Silver had fallen to the ground, slightly dizzy from his ascent through the portal.

Silver shook his head in order to regain some composure, as well as some focus.

"Okay, time travel, so far, not fun." Silver thought.

As Silver stood up and brushed the dirt off of his legs, he saw a city in the distance.

"Home sweet home… sort of." Silver said.

Silver made his way to the city and as he looked around, he marveled at the simplicity of each structure and building.

"We've come a long way, but this has a certain charm to it too." Silver thought.

To Silver's dismay, he also noticed the looks he was receiving from the public.

"What's up with them?" Silver wondered.

As if to answer his question, the authorities had arrived and began to approach him, with caution.

"Well, it looks like they've decided to roll out the welcome wagon for me, how sweet." Silver joked.

"Halt!" One of them shouted.

"Intruder, identify yourself immediately." He demanded.

"These must be the royal guards." Silver thought.

"I remember Mephiles mentioning them when he told me about how the city used to be run." Silver thought.

As Silver analyzed his situation, he saw that more guards had arrived and were surrounding him from each direction.

Silver smirked and raised his hand, giving off a glowing blue aura, which in turn, caused them to flinch.

"Sorry, but I've got someone I need to find, see you later." Silver exclaimed.

With that, Silver flew upwards at an incredible speed, startling everyone around him who was witnessing the moment.

Silver took off, flying away, aimlessly for the time being.

Meanwhile.

"Do you think he will succeed?" Mephiles asked.

"I know he will." The other hedgehog exclaimed.

"You have a lot of faith in him, Shadow." Mephiles said.

Removing his hood, Shadow stood there, glaring at Mephiles.

"Yes, and I know at the same time that you doubt him." Shadow said.

"I have good reason, after all he does take after you." Mephiles said.

Shadow grumbled at the remark aimed at his expense.

"He also takes after his mother." Shadow pointed out.

"Is that why you chose not to go back?" Mephiles questioned him.

Shadow didn't say a word, simply sighing and looking away.

"It's been a long time and yet you still cannot look upon anything that has to do with her without grieving." Mephiles said.

"She was everything to me." Shadow said, his voice sounding more hollow than before.

"I know." Mephiles said.

"Still, Silver remains unaware of your identity." Mephiles said.

Shadow looked at him, with both certainty and sadness within the expression shown in his eyes.

"He will learn, when the time is right." Shadow said.
