Chapter 2:
It was still hard Kagome to believe that it just yesterday that she and Inuyasha were married. Now here they were on their honeymoon, lying side to side as man and wife. But as Inuyasha laid fast asleep, Kagome was wide awake. It wasn't because she was not tired. The trip and the love making should had exhausted her and have her sleeping like a baby. In fact, Kagome would love nothing more than to slip into a peaceful slumber. But it was near impossible for Kagome to sleep. She looked to her left, towards the clock. It was one in the morning. Why couldn't she go to sleep? It must had something to do with Sesshoumaru showing up at the wedding. That weighted heavily on her mind.
She first met Sesshoumaru at the restaurant where Inuyasha took her for their first date. Sesshoumaru was also there with his former girlfriend, Kagura. During the meal, Kagura walked out on him, most likely he said something to offend her. Kagome always knew that Sesshoumaru hated Inuyasha. After all, Inuyasha was only his half-brother. His father, wealthy business man, had left Sesshoumaru and his mother when he was 8. To marry Inuyasha's mother who was pregnant with him at the time. Matters only got worse between the two brothers once their father died. In his will, their father has left half of his wealth to both of his family. Sesshōmaru was infuriated to learn that he would have to share the inheritance, which he considered his birth rite, with someone like Inuyasha. Now it seem that Sesshoumaru was upset with his brother once again. But why would Sesshōmaru be jealous of Inuyasha. He lived a luxurious life compared to Inuyasha's humble existence. Was it because Inuyasha was able to marry the woman he loved?
"Who cares?" Kagome said to herself as she closed her eyes, forcing herself into sleep.

She was surround by darkness. Where was she? A figure suddenly hovered over her. "Inuyasha." She called out. But than two hands wrapped around her throat. Sesshōmaru appeared before her. A sinister look on his face sent shivers down her spine. "Let go of me!" she cried out. But his grip only tightened. She couldn't breathe.
Inuyasha! She cried out, hoping he would rescue her. But he was nowhere to be seen.
Inuyasha! Why wasn't he protecting her? Sesshōmaru's grip grew stronger.
INUYASHA!
Kagome shot up from the bed as she gasped for air. Beads of sweat glistened on her forehead.
"Kagome" Inuyasha muttered as he began to stir. Knowing that her expression would worry her husband, she quickly got out of bed and retreated to the bathroom.
Come on Kagome get it together. She thought as she splashed her face with the cold water. It was nothing more than a bad dream! Nothing to get upset about. But then why was her heart still racing so fast, it felt as if it could jump out of her chest.
"What's the matter Kagome?" Kagome turned to see Inuyasha standing behind her. She must have woken him.
"Oh, nothing's wrong. You can go back to bed, dear." Kagome said as she forced a smile.
"Are you sure Kagome?" Inuyasha came closer and stared into her eyes, "no, something is wrong. I can tell."
"It's nothing, really. Just go back to bed." Inuyasha placed his hand on her cheek as he looked at her with those beautiful golden eyes.
"Kagome, we're married now. If there something bothering you, you can tell me." Kagome knew that she couldn't lie to him when he looked at her, so she looked away.
"I'm just tried." She said as reassuring as she could. "It's just been a stressful week for me, with the wedding and all." Inuyasha could tell that Kagome was lying; something was weighing heavily on Kagome's mind. But Kagome was so independent, she would never burden others with her own problems.
"Fine then." He leaned over and planted a kiss on Kagome's lips. "Just know that I love you and I'm here for you if you need me." He said as he went back to bed.
Kagome sighed deeply as she sat on the toilet. She has had plenty of nightmares before, but never had one felt so eerily realistic. Was this dream some sort of warning? Could Sesshōmaru truly be capable of such a violent act as portrayed in her dream?
"Of course he wouldn't." she said to herself. Though Sesshōmaru was an ass, he took great pride in himself for being a sophisticated aristocrat. But hatred did have a way of transforming even the most refined gentleman into a raging beast. She had seen it happen many times when the two brothers would get into a heated argument. But that was usually against Inuyasha. And although they have given each other a fair share cold glances from time to time, she had done nothing to gain his anger. Kagome decided that this was nothing more than a stress induced nightmare and should not be given another thought. With her mind finally at ease, she stood and walked back into the bedroom. She could see that Inuyasha was once again sleeping soundly. Kagome glanced at the clock, seeing that it was almost five in the morning.
Had I been really awake for that long? She needed to get some sleep. In four hours, they were to have breakfast and head to the beach for their snorkeling trip. And Inuyasha really wanted to take a picture of her with a sea turtle. But as Kagome closed her eyes, sleep couldn't come to her. Why couldn't she shake this feeling of fear? Suddenly Inuyasha wrapped his arm around Kagome and drew her near to him.
"Inuyasha." She whispered as she laid her head on his chest and closed her eyes. "l love you." She knew that as long as Inuyasha was by her side, she would always feel safe. With that comforting thought in mind, she was finally able to drift into a peaceful sleep.
