Richard Grayson steps off the cemetery lot and into his new life. A life with his father, John Grayson, the only person that could possibly understand him, was gone forever. People told him it was an accident, but he knew it wasn't. The factory explosion was caused by a bomb, a cleverly made one at that, but it didn't change anything. He was alone now, and no matter how much he wished it wasn't true, it was. He was soon approached by his oldest friend Rachel Logan.

"Hey, are you going to be okay?" Rachel asked, gently rubbing his arm. R ichard pulled out of her grip and moved away.

"Yeah. Fine." He murmured. Rachel knew he was hurting, but left him alone, returning to her husband Gar, and their baby daughter, Aria. Looking longingly after his friends, Richard wished he had their life, just to relax and be together.

Walking sullenly away, a swift movement caught the corner of his eye. He turned in time to see a flash of red fly into the bushes.

"Stupid birds." He muttered to himself, continuing to walk to his car. Though he was almost twenty years old, Richard's father still supplied him with money for college and materialistic needs. Which is why several funeral goers gasped as he opened the door to his 2011 Lotus Esprit and started the engine. Despite himself, Richard smiled as he heard the familiar purr of the engine. Backing slowly out of the lot, he began to drive to his apartment in Gotham City. His whole life flew through his mind as he sped onto the freeway.

After ten years of his parents failed marriage, his father turned to his business, and his mother turned to drugs. It wasn't only him whose life was ruined, Richard had six brothers' and one sister. Mason, John, Nick, Jesse, Jake, and Eliana. He was the seventh child, and curiously, so was his father. Richard's Aunt Bee used to constantly point out he was the seventh son of a seventh son. Bee was a crazy psychic who would always take great pride in reading the Grayson kids' palms. One day, on Richard's sixteenth birthday in fact, she had gone into her "zone" and foretold in a chilling tone that "You will one day go on a great journey to destroy a great evil. Blocked only by a desire to be with the one you love." Of course, Richard thought that was utter bullshit and proceeded to tell Bee so.

Clicking the key into the lock in his door, Richard shook his head and entered his bedroom, only to find a woman sitting calmly on the edge of his bed. "Hello Richard."
