Deidara was in a lot of trouble.
It was partially because he'd done this without telling Konan and Pein.
But it was also partially because he'd brought in a liability.
Sasori.
Sasori, master of a hundred puppets.
Sasori, most dangerous nukenin to ever come out of Suna.
Sasori, of the Red Sand.
That Sasori.
Was a liability.
Right.
"I didn't know he'd come back without his memories, un!" Deidara insisted. He was already angry enough at himself and at 'older' Sasori for missing this when he'd developed the technique originally. He didn't need to be berated by Konan and Pein as well.
"The fact that you did this without alerting us in the first place is enough of a problem." Konan chided. "You are aware of Pein's Rinnegan, and it could have at least help observe what happened, and how, enough to be able to do damage control now instead of dealing with the fallout without any information beyond the original scroll."
"Hidan seems to know something, un." Deidara muttered. "Kakuzu said he said some suspicious stuff before locking himself up in his room while I was trying to bring Danna back."
"We'll be speaking to him soon." Konan assured him. "For now, though, it's your job to deal with Sasori. Tell him everything he needs to know to get involved properly again. He won't be going on field missions, but his knowledge and expertise will be good to have back."
"Right, un." Deidara muttered, and glanced at Pein, then away. The man had been silent during the whole exchange, for some unknown reason. "Anything else?"
"Not at the moment." Konan said, though she glanced at Pein afterwards for confirmation.
"…Take care of him, Deidara. You've been granted a chance that not many have. Use it." With that, Pein turned and left, and Konan followed him.
Deidara dropped where he stood, put his face in his hands and groaning.
