"SAM! SAM! SAM!" Dean banged on the door of the bathroom as his brother took a shower. The hell?!,Sam wondered as he hurried out, shampoo lathered up his hair and a towel round his waist, half expecting to see his brother choking on his own blood. Or pie. Eh.
"WHAT? What?" he asked Dean, who now looked like a five year old candy stealing, juice spilling, hamburger chugging punk of a kid, who'd just got caught. Completely poker faced now, he asked Sam "Uhh…is my magazine in there?"
Which, of course evoked the famous Sam Winchester bitch-face.
"I really…" Dean said as Sam shut the door on his face,"need it". Dean sighed. If only there was pay-per-view. Damn this motel. No sooner had he cursed this town, his life and every possible thing than his phone beeped-a text. He was half hoping it was Cas. The dude had been AWOL for a while now. Though, his curiosity quickly turned to concern when he saw who it was:
Dean, it's Krissy. Garth is missing. Actually, for ten days..Look, just call me when you get this, okay? Hurry up.
"Damn it, Garth" Dean muttered as he re read the message. "Wait, why?" enquired Sam who'd just now got out of the shower. "Also…this, " he added throwing the magazine to Dean "is too graphic, even for you."
"Shut up! Listen, it's Krissy. She says Garth's in trouble. He's missing. We have to go…now!"
"Wait, hold up. How are we to believe anything Krissy's got to say after the whole prank call incident?! We drove eight hours, Dean! Also, doesn't Garth go there like every odd week, or so? I'm sure he's fine…probably drunk somewhere."
"What exactly are you saying, Sam?" Dean asked standing up now.
"Look all I'm saying is, we shouldn't rush to save the Brady bunch just yet, without some actual proof this time. She was pretty convincing about that ghoul-sorry that "supposed" ghoul-in her house, remember?" Sam huffed.
"Sam! C'mon, you can't be serious! They apologised for that! And I know Garth is...well…Garth, but ten days is a lot, even for him. I mean for all we know- "
Dean was interrupted by his phone. Krissy. "Only one way to find out."He shrugged as he hit speaker. Sam rolled his eyes.
"Did you get my text?! I told you to call me back ASAP, didn't I?",a panicked Krissy asked.
"And a very good morning to you as well, Krissy!" Dean replied sarcastically.
"Look I swear this isn't a prank. Garth was supposed to pick us on the 13th… Friday for a fishing trip. It's the 23rd! And he would've informed in case of cancellation or an emergency. Look I'm not lying!"
"Alright Krissy, I believe you, " Dean was serious now. "Can you tell me where he was before your trip?"
"Yeah. He was hunting a Tulpa in a town 20 miles down from here. It's called Bills County. In fact Aiden tracked Garth's phone down to a motel called "The Velvet Inn". It's in the heart of the town. We're heading down there in an hour. How soon can you-"
"Woah, woah, woah. You three clowns are going to stay put and- "
"In your dreams, Chuckles! Garth's our friend. Look the only reason I'm even calling you is because we've run outta ammo! We'll find what took him, trust me."
"No Krissy! Besides, what and when did you hunt last?" Dean asked her trying to think of more means of dissuading her. Meanwhile, Sam was already on his laptop tracing Garth's phone, missing persons' files and police records.
"A…ghost..okay? Last month."
"You know what my superpower is, other than my obvious awesomeness? I detect lies."
"Uh! You know what? Screw you! Aiden and Josephine were right. I shouldn't have called. Thanks for nothing, jackass!"
Krissy hung up and her words made Dean sigh.
"Wow! That girl just gets sassier and sassier every single time!" Sam complained.
"She's a kid. They are kids. It's allowed" Dean replied. A response which caused Sam to raise his eyebrows, but decided to let it go anyway.
"Anyway, Bills County. Seven hour drive. Phone traced back to "THE VELET INN". Shady name, much? No mysterious disappearances, clean police reports as far back till the last 4 months. So, I guess, no nothing."
Dean's head fell in his hands. "Well, let's check it out anyway! I know it's recovery time for you Sammy, but please…something doesn't smell right about this. They'll get themselves killed."
Sam sighed. Summer's over. School time.
