READ!
Hey guys! I am so sorry for such a long wait. I have been having to deal with a LOT lately, and barely have enough time to update anymore now that I'm going to this tough early college school. Either way, this does NOT mean I am fully back to update this story. This is just a way of saying that I haven't given up on continuing it. It is in no way a top priority right now, but I want you guys to know that I will try my best to finish it one day. Just please be patient! Thanks! :)
Chapter Two:
On the Edge
The thunder once again crashed outside and made the inhabitants of the room scream once more. The rain pounded hard and unrelenting against the window and mixed chaotically with the whispering sounds getting louder and louder.
Everyone was backing away slowly from the front of the room, away from the inky black aura that was creeping closer to them by the second.
"What the heck?! Dudes, what the heck is going on!" America shouted while halfheartedly glaring at the unknown enemy in front of them. Italy had large fat tears running down his cheeks while babbling on and on about how he doesn't want to die and how he has family all over the world.
"Italy, be quiet! Just stay calm!" Germany scolded, almost hiding the terrified nation behind him.
"Stop worrying about my stupid brother! What the fuck do we do?!" Romano cursed loudly while trying to ignore his shaking body.
Spain smiled, but it was obvious it was contorted frighteningly."Don't worry, Roma! We'll get out of this!"
"You aren't helping!" The violent twin shouted.
At that, everyone started shouting at each other as they all continued backing away towards the large window.
England only stared on at the ever-closing in aura and silently cursed. His legs were shaking, but he refused to hide away like the others.
"England! Get over here dude!" America called out.
England looked back at him, his expression dark,"Shut up America!" His eyes darted around the room quickly, trying to find a way out. His eyes then caught the window and he frowned.
"Hey! Listen! I'm the hero, alright!" America shouted as he marched forward, a large scowl on his face. He planted his feet down as he put his hands to his hips, his palms slightly brushing against the pistols hidden in his belt.
"Hey you! I don't know who or what you are, but I'm not afraid! So taste bullet!" He swiftly pulled out the pistols and started shooting randomly ahead of him.
"America! What the bloody hell are you doing?!" England screeched. He ran over to the blonde and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Aaaaahhhhh!" He screamed."I'm saving your butt dude!" He just stood there and let his weapons do the work. However, the aura was unaffected as it kept getting closer, almost reaching their feet. England saw this and suddenly wrenched America back, earning a surprised grunt as he stopped shooting.
"You aren't doing anything, you moron! We need to get out of here now!" England said as he dragged America with him to the back window. He stared out of it but could only see the bright flashing lightning that would temporarily illuminate the dark room.
"England? What are you thinking?" France asked seriously for once. The brit turned back and looked at the group of terrified nations.
"This is going to sound crazy, but I need you to jump." He said. Everyone stared.
"WHAT?!" They all shouted in unison.
"No! I'm too young to die! Please don't make me jump off the big scary building!" Italy cried out and faced the threatening aura while he pulled out a white flag and waved it in front of him."Please don't kill me! I'm innocent!"
"Italy!" Germany pulled him back and glared."We need to stay calm- I doubt whoever or whatever this is will like to be your friend."
"Why not?" He asked, tears in his eyes."I can make good pasta and I can sing!"
Japan only sighed at his friend and nodded to Germany who was trying to calm him down.
"England-San, do you really think it would be safer to jump than to stay here?" He asked. England saw the worry in his friend's eyes and he felt his heart quicken. What if he was wrong…?
"Yes, I am absolutely sure. We have to go now!"
"Hey, don't forget about the awesome Prussia! What of my awesome skills do you need?" Prussia stepped forward and winked.
"Please, we all know that Angleterre here needs my help!" France stepped up as well.
"Wait! Let me help! I would never want anything to happen to my tomate!" Spain smiled at them as he also stepped up to the group.
"I'm not your tomate you stupid bastard!" Romano shouted somewhere in the crowd of nations.
"Wait, we can't all help!" Hungary said as she sighed.
"Exactly! I'm the hero, so you should all step back and let me save all of you once again!" America posed and flashed his famous smile.
"Again? Oh, no you didn't!" China seethed and looked about ready to punch the obnoxious nation.
"Hey, I am Anglettere's most trusted friend!" France stepped in," though of course we could be more." He waggled his eyebrows, successfully making Romano gag and America make a disgusted look.
"As if! England, are you and France a thing?!"
"W-what?!" England shouted.
"I mean, I should have noticed the signs! All of the 'accidental' claims of almost rape! The constant bickering that obviously only couples do! The constant sexual innuendos put throughout the show! I should have known! England, just so you know, I am completely cool with it if you're gay." America gave him a thumbs up with a completely serious face."No homo though."
"Will you all just shut up! America, I am not at all interested in that git! And second of all, we need to go now!"
England moved with lightning speed as he ran to the window, grabbed a stray chair near him, and threw it to the glass. At first, nothing. He hit it again, some more cracks. He growled out in frustration as he practically threw it at the foggy rain-stained glass. It finally broke.
He stepped back and motioned for everyone to move forward.
"All of you must jump when I say for you to!" He shouted over the increasingly loud whispers and the heavy rain. Everyone looked fearfully at the broken glass and refused to move.
"We can't do this!" Canada 'yelled.'
"We can't do this!" Austria shouted.
Suddenly, Russia stepped forward and smiled at England,"whenever you say."
England shivered before nodding.
"On my count."
"One." England reached into his pocket and fingered his pen.
"Two," he bit his lip as he watched Russia get closer to the edge. He raised his hand more.
"Reveal," he muttered.
"Three!" He shouted. Russia quickly jumped from the jagged edges, giving a whoop of joy.
"Go, go, go!" England practically screamed.
America was after Russia and shouted,"follow me! I'm the hero!" One after the other, the nations began jumping from the high up floor.
England rolled his eyes and held his pen up to his face with a concentrated look."In our time of need, help us now, come hither to aid, and let me call. Save them now from their fall!" England chanted out, his pen now transformed into what appeared to be a wand. His eyes were sharp as he silently prayed to the gods for the spell to work as he watched all the nations jump into the storm outside.
"Hey you bastard! Let me go!" Romano screeched as Spain tried to drag him to the broken window.
"Veneziano! Don't fucking die or chicken out or anything you stupido!" He shouted as Spain struggled to make sure Romano himself didn't chicken out. With those words, both jumped, or rather fell, off the edge.
"I'm going. Make sure you jump too Italy!" Germany called to him and jumped. Italy ran over to the edge, gripping the sharp edges of the broken window. He saw nothing.
"Germany!" He shouted,"Romano!"
Nothing. Italy shot his head towards England, tears again rolling down his cheeks. The lightning flashed again, illuminating his face as the wind whipped at his hair.
"M-Mr. England?" He asked. England sighed as he ran to him. The blonde looked back and his breath caught in his throat. The shadows were about to descend upon them. England looked at the other country and sighed knowing he wouldn't jump on his own.
"I-It's okay, Italy. Just look at me, ok? We're going to do this together." He said calmly and grabbed his hands. He turned them so that England was the one facing Italy with his back to the outside.
"But I'm scared!" He cried.
"Don't be. I'm here, remember?" He smiled reassuringly, though his emerald eyes constantly darted behind Italy, who was facing him. The brit shifted his arms so he was gripping the brunette's sleeves.
"It'll be fun! I'll count again, alright?" Italy breathed and nodded slowly.
"It's easy. One," He stepped back more, slowly.
"Two," He gripped his shoulders tightly, and so did Italy. England's feet touched the edge of the wall/window.
"Wait! How do you know we won't die?!" Italy asked, almost stopping. England smiled. He saw the shadows about to touch Italy's feet. Just a mere inch or two away.
"Because," he said,"we're nations. Three!" He shouted. He relaxed and let himself fall, Italy almost screaming as he pulled his body closer to the other as they both fell.
England shut his eyes tightly as he tried to block out the wind ripping itself passed him. He tried to ignore the pounding rain as it forced it's way all over his body, soaking him completely. He tried to ignore Italy's painful screaming of terror.
He couldn't.
He felt weightless, almost. He was falling, and it felt as if every second was a year of it's own. His mind briefly wondered to the other countries. He had some explaining to do.
His hands loosened as he felt almost at peace. After he got past all of the terrifying sounds, it seemed to be kind of relaxing. Like he was floating.
However, Italy clenching his body closer brought him back to reality. The smaller nation had buried his face into his shirt, no longer making a sound. England barely managed to grab his head and looked at him. His eyes were shut as usual, and he seemed unaware of anything, even his breathing was even.
Of course, England thought irritated. Wanker passed out from fear.
Those were his last thoughts before his collided with the ground.
Or so he thought.
Instead, they hit a near-soft, but bouncy material. England breathed loudly, almost gasping as he groaned in pain.
He opened his eyes slowly as he took in his surroundings. His hand slightly grazed whatever he was on, and chuckled.
Rubber. Of course he would conjure up a huge bounce house-style 'safety net.' He smiled a bit before chuckling a bit. It got a bit louder, and a bit louder, until he was full out laughing heavily. Despite the current miserable state he was in, he was still laughing hysterically.
I did it! I actually bloody survived! He thought in glee.
After he calmed down, he then remembered the unconscious body lying on him.
He shoved Italy off and breathed deeply before staggering up. He grabbed Italy and began shaking him. The boy didn't move for a few moments before slowly, slowly, opening his eyes. His eyes were barely opened as he looked around for a moment before settling on England.
"M-Mr. England? Are we dead?" He muttered curiously.
"What? No way dude! You guys are alive and well!" America suddenly appeared near them, along with the other nations.
"Veneziano!" Romano shouted as he ran to them. He jumped onto the bouncy material and ran to his brother, tripping a few times.
"Romano!" Italy cried out joyfully, his usual carefree smile plastered on his face as he sat up. He jumped to his feet and hugged his brother.
"H-hey! Let go you bastard! I-I'm just glad you didn't splat all over the ground or anything!" Romano shouted, a blush clear on his face.
England turned to the others, breathing a sigh of relief at seeing them all alive. Then he reminded himself of the situation at hand. He frowned.
"Alright, listen up. We don't have much more time. We need to go, and we need to go now," he told them all. He, along with the Italy brother's jumped to the ground.
"Where do we go? How do you even know what we should do?" Germany asked coolly as he barely registered Italy's warm hug of greeting. England look him right in the eyes.
"I know what's going on here. Trust me, and you'll live. I'll explain everything you need to know later," he said.
"Wait, dude, you know what that creepy stuff was?" America asked.
"I told you I'll explain later! We still have to run!" England balled his fists tightly as he started jogging and motioned for the other nations to follow.
"Follow me, you wankers!"
How was that? I hope you guys liked this chapter! Also, if anyone has any info on Scotland, I would love to know! I really don't want to mess him up. And so, our characters are on the run! R&R and thanks! :)
