I woke up on a flying carriage.

No, seriously. When I woke up, my side was bandaged and I was on some kind of carriage. I stood up and as soon as the wind touched me, I felt power surge back into me. I looked passed a kid and saw… was that flying horses? Pegasus'. Of course. Like this day couldn't get any weirder? But, I was in a flying chariot. I looked down and saw a large camp nestled in the woods and valley.

"Good morning! I'm Olivia. I'm your ride to camp."

"Where am I?" I asked sleepily.

"On long island by New York." she replied, looking away from me to do a quick check to make sure we were landing okay.

"New York!?" I exclaimed, "How long was I out?"
"Oh... about 2 days or so." she informed me in a deadpan expression.

"Oh my lord. But this thing can travel fast...right?"

My question went unanswered.

We reached the camp site. The chariot landed by the stables. Everyone crowded around me.

"A new comer huh?" a beefy guy in the back said snidely.
"Right." said Olivia, agreeing.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"Oh. Welcome to Camp Demi! I'm Kaila by the way. I'm the daughter of Hemera, goddess of hope!" said Kaila.

"Camp… Demi? What is this camp for? Training for bike riding and swimming?"

"More like training for fighting monsters."

"Oh yeah, that's totally normal…" I muttered.

"So am I a Half-blood?"

"Yup! Or else you wouldn't have made it through the borders by that tall pine tree. You make it through, you're a half-blood."

"Thalia's tree…" I whispered in awe, I thought I'd never see it in person...well, if I knew it was actually real.

"Exactly."

I looked around and I got to say, this place looks a lot like Greece, well, if Greece was in the Twenty-First century. There was Greek columns and a fighting arena and an auditorium and a dining pavilion. It was so amazing! And, weirdly, a very high-tech pavillion.

"This place's original name was Camp Half-blood. Amazing heroes trained here." Olivia explained.

"Cool… Why did you change the name?" I questioned, thinking the worst.
"Camp Half-blood lasted a really long time but all the original campers left a few years ago to another place, New Rome to be exact, to start a normal life, as normal as it can be for Demigods, at least. But, we wanted to change the name as if to say we start a new way of being children of the Gods."

"Why Rome? I thought Romans hate Greeks." Apparently I was still rather ignorant about a few aspects, even after reading the Percy Jackson books.

"Well, you read about Percy Jackson, right? Remember how Reyna brought back the Athena Parthenos and made peace between Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter? Since then, Jason has been trying to make some more Greek. Ever since then, the Romans allowed the Greeks to stay there and live a normal life without monsters chasing them around. It's a great place to be when you're older."

"But, I read that most Demigods don't live into adulthood..it's just too dangerous." I said, confused.

"Well now that the doors of death were broken, monsters don't pop up as much. But someone famous that lived to an older age is Percy Jackson. He has his own kids and lives happily with Annabeth in New Rome."

Now, all the memories of reading about the beautiful Roman architecture at New Rome and how adults were living safely came back to me in full-force. Before, I always had the dream that if I were ever a Demigod, I would want to live in that camp and have children there and die at a good old ripe age.

"Sounds like a great place to be. I want to go there when I'm older." I say, pulling myself from the memories.
"Well, if you live that long." Oliva says calmly.

"Right." I say, and then pause. "Wait, what?"

We were walking through the arena where kids were fighting vigorously.

"So, Percy Jackson. Are you sure it's the REAL Percy? I mean the destroyer of Kronos, son of Poseidon?" I ask, thinking that there is a possibility someone else might have the same name.
"Yes, that's the same guy. A few years ago, we had our senior scribe, a man named Rick Riordan, write up all of Percy's adventures, from his first summer of camp to the Giant war. See, that's why you know all of this, because we had Rick write these books. Everything you know is mostly true, I guess. Unless Rick lied or something, which I doubt. By the way, he's a son of Athena and the Senior Scribe of the camp, if you didn't know." rambled Olivia, going on about how long it took Rick, and stuff like that.

After a few minutes of that, I stopped her: "Olivia...Olivia...OLIVIA! That is really interesting, but I asked you, like, 5 times about if you think I will be a good hero.

She blushed, realizing how long she rambled on. "Um, I think you will be a good hero (actually, heroine, to be exact) as long as you believe in yourself. Oh, gods, that sounds like a cheesy line from a mortal movie. But, yeah, you should be great. Anyway, do you have any thoughts on who might be your father...well, barring that your mortal parent isn't your father?

"Nah, it's my mom, my mortal parent I mean." I say, thinking about my mom.

"Okay, so, any ideas?"

"Nada, Olivia."
"Okay. Now, we need to go to Chiron"

"Wait, wait, and wait. That is the REAL, Chiron? The trainer of all the greatest heroes?" As soon as those words left my mouth, I realized what a stupid question it was.

Olivia gave me a weird look but replied nonetheless.

"You betcha. Come on."

We walked to the other side of the camp. On a hill was a large, blue, house looking building. I figured it must be the Big House- it had at least four stories with an attic. Probably where the Oracle is...wait, no, Rachel Dare is the Oracle now, I thought. At the entrance was a square table with 2 men sitting playing a card game. There was someone else there too, but he has thorns sticking out of his head. Is that a Satyr?

"Jackie, this is Chiron." introduced Olivia. Chiron was a middle aged looking man with a black beard streaked with white. He was sitting on a wheelchair with a blanket over his legs. He looked awfully familiar…

"Jackie! Why don't you look great! I'm very glad you were able to make it here alive!" Chiron exclaimed.

"Yes sir, I'm glad too. I'm sorry to ask you, but do I know you somewhere? You look really familiar but I can't put my finger on it..."
"I'm sure you do. Perhaps at school? It is I, Mr. Ryan, your English teacher. By the way, you have an A on your essay, as usual. You have impeccable writing skills...unlike that math grade on that last test...hmm. Oh, here is Mr. D, the camp director."

"Hello, child." said Mr. D, he didn't look up from his cards. He was wearing a leopard skin shirt with purple pants. He had a Diet Coke in his hands. Mmm, I could go for a Diet Coke right now, I thought, mentally licking my lips at the thought of an ice-cold coke...Back on track, Jackie, we have more important things to do than fantasize about Diet Coke! Anyway, Mr.D sounds very familiar. Leopard skin, coke, name has a D… It's him…

"So you're Dionysus. I thought you would be more rude than that according to Percy Jackson." For a second, I thought he would turn me into a grape vine or something with that rude remark about him being rude. But, he just replied calmly,

"I wouldn't say that. Peter Johnson was full of lead."

"Percy Jackson, sir." I said in reply, tired of him making fun of one of my favorite characters, like he did all the time in the books. At that moment thunder shook the sky.

"Whatever. Anywho, My father, Zeus, is calling for me. Stupid meetings. Oh, and don't call us by our names or you could cause some serious trouble."

With that, Mr. D vanished with leaving a small hint of a grape smell.

"So Chiron, why were you at my school?"
"Well, Kat and Alina told me that they believed you were a half-blood since you had ADHD and Dyslexia, a common sign of a demigod. Then Grover here came running into this run, panicked, yelling 'I sense her! I sense her!' At first, I was afraid that he meant that Gaea was awakening, again, even though that was thought to be impossible. When we calmed him down, he said that he sensed you, or another extremely powerful Demigod, and that monsters were very close by. When I went to school myself to investigate, I felt your presence. Very strong." he paused, looking at the sky slightly, and continued,

"I was surprised that this was the first time you've been attacked. A few days ago, I had a delivery from an unknown person. It was very small with a note on it. It read, 'To Jackie, from Dad'. I knew this had to mean you, as the present itself held a strong aura of magic. I then gave this to Kat and told her to give it to you when the monsters start to come. She did exactly as I said. You should thank her when you go and see her."

"Yeah. I definitely will." I knew Kat as a good friend. She may be a little darker than most kids but that just makes her smile more worth it. I can make her laugh pretty good. But after being friends with her for three years, I never thought she would save my life from a monster. In Karate, she's a brown belt and her next level is black belt. I'm only half way at purple belt. I always thought of her as saving me at an attack from a stranger, but saving my life from a monster? Dang…

"Chiron, when do I get to be claimed?" I asked, out of the blue.

"Well, child, it usually happens on your 13th birthday. It should be in October, correct?"

"Yes. But you know that I don't like mysteries."

"Hmm.. Well you should get a tour."

"Chiron, I'll give Jackie a tour of the camp. She's probably going to be here awhile anyway so might as well get her to meet the rest of the campers." Olivia said.

"All right but be careful, you heard what happened to Percy on his first day." Chiron replied.

"Yeah. That was crazy story." I remembered the story. Percy was getting a tour from Annabeth and the first person he met was Clarisse, a daughter of Ares, the god of war. She teased him and tried to give him a swirly. But, since he's the son of Poseidon, even though he didn't know it, he felt a feeling in his gut and suddenly all the water in the bathroom burst out and took Clarisse and her ugly sisters down. I got to agree with Chiron, I don't need on my first day of Camp, it's already eventful enough for my first day.

We walked through the Dining Pavilion and the Amphitheater to the Arena, where I saw Alina and Kat. They were fighting with dummies and I got to say, they're pretty good. Kat rolled to the back of the dummy and then stabbed its back. Alina, on the other hand, slashed then jumped, doing a mid-air flip. As she did the flip, she jabbed her sword in the dummies head. I was staring in awe. I might have looked extremely silly but I was amazing, the skill she has with a sword. I've seen Kat fight but not that fast and accurate, and Alina… She barely fights unless it's at her karate dojo.

"Hey guys. You're both really good!" I exclaimed.

"Jackie! You made it! We're so glad you're alive!" said Kat, looking away the dummy she was trying to murder.

"Yeah, I'm glad too. Can you teach me how to fight like that? You know, the flip and stab and roll to the back and cut off the head stuff?" I said excitedly, maybe I could do the same in the future!

"Jackie, you don't use a sword, remember? You have to go up close and personal with your brass knuckles. A present from your dad, also. That's really unusual, especially this time around. Y'know, I wonder who your dad actually is..."

" I don't know, hopefully we'll find out soon...Yeah, I forgot about that. So, who's going to train me then?"

"Maybe one of the Ares kids... Probably Chase. He's the cabin leader. He's really good with any kind of fighting skill, plus he's really nice, compared to other Areas kids." Alina explained.

Olivia excused herself, saying that she needed to go to her wind controlling lessons with the Zeus cabin; so Kat and Alina volunteered to give me the rest of the tour. On our way around, we passed by the other Cabins. The Demeter kids, who are amazing with plants, were growing the plants on their roof; Hermes kids were running around, sending mail to the other cabins, while the Hades kids were trying to raise the dead with the Athena cabin yelling for them to stop.

When you look through the windows of the other cabins, you could see that they were all cleaning the inside, throwing away old candy wrappers (That can't be good for their ADHD, I thought, looking at the mountains of candy wrappers), papers and stuff like that. I was guessing they were getting ready for inspection, as it was a daily occurrence in camp. I heard they were really strict about that, and I had a feeling that Hermes kids are going to have a zero. You could see piles of envelopes and packages and other stuff hanging around...maybe they'll get a 1 if they were lucky.
