Part 2- A strange meeting of sorts

I believe that what I wrote doesn't make sense without writing a chapter explaining why Riddler was in the middle of the street at night… plus it gives me an excuse to write more Ed :D

So.. this is Edward's POV

The night air was bitter and nippy, enough so to turn the tip of Edward's nose a crimson, not to mention giving him the shivers.

The reason for his suffering? The overwhelming amount of smoke swirling around the Iceburg lounge that night. Nearly every mouth had a smouldering ciggie pinched between the lips. He could only cope with the lack of clean air for so long, you know. That and Copplepot's form of chitchat… He got out of there as quick as he could when he 'lightly' teased him of his defeat back at Arkham.

"I don't want my lungs filling with that… " Edward muttered with disgust, shaking his head, taking deep breaths to effectively cleanse his lungs; whilst leaning against a nearby wall. How very convenient. He wasn't risking the chance of developing lung cancer! Not in a month of Sundays. Some would say he was being melodramatic… but the smell of tobacco clinging to his hair was a no-no.

However, a rumble sounded, a few rain droplets falling to signal the coming of a storm. The Riddler grumbled. 'Just perfect…nothing like a little precipitation to dampen a man's mood…' Though he smirked slightly at the pun… intended of course.

Yet that small amount of amusement died as the rain started to drench him, seeming to wash away with the flow of the rainwater. He leaned most of his back against a nearby wall, ears picking up sounds of cars travelling along the roads, the rain hitting the pavement, and the sound of footsteps rounding the corner…- footsteps?

Edward found it hard to see the person due to the poor lighting, but he could identify the figure of a woman. Possibly a young one too.

The Riddler had never minded a little flirting. The lack of light could be used to his advantage… allowed him an air of mysteriousness…- what? He appreciated having that particular effect upon the opposite sex.
