Chapter Two
The scream that left her was enough to scare both of her parents. Looking at her reflection, Sakura noticed she had brown on the top coat of her hair as pink was underneath the layer. Her now blue, green, yellow eyes held fear and confusion. Pounding on the door tore Sakura from the mirror.
"Sakura! Open this door!" Her father yelled through the wooden door.
"What happened to me?" She yelled back in fear.
"Sakura, sweetie, please open the door. We will explain everything." Sakura's mother said soothingly.
As soon as she heard her mother's voice, it calmed the freaking out teen. Opening the door, Sakura peaked out. Both of her parents gaped at their daughter's new appearance.
"Oh shit." Her father said softly as he saw how different his daughter looked.
"Honey, come downstairs." The now recovered mother said as she elbowed her husband out of the way.
Sniffling, Sakura followed her parents down the stairs and into the kitchen. Her heart was hammering like a hammer on an anvil. Fear was gripping her stomach because she didn't know what was going on. Sakura's father sighed as he sat heavily in his chair.
"Sweetie, I know we told you that we didn't come from a high end clan, but that was a lie. It was something that we came up with before you were born in order to protect us and any of our future children." The matriarch said while patting her daughter's hand.
"But I don't understand, why the secrecy. What could be so deadly if someone found out?" Sakura asked quietly.
"Your father and I are descendants form the Village Hidden in the Flames, which is a rather old and rarely talked about village. Almost no one alive today know about this village because of a civil war lasting around two hundred or so years. Hell, which is what it was known as at the time, finally cut all ties with the other villages, as the civil war took a nasty turn."
"So why now would anything happen to me? I still don't understand." Sakura said softly.
"When you were born, we put a heavy technique on you to hold off your true appearance until you came of age. However it seems that it wore off sooner than we expected. The civil war has now branched out into the outside again, the Village Hidden in the Light, or Heaven is seeking to kill those who show certain traits from Hell. We were worried that you might have those traits." Sakura's father added.
"What traits are those?" Fear wavered Sakura's voice.
"There are many, but the basics is extreme compatibility to fire and shadow techniques and possible, though it is rare, the ability to project ones mental self into other's physique."
"I can't use fire or shadow ninjutsu, or so I think, but the mental, I can do. I did it to Ino in the Chunin Exams." Sakura said in wonderment.
"Though I doubt the Heaven shinobi will target you, Sakura, please don't tell anyone about your family line. It's just a precaution for your safety." Sakura's mother asked pleading. "Oh dear, Sakura-sweetie, you're going to be late for training."
Looking at the clock, Sakura squeaked in fright. Zooming out of her chair, she grabbed her shoes and struggled into them. Running over to her parents, she placed a kiss on both of their cheeks.
"I promise I won't tell anyone, but later, can you tell me the full story?"
"Of course my dear, have fun and keep an eye out for anyone suspicious." Sakura's father said softly.
Giving a thumbs up, the former pinkette ran out the door full speed. The two parents felt her chakra vanish before they both gave a sigh of defeat.
"We need to tell her about the main reason we are allowed to stay here in Konoha, my love." Sakura's mother sighed again at her husband's words. Not saying anything, the two sat in uncomfortable silence.
Jumping down from the roof, Sakura breathed deeply from her nose. It made so much sense to her now, as to why she kicked Ino from her mind. It wasn't that she built a 'kick-ass' version of herself in her mind, but rather a projector, like Ino's clan, but better. Smiling to herself, Sakura wondered what other things her parents had to tell her. A sudden chill went down her spine as she thought of someone going around and killing those who were blood related to those who lived in Hell. What could be the reason for that she wondered.
Walking to the bridge, Sakura saw Sasuke and Naruto already present. The two looked up and gaped at the sight of her. Obviously they were rather shocked to see how different she looked. Naruto quickly recovered and ran at her at full speed.
"Sakura!" He yelled.
Just as he was about to tackle his female teammate, the girl side stepped just as he jumped at her. Instead of landing on a body, the boy found himself kissing the floor. Little did she know was that Team Guy saw everything from as they walked forward.
"Holy crap, Sakura, that was awesome!" Naruto bounced back up and grabbed Sakura in a hug.
"Yea, I guess." She winced as she felt her bones starting to hurt. "Can I breath please?"
Naruto let her go. Feeling air go back to her lungs, Sakura gave a sigh of relief. Looking at Naruto, she punched him in the shoulder making the blonde step back from the impact of it.
"What did you do? Did you get contacts and dye your hair? When did you do it? Or did you use a technique?" All of the questions were thrown at her all at once.
"Easy Naruto, I did it last night. Not bad right?" Sakura said, she knew that she couldn't tell him the real reason, but it felt wrong to lie all the same.
"You look super awesome! Oi, asshole, don't you think Sakura looks cool?" Naruto called to Sasuke.
Instead of saying anything, the dark haired boy just turned away from his teammates, ignoring them. Huffing at Sasuke's attitude, Naruto swung around and marched to him. There the two started arguing again.
Rolling her eyes, Sakura walked forward. She passed Sasuke and didn't bother even talking to him or acknowledging him. She went to a tree and jumped into it, waiting for her sensei to arrive.
"What are you standing there for Neji?" Tenten asked her teammate.
Not saying anything, the team captain moved forward ignoring his friend. He was rather shocked to see the former pinkette now not pink, it was rather odd to say the least. Once Team Guy came into the clearing, Rock Lee started to pronounce his love to Sakura only to dodge a fist from Naruto. The two began to spar right there, much to the annoyance of their friends and teammates. Jumping down from her tree, Sakura landed next to Tenten, making the girl smile brightly.
"Wanna get away from the boys?" The double bun brunette asked.
"Please and thank you." Sakura said laughing.
The two girls walked away to where the dummies were set up. There they each threw shurikens and kunais at them. Sakura's weapons barely made it to the dummies where as Tenten's hit right in the bullseye, the girls just laughed despite all of Sakura's mistakes.
It was well after noon when the two teams slunked from the training field. Hunger had set in making everyone a little grumpy.
"Naruto, for the umpteenth time, shut your stomach up!" Tenten yelled to the blonde.
"I can't really do that unless I eat." Naruto whined out.
Sitting down at a table, Sakura found herself between Tenten and Neji where as Sasuke was sitting smushed against Rock Lee and Naruto. He did not look happy. Waiting for their food to come, Naruto's stomach growled something close to "feed me". Five people turned and looked at Naruto who flushed a deep red.
Laughing at him, Sakura placed a hand over her mouth in hopes of smothering her giggles where as Tenten just threw her head back and cackled. Lee too was laughing his ass off. Neji and Sasuke looked at the blond in a mix of horror and amusement. Somewhere in their laughing fit, their food arrived catching everyone's attention.
"Hey Tenten?" The brunette turned to Sakura.
"Yes, Sakura?" Tenten's brown eyes had a gleam to it.
"Shopping?" The two high fived at that making the boys roll their eyes.
"Hell yea, girl's day out for sure." The two smiled at each other.
"The youth had left your face, Naruto! Let the women be women and enjoy your meal!" Neji snorted into his ramen at Lee's speech.
Seeing Neji even make a sound, Naruto busted into laughter. However, the blond didn't realize his hand was so close to Sasuke's bowl of ramen until it was upended on the Uchiha. Naeji laughed even harder as he watched the sole survivor jump out of his spot in the booth to wipe the hot food off his body.
Tenten and Sakura turned to see a mess in front of them. Look at the four males, the girls decided not to even ask because no one could breathe.
Turned back to her food, Sakura felt like someone was staring at her. Shrugging it off, the girl ate her chicken ramen. Calming down, Neji made a mental note to ask Tenten about Sakura's new look. It intrigued him greatly. Looking up, Sakura met his eyes, only for the two to look away from each other flushing softly.
After lunch was over, Tenten and Sakura left arm in arm. The two were talking about various things. Naruto was trying to apologize to Sasuke but the blonde was getting dark looks from the raventte. Neji watched as the girls disappeared before he set out on his way home. Lee stood with Naruto as a mediator but he too was getting dark looks from Sasuke.
Sakura laughed at Tenten's story when a sudden thought came to her. Maybe she should go and ask the Hokage to train her. It was weird thought seeing how the Lady Tsuande didn't have an apprentice other than Lady Shizune. Though it wouldn't hurt to ask, Konoha could profit from another medical personnel. Smiling at that thought, the girl followed Tenten through a weapon's store. In a few days she'll ask the Hokage, but for now she wanted to enjoy her time with her friend.
