"This is boring," Gemma complains. The book in front of her looks thick enough to bludgeon someone to death with.
"It's useful," John says, not looking up from his own book.
"How will this ever be useful?" Gemma says.
This time, John looks up. "Gemma," he says. "That book contains the fundamentals of ceremonial magick. That is the foundation upon which much was built. If you're serious, you'll read it, or there will come a time when you'll wish you had."
Gemma goes back to her book.
"But it is bloody boring," John concedes.
