Yeah. . . . Remember how I said I was writing this story to work on my updating? I guess it didn't work . . . Sorry about the wait (if anyone is actually reading). Well, hope you enjoy!

Disclaimer: Any Vocaloids appearing in this story do NOT belong to me. If they did, KaiMei would be canon. ;)

It was a bright, balmy day that found Meiko and Lola walking to their first day of school. Lola's brother, Leon, lagged behind, for fear of being seen on his first day with girls. Every now and then Lola would look back and yell, "Leon! Hurry up! We don't want to be late."

Leon would wave to show he had heard them and continue his slow, mournful amble up the sidewalk.

"We're not even in the same class; why do we have to walk together?" He whined.

"Because mom said so, that's why." Lola snapped. She strode over to grab his arm, but he retreated back at lightning speed. He always worked to maintain a distance of at least ten feet between them.

"Leon!" Lola pleaded.

Leon darted to the left and ran at a ten foot radius around them. "See you at the school!" He called, now running ten feet in front of them. Lola and Meiko exchanged a defeated look and ran after him.

As they neared the school building, Meiko suddenly gasped. "Lola! Hide me!" Without waiting for a response, she dove behind her friend.

Lola bemusedly, turned to look down at her friend. "What's the matter? Who're you hiding from this time?"

Meiko pointed a shaky finger at the front door. Lola followed to see where she was pointing and saw a small blue figure conversing with Leon. Sighing, Lola patted Meiko on the head "Ok, you can stay behind me." She said sympathetically. "But we'll be late for class if we don't get moving."

"That's OK; I don't like class that much." Meiko mumbled, clinging to Lola's skirt like a toddler.

"Well, my mom says she'll take away my TV priv-" she paused to sound out the tongue twisting word. "Privileges, if I don't do well in class." She tried to walk forward, but Meiko was still holding her skirt. It nearly came off as she stumbled. "Meiko, come on!" She said exasperatedly. "Kaito's not going to bother you!"

"Yes he is."

"No he's not."

"Yes he-" Lola jerked her skirt from Meiko's hands before the latter had time to finish her sentence. Meiko went sprawling forward.

"Oooow!" Meiko moaned, sitting up and examining her left knee. It was scraped, and bleeding. "That hurt!"

"Oh, Meiko, I'm sorry!" Lola knelt down next to her friend.

"What's wrong?" Meiko panicked slightly as she heard the voice. Looking up, she saw Kaito's concerned face staring down at her.

"Meiko's hurt." Lola said before Meiko could shush her.

Kaito's eyes went wide. "Oh no!" he said in a melodramatic voice. Then his voice turned soft, and comforting. "Here, I can help." He bent down and pulled a band-aid out of his pocket, and attempted to put it on Meiko's knee. However, Kaito and sticky things don't mix well, and he had to get another one, since the first was stuck to his forehead.

"I always keep extras!" He stated proudly, holding up another one.

"I don't want your help!" Meiko whined. "It doesn't even hurt!"

Lola was clueless. "Yes it does." She said, poking Meiko's knee. Meiko yelled and fixed Lola with a stare. Lola got the gist. "Oh."

Kaito was busily humming to himself as he unwrapped his 6th band-aid. "This time for sure!" He said cheerfully.

Crossing her arms, Meiko turned stiffly away as he finally applied the band-aid to her now throbbing knee. Then she felt Kaito tap her shoulder. She looked at him.

"Don't worry, if you get hurt again, I promise I'll be there to help you." He said softly. All her anger melted away, and then came back when he said, "Alright, year 2 is finished! Thank you, thank you very much!"

She got up and flounced off, Lola following swiftly behind. But, as she reached the school's exit, whispered, "Thanks, Kaito."

Hmm . . . a little cheesy, I know. But . . . they're only 7, so no real drama is occurring yet. Anyway, hope everyone likes the new update, I am so so so so so so so so so so so sorry about not writing for a while. Remember to read and review! Reviews make more chapters!
