I woke up alone in my apartment; my now ex-boyfriend probably dropped me home after my photo shoot when he dumped my sorry ass.
At least I had work to look forward to, since my love life was obviously in shambles. I got out of bed, but not before considering calling in sick, at least it would have saved me from Sesshomaru's 'I told you so'.
I went into my closet and changed into a romper, Sesshomaru's brother Inuyasha was the one who got to choose what everyone wore, and according to him the assistants didn't really have to dress up so much. I did love clothes though, so I always managed to look good.
My best friends, Kagome and Sango, also worked with me. Kagome was Inuyasha's assistant and Sango was the head of security. I had known both of them since I was little and all three of us had dabbled with modeling.
When I got downstairs I heard the phone ring, Sesshomaru texted me and told me he was picking me up, since he was on his way to work anyways. He and I had essentially been conjoined at the hip since the fourth grade. He protected me from bullies, and I stayed with him because of it. I was 'little Rin' back then and I didn't really have many friends.
I got out of my apartment complex and waited by the front door, as usual. Sesshomaru came to pick me up in his Aston Martin Vanquish. I got into the passenger's seat and kissed his cheek after saying good morning.
"So, why do you look like you've been dumped," he said while driving extremely fast. If it were any other day, I would have yelled at him for being reckless.
"Because I was dumped," I said, while getting my mirror and makeup so I could cover up my dark circles; I barely slept an hour last night, due to my ice cream binge and crying.
"That's really too bad, I liked your new boyfriend," he teased, smirking at me. He had always hated my boyfriends; he was way too protective of me.
"Well at least the sex was good," I lied. I was giggling when I said that while Sesshomaru growled; I think he still thought of me as the little fourth grader who needed him to protect her.
"Come over tonight, Izayoi wants to see you and Inuyasha keeps complaining Kagome is annoying the crap out of him, since she hasn't seen you in over a week," he chuckled.
Sesshomaru was pretty laid back around me, but around everyone else he was more or less a cold, heartless, emotionless bastard that people sucked up to because of his wealth. I had never sucked up to him, and I never would. He had never been opposed to giving me what I wanted, although I didn't often want anything from him aside from his friendship.
Izayoi and Inutaisho had always been more like parents to me, and I just appreciated being able to have them around. My own parents were gone for a majority of my life, so I appreciated that they basically adopted me into their family. They gave me all the love that my parents weren't around to give.
I glanced out the window and realized we were almost to work; he parked in his reserved spot like he always did and opened my door before I had a chance.
I walked out and we walked in together, everyone always thought I was crazy to back talk to Sesshomaru during work when he was being too bossy, but if you can't sass you're best friends who can you sass.
I sat down on desk and checked all the messages for Sesshomaru; he was the owner of Taisho and Houshi law. Inuyasha and Miroku were the second in line for the ownership. Sesshomaru called me and told me to get into his office.
"Yeah Sessh," I said coming in and sitting on the edge of his desk.
"You know my parents have the party every year for all of my colleagues and business partners," he said turning to me, I nodded.
"I need to go with a date, so you're coming with me," he said turning back to his computer.
"Why should I go with you?" I said standing up, couldn't he take Kagura, she was his girlfriend not me.
"Because you're not the only one who was dumped yesterday," he said, he didn't even look sad, she was probably just another one of his sex toys.
"Someone actually had the nerve to dump you? I am impressed." I commented, patting his head. He sent me a glare and I just giggled and rolled my eyes. "Aright, I'll go with you, as long as nothing comes of it," I said leaving.
Right before I was out of the door he said, "No promises,"
I smiled to myself and went back to being in assistant mode. Before I realized, it was already three o'clock. I made sure I had nothing important to do and got up and grabbed my purse before walking to Inuyasha's office to wait for Kagome.
"Hey Kags, ready for lunch," I asked, patiently standing near her desk; she was engrossed in the book she was reading. I nudged her shoulder with my arm and she looked up at me.
"Oh, lunch! I totally forgot! Inuyasha actually cooked and you know I can't pass up something that isn't ramen," I saw the pleading look in her eyes and laughed before giving her the all clear. I wasn't exactly in the mood to go out, so I just walked into Sesshomaru's room and opened the mini fridge in there; I took yogurt and a beer.
"Weren't you going to have lunch with Kagome?" Sesshomaru asked, not even glancing up from his laptop. That man was such a workaholic.
"I don't feel like going out so I took stuff from the fridge," I said shrugging. I popped open my beer and took a long sip before walking out of his office.
Within twenty minutes Sesshomaru walked out of his room after locking the door and telling me to send his schedule for the next two weeks to Inuyasha. I did what he asked and got up, Sesshomaru was my ride anyways.
"Why'd you want to send your schedule to Inuyasha?" I asked while getting into his car. I tossed my purse and jacket into the backseat.
"I'm taking two weeks off," he declared, before quickly driving to my apartment complex. He got out of his car when I did and locked it, which I didn't expect. What exactly was he up to?
"Get enough clothing for two weeks," he said, waiting in my living room. I decided not to question it and packed my suitcase without a second thought. Sesshomaru was my boss, so if he was taking a break, so was I.
As soon as I got back into the living room he took the bag from me and dragged me out of the apartment. He put the bag in the trunk and I sat back down in the passenger's seat. He didn't talk as he drove to the Western Palace. We reached there after about fifteen minutes. I got out of the car and immediately went inside. Sesshomaru definitely didn't tell me to pack for two weeks just to visit his parents.
"Hi sweetie!" Izayoi exclaimed, giving me a huge hug.
"It's so nice to see you," I said with a smile, pulling away. Inutaisho came and hugged me too. These people were my realparents not the people who conceived me.
Inuyasha and Kagome were sitting and watching 'The Notebook' Inuyasha looked so bored, I really felt bad for him. I snuck up behind them and screamed loudly and horror movie-esqe.
Inuyasha jumped up and fell off the couch, Kagome was laughing so much tears were coming out of her eyes.
"Stupid freaking wenches," he muttered when he sat back on the couch, this made me and Kagome laugh harder. Sesshomaru walked in and told me that we were heading out. I was a little disappointed that we wouldn't be spending more time here, but I knew that Sesshomaru would take me somewhere to get my mind off of my sad love life.
"So, where are we going?" I asked, while walking back to his car in the garage. He didn't answer me for a second, but then he glanced up at me with this amused look on his face.
"I thought getting out of the country might be good for you, so we're going to France. You've never been there, and I have a business conference in Paris this week anyways." Sesshomaru answered nonchalantly while getting into the car. What the hell? Why is Sesshomaru taking me to Paris, France, of all places?
"What are you up to?" I asked him directly, since he tended to answer direct questions.
"You'll see. Don't worry." Sesshomaru didn't offer any other explanation, instead just pulling out of the garage and heading to the airport. I assumed that we would be taking his family's jet, since this was a pretty sudden flight to be taking…actually, I wonder if he was planning this.
It's not that I thought he was trying to do something sneaky, I just felt like it was odd that he would be taking me to the 'City of Love' of all places. He usually never invited me on business trips or anything, so what was so special about right now?
"You were dumped for the fifth time in the last six months; I figured you needed a break from men, and the only way I can ensure that happens is by taking you to an obscure place and watching you at all times." Sesshomaru answered, almost like he was reading my mind. His explanation didn't entirely help my confusion, but at least he gave me one.
We managed to get to the airport in a pretty short amount of time and within an hour we were already in the jet, heading to Paris. I was really hoping that this trip would help me feel less shitty…or at least give me an opportunity to drown my sorrows with alcohol.
I haven't updated this fanfiction, or written anything in the past two years, and I figured that I might as well start again now. I realized that this story wasn't going in the direction that I had originally intended it to go to, so I decided that was going to rewrite the entire story. I promise the plot won't change too dramatically, but I hope the quality of the story becomes a lot better in this rewriting process. Thank you so much for reading!
