A/N: Thank you DarkSkiesStarryEyes, LoneStorm, Mayhaah, Foxbracken - Phoenix Everren, Guestand DarylDixon'sgirl1985 for reviewing! ToQuaternary-I appreciate the constructive criticism. I'll keep it in mind.
And I'm sorry I'm so late with this chapter, school's been absolutely crazy.

As Alex catches up to Will- which is surprisingly easy because running is basically the only thing she's good at, except, of course, pissing off people and reading but you can't really be good at reading because everyone who was given a proper education and doesn't have dyslexia or something similar is good at reading. Usually. Okay, getting off topic. As she catches up to him, she yells, "What's Plan B?"

He says something she can't understand.

"Huh?"

"Don't. Have. One," He grunts out.

They round a corner and pause to catch their breath.

"You don't have a Plan B? A giant dog with teeth that only vampires should be allowed to have is chasing us and you're telling me you don't have a plan? Why was it chasing you in the first place?" She asks Will, positively terrified by now.

"It's too complicated," he says, panting.

Then he starts mumbling under his breath, "….contact Camp….reinforcements….no drachmas…..hard….time…"

Alex doesn't understand a word of it.

"Okay, look," She says, trying to remain calm and keep a clear head. "First tell me what that thing is exactly and then we'll figure it out."

"Fine. Laelaps is- well, a monster. It's chasing me and since I came into contact with you, it's now chasing you too. Most monsters ignore mortals but this guy isn't like most monsters," Will says, pausing to gather his breath.

"Really? I didn't notice," Alex mutters under her breath. Will hears her though, and glares at her. She shuts up. This is not the time to be making snide remarks. She understands that.

"When I say contact I don't mean your hand brushed against mine or something. Laelaps track people using scent. When I knocked into you, a bit of my scent probably mixed with yours. If not then, it definitely has by now."

Alex doesn't have enough strength in her to get mad right now, she'll do that that. Now she focuses on learning more about this thing.

'Automatically? So what, it's like programmed in his system or something?"

"Sort of. Their sense of smell is heightened like that of a dog but a thousand times more," Will says.

Alex takes another deep breath. And inevitably starts to babble.

"This makes no sense. Wait- did you say mortals before? Dude, are you high? We're all mortals. Are you telling me that thing is immortal? Of course you're not. Because that would be crazy, right? But then again, everything so far has been cra-" She cuts off abruptly as she realizes something.

"Oh my god, it's so obvious! I'm hallucinating. I knew I shouldn't have skipped breakfast today. I didn't even have a proper dinner yesterday. Mum warned me that this type of thing might happen if I kept eating so much candy. But did I listen? No. I'm so stupid. Why can't I ever do anything right? It's my third week in U.S.A, the country where my father could have possibly be from and I've already got a detention. Not that I care about that but it has to be some kind of a re-"

She gets cut off by Will.

"Hey! Concentrate. I'm not a part of your stupid fairytale."

Alex thinks this is rather rude of him. Hasn't he been listening properly? This is a hallucination, not a fairytale. She voices her thoughts out loud.

He looks agitated now.

"Look, will you listen to me? This is not a hallucination." His tone reminds Alex of one of those movies where the people keep saying, 'Code Red, Code Red! This is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill.'

That's when she feels a sharp pain near her right elbow. She stares at Will.

"Did you just pinch me?" She demands.

He doesn't look very sorry as he says, "You were babbling. You might've gone into shock." He doesn't give her a chance to protest as he continues, "We need to do something. We'll have to come up with some sort of distraction."

"You're walking around with a sword so I'm assuming you have some sort of skills? Can't you bust out some super ninja moves to kill this thing?"She asks him.

"Bust out some super ninja skills? Holy Hephaestus, where'd you get this one?" A new voice, accompanied with a chuckle, says from somewhere behind her.

Alex does not jump.

She instead whirls around gracefully. She comes face to face with a boy who looks about her age, with brown hair and the same smile on his face that her sister had had after she'd mixed purple hair dye with Alex's shampoo.

Will's voice is full of disbelief when he asks, "Connor? What're you doing here?"
