MY NAME IS RED

It has been two years now since The Battle for The Tree of Souls was fought and when it felt like the wounds of The People have officially healed the news of Earth gave an alarming shock to the Omaticaya Clan. There was a mixture of feelings among the clan. Some wept, some didn't know what to think, and only a very few did not care. The Sky People did bring the Na'vi a lot of grief, now the possible threats that these human beings possessed can never harm them again. The human home world called Earth was no more. The clan was told that Earth was now a lifeless place.

Ta'hu'to, a teen Na'vi boy about age seventeen, thought about these things as he pulled his bow string. It was his brother's bow and one time it was his father's. Ta'hu'to concentrated, pulling his bow string. Putting his arrow in position he aimed for his target. Releasing the arrow, it hit a bag filled with dried grass and dirt that was hanging from a branch. Dirt slowly poured out and Ta'hu'to had a smile of satisfaction and being blown away.

"I did it!"

Ta'hu'to got another arrow from his quiver and was ready to give his bow another go. Ta'hu'to was considered to be a slow learner, that got him teased from time to time. He wore the everyday loin cloth with two arm bands, one on each arm. And his hair was shaggy, a bit spiky, which was not a common style among the Omaticaya.

"My Father. My brother, I did it…"

Ta'hu'to lowered his bow and arrow, the thought of his father and brother made him a bit sad. He was so young when he lost his father. When his father died Ta'hu'to's brother took the mantel as head of the family, but as Ta'hu'to got older they have not seen eye to eye on many issues. After the death of Neytiri's sister that was when it all started, unlike most of the children and adults, Ta'hu'to wanted to know more about Earth.

He wanted to know about the animals and the different varieties among the sky people, so different in appearance, but still the same race. He wanted to meet them and befriend them, but now he knew that would never happen. Earth was destroyed and one sky man told him that Earth was already dead before it burned. The sky man was very sad about this.

"You finally did it, Ta'hu'to!"

Smiling Ta'hu'to turned around to see a Na'vi teen girl his age. This Na'vi girl wore more clothing than most Na'vi women in the clan, her clothes were considered unusual. The Na'vi girl wore a head band of red and yellow. Her loin cloth and 'tube top' looked like it was Egyptian linen, and she wore an anklet around her right foot. To simply put it the girl looked like a Na'vi Egyptian.

"I see you, May'at!" greeted Ta'hu'to.

"I see you, my friend. You've gotten better."

"Thank you."

"You were thinking about your brother again?"

"Yes."

Ta'hu'to and May'at have been close friends since they were small children and after the Fall of Kelutrel they've become even closer. May'at lost most of her family, now all who was left was her Aunt Mo'at and her cousin Neytiri. As for Ta'hu'to he only had his aged mother, but they were close friends of the clan's head family and the chief took Ta'hu'to under his wing.

"He left this world on good terms. You know that," said May'at.

"I know," said Ta'hu'to. "I've had enough training for the day. Let's go home."

The two friends left for home or for their new home in the past year called New Kelutrel. Unbeknownst to them they are about to make a new friend on the way.

Somewhere in the canopy a five digit hand was reaching for a tear-shaped fruit that was crimson red in color with a tuft of green on top that connected to a branch. With a growling stomach throughout most of the day the owner of that five digit hand was very close to getting one of that-said fruit.

New Kelutrel, that is New Hometree in English, was not very far, but Ta'hu'to and May'at decided to take their time to adore the wonders of the jungle as they walked.

In a small open spot of grass they saw a pair of blue six legged deer called yerik grazing. The two yerik took notice of their passing. As if the two scrawny beasts wanted to fight, the yerik spread out the two yellow fans that were beside their ears, and puckered up their lips to reveal beaver-like teeth. Ta'hu'to snickered and May'at giggled at the sight of the yerik. These six legged deer were cowards by nature and their display was to give could-be threats an impression not to come near or I will hurt you. The contact did not last long and the two yerik ran off to find another quiet place to graze.

The Pandoran jungles were filled with exotic life that was truly alien to the human race! Nothing that was made to be in Star Wars and Star Trek could describe the fauna and flora that lived on Pandora! Things that were never part of Earth's biology were on Pandora; a physical connection that only one scientist was beginning to understand, but this knowledge was tossed aside by others. There are giant carnivorous plants that could consume bigger prey like birds, rodents, and anything else big enough to fall into their sweet scented goo and fall in. Pandora was just filled with life not even recorded in human discovery!

The five digit hand finally got a grasp of the crimson tear fruit.

"Got it!" said a young boy.

Snap!

"Oh oh."

Hitting the ground next to May'at was a crimson tear fruit. A second, a third, then five, and after that a dozen and more with something heavy landed on top of Ta'hu'to and May'at forcing them to lie flat on the ground!

The two teenage Na'vi moaned at their surprise from the jungle canopy.

"At least I landed on something soft," said a relieved new voice. "And sticky."

The two teen Na'vi picked up the new voice right away. The words that were spoken were not of The People, but of the alien English language.

Getting two their feet, rolling off the fruit, the stranger rolled off them to and laid flat on the ground. Dusting the dirt off themselves Ta'hu'to's and May'at's eye went wide what they saw getting two his feet in front of them. It was a tawtute or a Sky Person, but it wasn't just a Sky Person. It was a young boy. The young boy was fair skinned with red hair and was no older than nine. He wore a simple grey t-shirt, blue sports shorts, and a pair of sneakers. As much as seeing a human boy was both bizarre and amazing that wasn't the weird part. What was weird was the boy wasn't wearing a breathing mask, but he was about the size of a Na'vi child! He was bigger than a human adult or just as tall! He was breathing the Pandoran air that was supposed to be toxic to human kind!

"Ptew!"

The human boy got to his feet with the crimson tear fruit still in his hand, but before he could take a bite he saw Ta'hu'to and May'at in front of him. His eyes revealed to be a blue color. The boy dropped his late breakfast and stared at the two Na'vi not knowing what to do.

The boy put up his arms midway, dropping the fruit, and moved away slowly still keeping his eyes on the two Na'vi. Ta'hu'to and May'at looked at the sky boy curiously. What was he trying to do with his hands? Was he trying to push them away? They definitely knew that he was scared of them and nervous.

"Hello," said Ta'hu'to making the first move.

The boy didn't stop moving, but replied back.

"Hi."

"It's alright," said Ta'hu'to trying to speak good English. "We won't hurt. We nice."

"Yes," agreed May'at. "No harm. No harm."

During the past two years, May'at and Ta'hu'to have been keeping up with their English. Besides Neytiri and Mo'at, the two were among a few of their clan that spoke good English.

A large growling sound came from the boy's stomach. He hadn't eaten a thing all day. Clutching his stomach feeling hunger pain, the boy landed onto his knees. He was starving and was getting weaker to move.

Getting an idea, Ta'hu'to got some food out of the small sack he carried with him. Unwrapping a leaf wrap revealing a small loaf of bread, Ta'hu'to walked slowly to the human boy, and crutched down. The human boy noticed, but did not move. He looked at the curious food and recognized it as bread that he had never seen before.

"Food," said Ta'hu'to. "You hungry?"

The boy slowly hesitated reached out for the bread in Ta'hu'to's hands. Ta'hu'to noticed this hesitation, the boy was being cautious and weary as if expecting a trick or a quick grab. The moment passed and the human boy grabbed the bread and started eating away. Eyes open wide to its deliciousness he eagerly ate it in haste.

"Good?" asked May'at.

The boy shook his head up and down. They two Na'vi understood this as yes. Ta'hu'to got more food out of his bag and the boy continued eating.

"How is he so big?" asked May'at in their language.

"He isn't wearing those masks?" said Ta'hu'to. "I think he is alone and doesn't know what to do."

"I agree. We need to take him home with us."

"The People will not like this, but JakeSully will know what to do."

The boy had finish his late breakfast and stared at the two Na'vi.

"Thank you," he said.

"You're welcome," said Ta'hu'to speaking in good English. "I am Ta'hu'to."

"Ta'hu'to," responded the boy pronouncing the name.

"I am May'at," said May'at introducing herself.

"May'at."

"What is your name?" they asked in unison.

Wiping the crumbs of bread from his mouth the boy didn't say anything for a moment. He looked at them, his blue eyes meeting their golden yellow eyes.

A gentle breeze came through covering them in a comfortable wind and giving the air a sweet aroma.

"Red. My name is Red."
