Chapter 2

Third Person POV (After School)

Since the rest of The Gang was going shopping Sarah and Sammi were stuck walking home, which wasn't that bad since it was only 75 degrees out. While they were walking Sarah decided that they might as well talk about what happened with the strange boys. "So… Sammie did you ever see that guy again?"

"Yeah, he's pretty much in all my classes and he stared at me the whole time. He could have been more discreet if you ask me," she replied.

"Maybe he was and you're just really good at observing? We do pretend that we're spies and work on that kind of stuff," and that was very true. Ever since Sarah read a book series, called Gallagher Girls, they would pretend they were spies and work on covert skills; like observation. Add that to them learning karate with Bex and Cammie's help, and you could say they were beginner spies, not nearly as good as Cammie Morgan, but pretty close.

"Hey Sarah, did you ever think that maybe the books were real?" The question was so unexpected it almost made Sarah trip over a crack in the sidewalk, she was very clumsy.

She was quiet for a minute, debating on an answer, when finally she said "Maybe we should wait until we're home to talk about this, just in case your theory is correct." Sammi nodded in response and the two girls continued walking towards Sarah and Bex's house in silence.

Meanwhile with The Gang at Macey's House

"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS YOU BLOODY IDIOTS! THEY COULD HAVE SEEN YOU!" yelled… well I think we can all guess who yelled that. Pacing back and forth in Macey's living room was Bex, while two boys stood against the wall frightened for their life, not that they showed it. "Do you have any idea what could've happened if they saw you? If they recognized you?! Have you forgotten your training and the number one rule of out of sight observing?"

"BEX, calm down," said Cammie, "the boys said the girls didn't even notice they were there. Also in case you have forgotten Alex and Andrew are Grant and Zach's brothers, trained by them. They're the best of the best now stop yelling at them, and besides don't you think the girls would have told us if someone was watching them?" Cammie watched Bex as she took in all the information she just told her, hoping that Bex would realize everything was fine and would think twice about murdering Alex and Andrew.

"I guess you're right" Bex sighed after a long pause. Everyone in the room visibly relaxed, except Liz who was looking through Sarah's computer, because Bex asked her, to see if there was anything spy related. When Bex saw her tense shoulders and pale face she knew she found something. "Liz, what is it?"

Liz hesitated before saying "guys I think we have a problem. Sarah has been reading the Gallagher Girls series."

It became so silent you could hear a pen drop, until Bex asked "How did she… Cammie!"

Cammie dashed to the other side of the room before Bex could tackle her, "Bex wait! We can still fix this."

"Fix this? How?! The books have our freaking names in it! There's no way they'll believe it's a coincidence, there's just no way…" Bex slowly slumped to the floor, the weight of everything crashing onto her shoulders. She had tried so hard to keep Sarah out of the spy world, and Cammie had done everything to shield Sammi from it. How did she find them? Why didn't she tell her? They were supposed to be sisters, unless… "guys do you think – she paused – do you think she knows I'm not her sister?"

The room was quiet for a minute until Liz spoke up "no. She would have said something for sure if she thought that. She might've kept this from you because she thinks it is all a coincidence, and besides as far as she and Sammi knows we don't know a Zach. Nothing in the books makes sense with what she and Sammi know, therefore it isn't rational for them to think the books are real."

The room was quiet again until Bex finally said "you're right, it isn't rational for them to think the books are real… but what if they aren't thinking rationally?" There it was the question that was hanging over their heads. Sammi was known for her daydreaming and if Sarah had shared this with her, well it wouldn't be a surprise if Sammi mentioned that it could be real.

At this point no one knew what to say or do until an unexpected voice broke the silence…

Back at Bex and Sarah's House

"So what do you think, could the books be real?" Sammi asked Sarah.

Sarah thought for a minute before answering, "if they were real how come we're not mentioned? I've been Bex's sister since I was little, heck I've grown up with her! I think I would have noticed if she disappeared to some spy school. Also you're Cammie's sister the books don't mention that Cammie had a sister, and you would have noticed if Cammie left for a whole summer! Lastly, we don't see our parents often, but we have seen them, Cammie's dad supposedly died in the books, so they can't be real, they just can't." Sarah took a breath, whether it was because she had talked for so long, or she was exhausted from trying to make sense of what she just said, is unclear. She was quiet for a moment, until she remembered something, "the tea."

"What?" Sammi asked, "what do you mean 'the tea' ?"

"The tea Sammi, the memory erasing tea. They could have wiped our memories and we would never know! All of this… our whole lives could be a lie… Bex might not be my sister… and Cammie might not be yours…" she trailed off not knowing what else to say. It made sense though, both girls had no memory of being a child. In fact their memories only went as far as 8 years old, which is standard, but they had never seen pictures of their younger selves. Could it be true, they wondered, could they have been living a lie? There was only one way to find out, Sarah thought, blood tests. She grabbed Sammi's computer, because Liz asked if she could upload some software onto hers, and hacked into the CIA blood testing program. Then she grabbed two needles and pricked her and Sammi's fingers, who was reluctant at first but after she handed her a chocolate bar she agreed. After uploading the data she waited for it to analyze it and then it was the moment of truth, she looked at her best friend, who grabbed her hand, and she pressed the show results button.

30 seconds went by…

one minute…

One minute and 30 seconds… then…

"WE'RE SISTERS?" they shouted together. The blood test proved that indeed they both had a sister, but Bex and Cammie weren't their biological sisters. "How… how accurate is this test?" Sammi asked so quietly Sarah almost missed it.

"Well it's the CIA's program so I would say 99.899999%" she answered.

"So basically 100%"

"No I said it's 99.899999%, not 100%, but basically we are sisters. Who saw that coming?" she joked, since she hated high pressured situations.

"I mean it doesn't seem entirely impossible but now the question is why would they lie?"

"The answer should be simple Sammi, they're spies, they lie!"

"Well yeah ok, but that still isn't really an answer. There has to be a reason, they can't just wipe the memories of young children and pretend to be their family members, that's crazy!"

"No Sammi, that's spies."

A.N So… I guess that's a wrap! Now here's a few questions for you:

Why do you think they lied?

Are you enjoying the story?

What do you think Bex is going to do when she finds out they know?
