt Sally, but a couple of weeks ago she called me asking for a favor." I could slightly remember her. I all could remember of her was that she had black hair, blue eyes, and smelled like cookies. Letting the thought drift away, I nodded my head signaling for Charlie to continue. "I was a little dazed at first since I haven't talked to her in a while, but she asked if I were willing to look after Percy for a while."
"But why would he want to leave New York," I said remembering were my cousin grew up, but then I remembered the heart broken expression in his eyes.
"I don't really know all the particulars," Charlie said, "but from what I could figure with what Sally told me. I came a conclusion that something with his Father's side of the family went array and in the end his girlfriend was killed."
"He must have had something special with her," I said comparing what I felt when Edward left with what he must be feeling now. "But I must ask, why are you telling this all to me?"
"I'd say so. Percy was friends with her for years, Sally told me, before they got together," Charlie started, "She says that since they met. They practically did everything together and well." At this Charlie fidgeted in his seat. "I agreed to have him come here so he could get away from any bad memories he might have in New York and I was wondering if you could sort of be a friend or family in this case and help him find happiness again. Like how Jake did, when you were going through the same."
I listened with rapt attention, but inside my thoughts were hay wire. 'Why would you offer to bring him here? Granted he wanted to send me to Florida with Mom, but I wouldn't have that connection anymore to Edward. But then again Percy's Girlfriends dead and it's not like she could come back to him now like how Alice came back for me. And I don't believe that I can be exactly like Jake was, but I guess I could try.
Shaking the thoughts out of my head, I looked towards Charlie and told him that I will try and help him.
Flashback End
A tapping on the window tore me away from my memories. I turned me head towards the window and noticed that Edward had arrived. I briskly moved to open the window for him when I noticed this sort of worried and anxious expression on his face. I could tell because of his the tightness of his lips, the constricted look in his eyes which shinned with worry and fear, and also the crease forming on his forehead. As I opened that window, he immediately jumped through and swept me in his arms. My body immediately felt like melting in his arms as I cuddled into his chest.
"That God your alive," Edward breathed into my ear.
"Edward," I said concerned, "what do you mean? I have been perfectly fine since I got home."
"Your future," Edward said, "Alice had a vision in which your future went dark. At first we thought it was those mu-wolves down at La Push, but she said that it seemed different like someone was pushing her visions away instead of blurring them."
I started to reprimand Edward for almost calling Jake and the rest of the Pack mutts, but I was cut off as he started to interrogate me.
"Did something happen since I dropped you off this afternoon?" to which I promptly said no
"Did you see or meet anyone since then?" At that I told him that my cousin on my father's side has come to stay with us.
"I thought your father was an only child," he asked.
"Biologically yes," I said agreeing, "but he has a step sister name Sally. My cousin is named Percy and I think he is about a month older than me." I looked up at him. Edward had a pensive look on his face and a calculating gleam in his eyes.
"Wait," I said," You don't think this is because of him do you?"
"I am not sure," Edward replied, "Is he in this house now."
"Yes, he is downstairs sleeping on the couch," I said yawning. Through the squint of my yawning, I could see Edward look as if he was gazing through the walls at Percy before he turned towards me. Edward's eyes started filling with love which started lulling me to sleep. He carried me over to my bed before laying me down.
"We talk about this tomorrow," Edward said in a soft velvety voice, "But now I believe you need to sleep my love." And with I fell into a blissful sleep.
Percy POV
I felt stiff as I felt a hand on my shoulder shaking me awake. Blearily, I tore open my eyes to catch a glimpse of Bella over top of me.
"Morning," She said, "I made some breakfast this morning for Charlie and I, so I figured you would like some before I go to school this morning." At that I threw my self-off of the couch, which caused me to promptly land on the floor with a thud.
"Hey Bells," the voice of my Uncle sounded through the house, "Are you okay?'
"It wasn't me Charlie," Bella said above me while giving me a hand up. To my right I noticed Charlie walking into the living room in his police uniform and taking his belt off of the coat rake.
"And I thought I was terrible at falling," Bella said as I pulled me self-up.
"Are you ok kid," Charlie said looking towards me. I gave him an affirmative yes saying that I have had worse before he continued. "I left some food for you in the kitchen. I am off to the station, there has been some more disappearances around lately. I might be late, but don't hesitate to call if you need anything." Turning towards Bella he asked if she would be home from the Cullens five.
I made my way to the kitchen for breakfast followed by Bella. I sat at the table with a plate of eggs and sausage with a glass of orange juice and began to eat. 'I hope the Gods will forgive me for not sacrificing to them,' I thought while eating. Bella came in earlier, but she only grabbed an apple and munched on it for breakfast.
"Hey Bella," I said getting her attention, "What did Charlie mean when he said that there are more disappearances lately." From the opposite side of the table, I could see her fidgeting in her seat.
"Right you were asleep," Bella started, "Charlie was watching the news this morning when he told me about them myself. Apparently, people have increasingly been reported missing in Seattle. Ever since the disappearance of a guy named Riley Biers about a year ago."
"That's strange," I said. Inwardly I thought if this was some mass abduction or serial killer, but my demigod self-urged me to believe that it was monster related, but that wouldn't make sense. For one, Monster activity have been relatively low since Gaea's defeat. Also, why would the monsters target regular mortals, since I doubt they were all demigods and why they kill so indiscreetly? We fell into a silence after that as we or well more like I finished my breakfast.
Quickly finishing, I took my plate, fork and glass to the sink so I could wash, but before I could turn on the faucet I heard a knock sound at the door.
I moved to answer the door since Bella was still seated eating her apple.
"No let me get that," Bella said moving up behind me, "You are a guest. Besides, it's probably Edward here to give me a ride to school."
I didn't pay attention to her as my hand closed around the handle. I wasn't really trying to blow her off, but as I was moving towards the doors, my instincts were going berserk. My body felt coiled as when a monster was nearby, but then I remembered that she said this probably is Edward. This was the guy who left her in the woods. The guy Charlie fears is playing with her heart. Why would I think he was a monster?
Clearing me head I opened the door. The guy on the other side of the door screamed monster. You might say I am joking, but if there is anything I have learn since becoming a demigod it is that nothing is perfect and things tend to be too good to be true. The guy or monster in front of me was like the embodiment of perfection. I like females mind you, but something just seemed fake about him.
The guy in front of me was about two inches shorter than me and lanky. He had a head of almost untamable golden hair maybe bronze with chiseled features, but what unnerved me the most were his golden eyes. Once I looked into them, my mind flashed back to when Luke was possessed by Kronos. The golden eyes that haunted my dreams since Luke resurrected him when I was 14 on the quest through the Labyrinth. I also noticed that he was deathly pale like my other cousin Nico, son of Hades, and his father Hades.
Edweirdo, the guy in question, flinched away from my scrutinizing gaze turned into a glare. Those damnable golden eyes appeared to be calculating and had steeled as if he found something that he doesn't like. 'Who is this guy,' I thought, 'we haven't even said a word and he is hostile with me. What is he a mind reader or something?'
Bella, most likely sensing the tension between her boyfriend and I, Stepped alongside me and started introducing us.
"Percy this is my Boyfriend Edward," she introduced turning towards him, "and Edward this is my cousin Percy." He quickly regained composure before I did and stuck out his hand towards me.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," He said. Hoping to plan this right, I clasped m hand in his before giving him a firm shake. I was alarmed by his skin temperature. I tried not to show it, but his hand was deadly cold, colder than even Nico's.
"Hello," I said in a faux jovial tone, "nice to meet cha. The names Percy." Edward flinched again away from my touch, but I could see in his eyes the shock and fear. As to why he revealed those emotions I don't know, but all of this added support to my theory that he was a monster. Either way, I am going to find out more about my cousin's boyfriend.
"Pleasure," He said flatly turning towards of cousin, "if you'll excuse us, Bella I think we need to get to school." Bella quickly fell into his side as they made his way to a silver Volvo. I must say it is a beautiful car, but from what I could gather of this place, how would someone around here be able to afford such a car, let alone a high school student.
I walked back into the kitchen after watching them peel out of the driveway. I became lost in my thoughts as I washed the breakfast dishes. My initial thoughts on meeting Edward, did it have to pertain to the voice I heard last night. It was a little disturbing and made me angry. It could quite possibly be another enemy planning on coming after me and the fact that monsters might be accumulating near where I lived did not help my mood. I was steamed, 'why everyone couldn't just leave me alone. I fought two wars protecting this world. Can the fates not leave me a break?'
Despite the issue I had about Edward, I started to feel a little refreshed about being here. I haven't thought about Ann…' and there goes my mood. I spent about an hour wondering through the house until I decided that I needed to get out. My ADHD is not liking being in this small place. Stepping out on to the lawn I remember Charlie mentioning that there was a beach near here.
'That's what I need,' I thought dismally.
For the next three to four hours, I wondered around focusing on my powers to lead me to the largest source of water around. It was raining most of the day, but fortunately I was able to use my powers to keep me dry as I wondered alongside the road into the La Push. I was surprised by this because literally no body was around, but then again I guess they were in school. Even when I was walking through the reservation it left like nobody was there. At times I felt as if some were watching me, but I dismissed it as I could see anything.
After about ten minutes of walking through the reservation, I came upon what I thought to be the beach. If I were expecting something like sun overhead, warm sand, and waves crashing in to the beach then I would be sorely disappointed. The sky was overcast once the rain ceased, the sand along the shore looked dull as murky water of the ocean waves crashed into the shore, but as long as there was water then I would be happy.
I spent the next couple of hours swimming through the surf. There was not much life under the waters of first beach, but at least there were some. A few fish swam along side of me, pestering me, calling me their lord. Almost all sea creatures and equestrian creatures (horses, zebras, pegasi, ect) refer to me as their lord, but I guess that is a perk or curse sometimes of being a son of Poseidon. After four hours I decided to head back to Charlie's. One of the fish nominated themselves to wish me luck and warned me to be careful. I tried to ask what they meant, but to no avail.
Walking out of the surf, I noticed a kid walking along the beach talking to himself. Since it was getting late out I decided to go up to him and ask if he knew where I could find a phone.
"Excuse me," I stated walking up towards him. The Kid was about six foot even with black hair and tan skin. I deduced that he was one of the natives. He turned towards me. "Hi My name is Percy," I said, "I am sorry for asking, but do you know where I could find a phone to call for a ride home." If I was expecting him to be weary around me and refused to answer then I would be let down.
Apparently, the kids name was Seth and he offered to let me use the land line at his house. After some coxing, I followed him home as he talked me ear off. He probably could literally give Leo a run for his money on how hyperactive he is. The discussion went everywhere from who I was, and where I came from. He was especially excited once he heard that I was Bella's cousin for some reason. He wondered why I was swimming since it was too cold out, which I shrugged off saying that it wasn't that bad. I am glad he never asked or even noticed how I was at all wet from my swim.
I learned that he had a mother named Sue and an older sister named Leah. By that time we had arrived at his house. Frankly no one was home. When I went to ask, Seth brushed it off saying that his mother was meeting with friends tonight and Leah had an appointment to go to. He quickly gave me his phone and I managed to call Charlie to pick me up, but the discerning thing was that as I was calling Charlie and even as I was waiting for him the kid, Seth I believe, started acting weird.
Seth's body tensed suddenly and he tilted his head towards the side as if he were listening to something. His nostrils flared for a moment and his eyes narrowed. He quickly told me that he had to leave and without a word he was out the door. Stunned, that was the emotion I felt as he abruptly left me in his home of all places. I ran his strange actions through my head as I waited for Charlie to arrive, but I made no progress. The last thought that ran through my head as I saw Charlie pull up outside of Seth's house was, 'What's going on here?'
AN: Finished with another one. The ending didn't quite turn out like I had thought, but I digress. I hope you enjoyed it. As always feel free to leave any comments, suggestions, and criticism. Till next time BRMCscout45 signing out_*beep*
