'Chapter 2'
'The teenage Gem felt a mixture of unease and of happiness as he flew across the stars. His head filled with memories of the small time he had spent with his mother before her sudden disappearance.
Soon enough his eyes widened as he caught a glimpse of something in the distance. A wide smile formed on his face as diamonds formed in his eyes. With a joyful squeal escaping his mouth he took off with incredible speed towards the source of his excitement.
Meanwhile
A blue Gem, wearing a blue dress along with having the appearance of a teenager, staring angrily at the young boy she held with a water bubble. "What are you doing here, Steven?" she asked him, her eyes having a reflective surface due to her current conduction.
"What? I...No! What are you doing here? This thing, the ocean, this is crazy! Can't we work this out? We Gems should be friends." the young half-Gem said. "Whoa!" he cried out as the Gem propelled him forward until he was inches from her face.
"Don't you know anything, Steven?" the blue Gem glared at him. "Your friends, they don't really care about other Gems. All they care about is the Earth." she said, shutting her eyes and clenching her hands into fists. "But I never believed in this place..." she said, staring up at the stars.
The blue Gem walked over to the edge of her water pillar, releasing Steven in the process, before falling to her knees with her anger and determination fading with each passing moment. "I just want to go home." she said, hanging her head.
"I know how important home can be. But that's why I'm here. You took the ocean away, and the ocean is an important part of my home." Steven said, having laid down on his knees next to her.
The blue Gem turned to him with a look telling him to understand her reasoning, "I'm only using the ocean because my gem is cracked." placing a hand to her chest. "If I just stretch it far enough..." she said, her arms shaking as she clenching them back into fists before letting out a sigh in defeat. "This is never going to work." she said, slumping over.
Suddenly, the blue Gem heard a strange sound having her raise an eyebrow. "Do you hear that?" she said. She then was tackled back by a dual-colored blur having her yelp and slide across the water tower. She groaned before blushing, a yellow hue crept onto her cheeks, as she felt whatever had it's arms wrapped around her nuzzling against her. "Hey! Hey! Hands off buddy!" she yelled, pulling herself off the stranger and glaring at him.
However, the blue Gem's face softened and replaced with a shocked look as she stared at the stranger. She immediately noticed it had been another Gem, but what caught her attention the most was the familiar grey eyes that stared back at her with longing.
She slowly walked towards the stranger before placing her hands upon his cheeks as a flood of emotions began to flow through her. "Did I finally go insane...?" she asked herself, thinking her long solitude within the mirror cracked her mind.
The stranger let out a sad chuckle as tears welled up in his eyes, placing his hands above her own before placing a kiss on them. "N-No, mom. I'm really here." he said. The blue Gem let out a mixture of a cry and a gasp as she ran her hands through the teenage Gem's face.
Meanwhile, the young half-Gem stood across from the two Gem's, watching the scene in confusion but with a smile. Suddenly, the surface shook having the boy cry out in alarm and getting the Gem's attention. "S-Sorry Steven. Almost lost my concentration there." Lapis said, quickly keeping the tower back into stability. "I just had a lot to take in after all." she said.
The teenage Gem flew over to the young half-Gem then knelt in front of him as he hummed in thought. "Uhh, hi." the young half-Gem said, smiling sheepishly. The teenage Gem suddenly pulled up the half-Gem's shirt having a small blush creep onto Steven's face, while the teenage Gem stared at the pink gem that was attached to his belly.
"So, you're a half-Gem aren't you?" Azurite said, staring at him. The young boy gave him a small nod having the teenage Gem place tap his cheek with his index finger. "Such a strange thing..." he said before feeling his mother wrap her arms around him from behind.
"Oh, I'm just so happy you're here! We can finally go home and be a family again!" Lapis happily gushed.
The dual-colored Gem inhaled sharply before turning to look at her, "Um, the thing is. Well, Homeworld isn't how you left it, Mom." he said. The blue Gem formed a shocked look on her face while Azurite took notice of his mother's reflective eyes. "Let me fix that for you, Mom." he said.
"Wait, what?" the blue Gem said before Azurite placed a hand onto her gem. A white light then flowed from his gem and traveled down his arm and flowed out of his hand and into her gem. The blue Gem widened her eyes as she felt the cracks between her gem form back together before her body was engulfed in white light then dissipated before a pair of water wings sprouted from her gem.
The blue Gem stared at the teenage Gem in shock, stared back at her wings then back at him. "What in the name of the Diamonds was that!?" she said.
The dual-colored Gem chuckled sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head, "It's a long story." he said then formed a thoughtful look on his face. 'It's too soon to bring her back to Homeworld. So much has changed and I don't think she could handle it, at least not yet. It might be best if I explain things to her before that, meanwhile...' he thought, looking towards Steven. "Excuse me..." Azurite said.
"Huh?" Steven said, caught off guard by the attention drawn on him.
"You wouldn't happen to know any place we can stay for a while, do you?" the teenage Gem asked.
As soon as the words left his mouth, stars formed in Steven's eyes. "You can stay with us!" he cried out, having the teenage Gem tilt his head in confusion while a look of horror etched Lapis's face. "I mean me and the Gems. We don't live that far from here and the Gems can make room for you at the temple." he said.
'It sounds promising, especially if their are other Gems involved. We might feel more at home at them rather than the natives of this planet.' Azurite thought. "We'd like that, um..." he said. "My name's Steven" the young half-Gem said.
"No! Azurite!" Lapis cried out, pulling at her son's arm. "We can't trust those Gems! Their the ones that kept me locked in some prison for all this time!" she said.
"No, Lapis! I'm sure they didn't mean to do that to you. But, if they did, there's gotta be more to this than we both think." Steven begged her.
"It's plain and simple, Steven! They could have freed me whenever they wanted, but they choose not to. They don't even deserve to be called guardians of anything if they can't protect their own kind!" Lapis yelled.
"Mom..." Azurite said, having Lapis stare at him. Her eyes widen as Azurite stares at her with big sad eyes.
"Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm not falling for that again. Lapis said, crossing her arms and turning away.
The dual-colored Gem let out a soft whimper having her open on of her eyes and stare at him with his eyes somehow have gotten bigger. "...F-Fine, but I won't like it." she sighed.
The teenage Gem let out a squeal before embracing her. "I'm gonna regret this..." she said.'
