"Good morning class. Today I would like you all to welcome our new student, Mrs. Kisara Jacobs. She just arrived, so treat her well."

Eyes peered up at their new companion as their teacher introduced her to them. They observed her, took in her looks, and how she reacted in front of the entire class. Some wanted to see if she was worth their time, while others looked to find something different about her, which wasn't hard at all. Her hair, her skin, nothing about her was normal. Some began to snicker, while others looked in interest. All in all, without it having to be said, they all agreed that she was… weird.

Well only most thought that. There were a few pairs of eyes that couldn't care less about how she looked. To them she was quite familiar actually, but only because they themselves weren't exactly normal. Or they've seen things normal kids shouldn't have. They began to speak amongst one another about how they recognized the girl, but they wouldn't say anything about that because they didn't want to scare her.

But there was one pair of eyes that neither took in her differences nor her familiarity. No, these eyes were filled with fascination, and a just a sliver of joy, something rarely seen in these eyes. They stared at the girl, but they only stared at one part of her. Blue met blue as the eyes met the girls, and recognition flared in her bright blue orbs. Nothing was said from the girl's mouth, but an understanding came off from her, and the same happened with those hard eyes.

"Ok Miss Jacobs, you can go sit next to the empty seat next to Mr. Kaiba," said the teacher, pointing to the man whose name was Seto Kaiba. He did this because he thought the girl didn't know who he was talking about, but she knew very well who Mr. Kaiba was.

With a small nod and a hush, "Alright," Kisara made her way towards the seat. All around her she could hear whispers, no doubt about her. They were filled with scorn, and jealously from the girls who would give anything to sit next to Seto Kaiba. She could also hear the words of seclusion that she had heard all her life. "She's so strange," she heard, and "Why does she look so different from us?"

When she reached her seat, she inched slowly down, and set her things down next to her. Then without a second thought, she glanced over at the man sitting next to her, and she found that he too was looking at her. Kisara could see the light in his eyes, yet she could also see a guilt, and behind all that an anger in his eyes.

The moment he had seen her walk in that door, Kaiba knew that it was her. It was the girl that he came to care for in the orphanage so long ago. It had been years since he had seen her, but he could never forget her. Well, actually he did. It wasn't until he was thrown into the ancient past that he remembered she existed. For that he felt so guilty about forgetting her, but he wouldn't do it again because she was here now. Yet when you had to go through what he had to go through, it's hard to remember the good things that existed in your life before.

As she sat there and stared into his eyes, he could see the happiness and joy in his eyes. By the look in her eyes, he knew that she had never once forgotten about him. Behind her happiness, he could see a deep sadness, and anger. So badly he wanted to know what happened to her why he wasn't there for her, but now was not the time. He would have to ask her later, and hopefully she would tell him. He knows her, he knows that she is secretive and it might be a task getting what he wants to know out of her.

The eye contact between these two did not go unnoticed by all. Purple orbs glinted with curiosity, while eyes of dark brown looked upon the two with childish intent. Both Yugi and Joey wanted to know what kind of history the two shared, because it was obvious by the way they looked at each other that they were acquainted already.

For the rest of the class, Kisara and Kaiba simply exchanged glances between one another constantly. It was like the two had to keep looking at each other to see if the other was really there, or if they were just a figment of their own imaginations. Kaiba wasn't the only one looking at the new girl though. Some of the other girls in the class glanced back at her to see if she was doing anything funny, or weird that they could exploit. Luckily for Kisara, they never caught her looking at Kaiba.

Finally it reached the time where the students were let off to go and get lunch. All the students excitedly ran out of the room, happy to finally be free from a boring lecture. But not all the students when rushing out of the room. No, six students stayed while all the others left.

As soon as the final student had left the room, Kisara and Kaiba turned and looked each other straight in the face. They both opened their mouths to say something to one another, but they were interrupted when the other four students still in the room came up to them. One put his arm around Kaiba's shoulder, causing him to frown immediately and garner a completely unamused look. He didn't even bother to look at who it was, nor did he care to look straight at him when he addressed him.

"Wheeler, I would appreciate it if you didn't touch me," growled Kaiba as he grabbed Joey's wrist with two fingers and lifted his arm off of him.

"Aw come on Kaiba, you're no fun," teased the messy haired blond, causing Kisara to giggle. He looked up at her and smiled before saying, "Hey there Kisara, it's nice to meet you. The names Joey Wheeler."

"It's nice to meet you Joey," replied Kisara in her quiet voice. She glanced around at the other people standing around Kaiba, and asked, "And who might you all be?"

"My name is Tristan Taylor," replied the tall brown haired boy standing behind Joey. His smile was sweet, and his eyes were kind. Both were things foreign to Kisara, and they surprised her. What was more surprising, was that all four of them bore the same kind eyes and sweet smiles.

"I'm Tea Gardener," replied the only girl in the group. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

"And I'm Yugi Muto," answered the short purple eyed boy. Kisara tried not to laugh at how ridiculous the boy's hair looked. She liked it, but it was just so crazy, and she hadn't seen anything like it before.

"I'm happy to meet all of you," replied Kisara. She smiled and said, "I take it that you are all friends of Seto's right?"

"I wouldn't call them friends," answered Kaiba for them. "But they are at least somewhat tolerable now."

"That's right," said Yugi. "And by the way you are addressing him, it's safe to say that you two know each other as well."

"We-well yes we do," stuttered Kisara, her face turning a light pink. "We've known each other for quite some time, but we haven't seen each other in ages."

"Oh where did you guys meet one another?" asked Joey. "And how come you haven't seen each other in forever?"

"Do you have to be so nosy Wheeler?" asked Kaiba in an annoyed voice.

"Yes, yes I do," replied Joey matter-of-factly. "It's not every day you learn that the great Seto Kaiba had a friend once. Plus if we don't ask her, we know you won't say a thing."

"It's alright Seto," said Kisara. "I don't mind answering their questions, but that's only if you don't mind either."

Kaiba scoffed and crossed his arms before replying. "I don't care."

"Alright," said Kisara as she giggled. She was the only one to notice the slight pink on Kaiba's cheek. She knew that he would be embarrassed about his childhood, because she could tell that he was very different from his younger self. Even so, he was still Seto, and she had no problem with him having grown up over time. Change happens to everyone, even him.

"We grew up together," she said. "We were in the same orphanage as kids, and we became friends there. When he got adopted I didn't see him again, that is until now."

"So you guys have known each other for a really long time," said Tristan.

"Yes we have," said Kaiba. "And it's been a while since we've last seen each other, so if you idiots would be so kind as to let us talk alone for a little bit that would be great."

"Fine, fine," said Joey. "You don't have to get so fussy. Come on guys, I'm hungry."

"Classic Joey," sighed Yugi. He looked at Kisara and said, "It would be great if we can talk again later when you aren't occupied."

"Yes I would love that," replied Kisara. "It would be nice."

"See ya later!" said Joey as he waved good-bye and ran out of the room with Tristan. Yugi and Tea just looked amused as they followed the two boys at a slower pace.

When they had finally all left the room, Kisara saw that Kaiba had an annoyed look on his face, but she could see amusement flicker in his eyes as well.

"So they are the ones that you replaced me with hmm?" teased Kisara. "I wouldn't have thought you to be the kind of guy who gets along with people who have such high energy."

"I'm not," replied Kaiba. "But they are very persistent, and they wouldn't leave me alone. It's still new to me, but I'm getting used to them unfortunately."

"They seem very nice," said Kisara. "But enough about that, I want to know how you have been all these years."

"I don't think I can tell you everything in the little time we have," answered Kaiba. "But I can tell you the major things. Now where to start…." So she sat there and listened to him tell the tale of his life. She was told about becoming the President of his company, and how he met Yugi and the others. He told her that he would tell her more about the adventures he had to suffer through with Yugi, because the stories were long and numerous. Kaiba also told her how Mokuba was doing, and that she could come and see him whenever she liked. He said that Mokuba missed her as well, and he would really love to see her. As he talked, Kisara could tell that he was hiding something about himself. He wasn't telling her the whole truth about something, but she was ok with that. It was obvious to her that there was something about his past that he was either ashamed of telling or didn't like recalling.

"That's really all the important things that happened," finished Kaiba. "Everything else is just boring business stuff that you will probably find uninteresting."

"Well you certainly had a lot to do while I was gone," replied Kisara. "I wish I could have been here to experience it all with you."

"Some of it wasn't very fun to go through," replied Seto. He was trying to hide it, but Kisara could sense the sadness in his voice. "So what have you gone through while I wasn't around to protect you?"

"Oh nothing as exciting as what you did," replied Kisara. "I stayed with the orphanage until a little after I turned fourteen. My new father adopted me and I've been living with him ever since. I've move around schools a lot, so I haven't really been able to make any friends. See, my life hasn't been interesting at all."

"Your life has been so simple compared to mine," said Kaiba. "There has always been some part of me that wished that I could have lived a simple life like yours."

"Yeah…. A life like mine," said Kisara absent mindedly. Kaiba was about to question her about it, but the bell that signaled the end of the lunch period rang and interrupted him.

"Looks like our time alone is up," sighed Kisara. "It was so quick."

"You act like this is the only time we'll be able to talk," replied Kaiba. "I told you that Mokuba will want to see you, so why don't you come over to my place today. That way we can catch up more, and we won't be bother by any idiots."

"I guess you're right," laughed Kisara. "Alright it's a plan then. I'll meet you after school today. Deal."

Kaiba gave her one of his rare small smiles and said, "Deal."

A/N: Sorry for the super long wait, but I've finally gotten done with a chapter of this story! I'm so proud of myself. And sorry for such a short chapter. I usually write longer ones, but there was just so little to put in this one. I promise the next one will be longer. Also, I know that Kaiba might be a bit OOC in this, but this is like my headcannon stuff. It might be just be, but I think that after all the stuff that Kaiba and the others had been though, he would eventually get used to them being around him, including Joey. He obviously still calls them names and stuff, but he's a bit more good natured about it and not as serious. That's just me. If you don't agree with it, well you won't have a fun time reading this :P. Anywaaaay, thanks for reading and have a good one friends :D.
