Chapter 2: Arrancar?

"Please Captain." Diaya put her hands together and bowed her head, "I promise you won't regret it."

"I don't know what your relationship with this man is, Aohoshi, but I don't sense much spiritual potential from him," Hitsugaya replied regretfully, "I can't let him enter the academy without that."

"I know Captain, "She begged, "But I know him. He's strong, he can hold his own, I know he can."

Her captain looked over the young third seat. He knew what it was like leaving someone in rukon but it wasn't like they could just take anyone and make them a shinigami.

The captain took a deep breath.

"Do you really think he can do this? Not just because he is your friend?" He said seriously.

"I do sir," She shot back right away, "I do."

"Right." Hitsugaya went into his desk and pulled out a piece of paper, on that paper he wrote a recommendation for one Yurano Dekishi to enter the shinigami academy.

"Thank you sir," Diaya took it with a wide smile.

"By the way," He stopped her just as she was about to bold out to give the recommendation in, "Why you are so determined on this? What if it turns out he doesn't have what it takes?"

Diaya stopped a moment, the bouncy excitement dropping, "Lets just say I owe him."

And with that she left.

Yurano Dekishi did have what it took to be a shinigami. To rise all the way to fourth seat but all he did it on was his sword skills. It seemed to most that Yurano really didn't have the spiritual potential to be a shinigami, having never obtained shikai or never hearing his zanpaktou's voice even once.

Yurano blocked his attacker . The arrancar moved just fast enough to keep pressure on the fourth seat. Yurano finally countered and batted the sword away, just enough time to see his opponent's face.

It looked just like him. The arrancar had the same black hair and blue eyes, only his skin was a pale white, matching his robes. The zanpaktou looked similar too...but a mask covered half of the right side of his face.

What is he...? Yurano kept blocking; he was on the defensive and the arrancar knew it. Yurano flash-stepped behind...to find the arrancar on the opposite side of the courtyard.

"Who are you, arrancar?" Yurano demanded.

The arrancar spoke, "I am White."

"And piss off!" Diaya flash stepped behind ready to punch the guy in the back on the head.

The arrancar used Sonido, a Hollow's form of flash-step, to dodge. He appeared before the two shinigami, drawing out his zanpakuto.

"Drown in perception, Kuroi Kiri." The Arrancar slid off his white mask. The very top of his robes turned black; then, as if the black color was a liquid, the color ran down the arrancar's clothes, covering him in black.

They's seen the reports on Arrancar's, they knew this was a resurreccion and Diaya did not stop to look over it for too long. The whole thing set off warning bells. She couldn't sense this arrancar properly and it's resurreccion was odd. She read that when an arrancar used it's resurreccion it looked like more the hollow it once once but this guy still didn't look much like a hollow. If fact, she hated to think it but it looked like a shinigami, and she didn't like that. Nor did she like that it looked like Yurano but she was used to hitting him and gathered up energy in her fist with her zanpactou and flash stepped. The arrancar, White was standing there utterly unfazed and as Diaya's fist came from his face it was caught.

How...? She stared at him, I gathered enough energy into that punch to throw off a captain...how could he have just stopped it? It felt like i hit a wall. Like he canceled it out or overpowered it. How the hell could he do that?! I can't even sense the guy.

It wasn't hard to tell Diaya's panic.

Yurano had to act. he launched at the arrancar, but White grabbed and threw Yurano into the wall. White walked toward him.

Yurano could barely see, his vision blurred in and out of what remained. Then he heard something, but it seemed like just him being half dead. The voice called out something, but he couldn't grasp the words. White was closing in.

Then he heard it, barely.

Yurano...

He saw in his blurring vision what was obviously Diaya trying to stop White from getting any closer only to be harshly knocked aside.

Yurano! Wake up!

The voice came louder, sounding irritated. Yurano felt like he knew it, but from where?

Yurano! You're both going to die if you don't get up!

Yurano mind started to work; White's sword was raised...

"Yurannoo!" Diaya was struggling to get up, she wouldn't get there in time.

Dammit, Yurano! Just wake up!

It wasn't just a voice...Yurano saw the sword come down...its...!

A blast of spiritual pressure and a blade met White's sword.

Yurano kicked back the surprised White.

White staggered, then stood.

Suddenly, a huge heat wave took over the courtyard. Yurano felt like someone had lit a fire next to him. The air was dry...very dry.

Then Yurano felt the spiritual pressure. He was shaken from it He had felt Yamamoto fighting but this...this pressure, this unbearable heat. This was more that he ever imagined.

"Yamamoto...is he using..?"

White glanced toward the direction of the pressure. He raised his sword, a black liquid running off of it, turning to steam around him. He started to disappear…

What? Yurano stood up and staggered, then regained his balance and charged.

Yurano saw White disappear suddenly. Sonido, dammit! He looked around, bracing for an attack..but it never came.

What happened instead was just more heat. The air around them in a circle ignited. Diaya at his back using her power to fan the flames.

Yurano looked back at the spot where White had been. A small puddle of black liquid was quickly thinning. Yurano walked over and touched the liquid. Suddenly, he saw black steam coming the puddle. "Diaya, the steam…"

"What steam?" She replied keeping up the fire shield trying to see what he was.

Yurano watched the liquid on his finger evaporate...as the steam dissapeared. He dropped his hand in the pool. "This liquid makes an invisible steam unless touched...that will lead us to him, come on!"

Diaya bit her lip a moment but had to quickly push the feelings aside,

"Right," She said hoping Yurano hadn't caught her hesitation and, although struggling to control the fire with one hand she dipped her other hand in the liquid and looked up, "Right." She said again but suddenly a lot more confident.

A large smile took over her features as she spun and with her the fire spun. All the fire that had made up their shield came together and shot at the mound of steam she could now see. It was hard to see but the fire tried to take form, opening what looked like jaws, like a mock version of her captain's shikai.

The fire impacted in the sky, and a trail of smoke plummeted to the ground with a crash. Yurano ran over to where the smoke stopped. White staggered out of a crater, bruised. Then he opened a garganta.

"Next time, shinigami."

The Arrancar walked into the garganta, and Yurano flash-stepped towards it, but White kicked him away as it closed.

Yurano picked himself up and ran towards the senkaimon, then stopped. He looked at his sword...then closed his eyes. Who are you?

You already know me kid, you're just hesitant. That'll kill you. Stop trying to find out who I am like I'm a new person. You heard me before, now call me out.

Yurano's eyes opened as he held his sword. "Drown out reality, Kiri."

His sword started to materialize the same liquid as White's. Yurano dropped it. "What?"

He heard footsteps coming down the corner. He picked his sword up, and his body became coated in the evaporating liquid. The steam had already came off him.

As Quincys ran by, Yurano ran to his destination. There was only was one person who could help him…

Diaya cursed, she looked away for one damn second to repel a Qunicy to turn and and have Yurano gone.

"Yurano!" She called out looking round but then a small sparkle caught her eye, "It can't be…"

She walked over slowly to what was the same liquid the arrancar had used but she had just seen the arrancar leave. Her eyes narrowing she dipped her hand in and saw the steam.

"Where the hell do you think your going, Yurano?!"

Yurano stopped, then turned around. "Diaya!? But how..?"

"Lucky guess," She hissed, flash stepping in his path, "Were you just about to abandon the battlefield?"

"He has the same zanpakuto...I need to know who he is."

"4 captains have had their bankai stolen and the head captain has gone bankai himself," She snapped at him, "Can't it wait?"

"You saw what he could do!" Yurano countered, "If he is that powerful, I need to kill him! He attacked us, after all!"

"No!" She barked, "It needs to be reported after the battle. the gotei 13 will deal with it. It's not just your fight! You'll get hurt if you go it alone!"

"Not if i strike first." Yurano's voice was cold. "I need to know just what he is…and why he's the same as me."

"I want to know too but please," She calmed down, worry replacing the anger, "Just wait until the end of the battle. I can't let you do this alone. I want to be there to protect you."

Yurano looked down, hiding his face from her. "Diaya...please…"

"We'll go together. After the battle." She told him

Yurano stood still for a moment. "I'm sorry.." Then he flashed-stepped away, moving like a blur.

Diaya followed after him for a while but eventually she had to let him go. Watching his back and gritting her teeth.
"Bastard!" She yelled at him before turned away and taking her anger out on the Quincy.

Authors' notes:

We do not own Bleach.

second chapter! much better than the first in my opinion and Diaya is a bad ass ^^

Naibu: Yeah, it was good to make it. Ah Yurano, the most irresponsible 4th seat lol. And I agree with Frost on Diaya :)

This has been really fun to write and thanks to anyone to reads :)
