Here's the second chapter. Its a bit shorter, and was originally part of the first, but I wanted to cut it into two for ~suspense~ purposes. Just as a reminder, I don't own anything from twilight.

Elisabeth had come to America not long after having been turned. Seeking a way to forget her past, she found solace in the quiet forests of New England. Having lived in Maine for many years, she soon moved down to the quiet areas of Connecticut. The streets of downtown Hartford were filled with drug addicts, giving her plenty of feeding options and the quiet of the forests in surrounding suburbs offered her the tranquility she lacked in her human life. She fell into a routine.

But now she was tired. The forests, once calming, now offered her nothing but silence. She was left with only her thoughts and resentment. Hatred and helplessness grew within her. Her will to live, barely existent before, disappeared. She tried everything. Starving herself was effective for suffering, but soon her instincts got the better of her. She tried tearing off her own limbs, starting with her left arm. Despite how desperately she tried, she could not, and she supposed that it was probably her own survival instincts kicking in.

After years of trying, she came to the conclusion that the only way to die was with the help of others. Few nomads passed through these parts, and she wondered where she might be able to find one willing. Elisabeth remembered hearing stories of vampires in Italy, perhaps they would? But the thought of returning to Europe was revolting; she swore she would never return, and so that quickly became her last resort.

And then, as though God above was making up for his past crimes, a new coven moved to the area.

She noticed them first on her nightly stroll through the forests. Cloaking herself, she often walked the expanse of the town, letting the silence of the night fill her core. Coming upon the house, she decided to remain hidden, watching cautiously from paces away.

They were a large coven. Each seemed to be paired off, which odd. Usually, there were not so many mated pairs together in a coven. Judging by the dynamic, the eldest, blonde haired man was the leader along with his caramel haired wife. Uninterested in them, Lis turned her attention to the next pair, a tall, burly male and his mate. She was gorgeous, Lis noted, even by vampire standards. She was also sad. It was an unfortunately beautiful combination. Next to her was a small, pixie-like vampire. She was bouncing around, talking excitedly about school? Did these vampires try to blend in with humans? Confused, Lis took in the male next to the excitable girl. He was calmer and smiling indulgently. His posture and stance gave him away, though, and she was clearly able to pick out his soldier background. The hidden girl wondered what war he fought in, but most importantly, which side he fought for.

The last group was odd. There were two more vampires. One with unruly bronze hair and the other his dark-haired mate. She was talking quietly with a girl who appeared to be their daughter. The resemblance was uncanny, but how was that possible? Listening closely, Lis noticed the heartbeat and flushed cheeks, yet also watched her speed up to her room and back. Was it possible to be a hybrid? Curious, she crept closer to the housing, making sure that she fully cloaked herself.

The girl, Nessie based on what her mother called her, looked younger than the others, not only in age but in her eyes as well. She was most likely the newest edition. Now that she was closer, Lis was able to appreciate the delicious smell the girl exuded. She smelled like crisp blueberries and fresh streusel, and it set her at ease immediately. Looking closer, she found that her eyes, unlike the eyes of her family, were brown, practically caramel colored. She was beautiful.

A man appeared next to her, tall and dark. He towered over the others, but his imposing nature was offset by the sunny smile he wore. It was clear he was no vampire, but he reeked of wet dog, so Lis supposed he was likely some other supernatural creature. Surprisingly, she felt herself holding back a growl as he wrapped his arm around Nessie. Deciding she had learned enough, Lis left the property.

There was a lot of them. Surely one of them would be willing to help her out? As she wondered, her mind was filled with images of Nessie, and for the first time, she felt like maybe death wasn't the solution. But the moment passed, and the memories of her human life flooded back, and Lis sighed. She would observe for a few more days before approaching.

Lis stood before the family, patiently awaiting their answer to her request. Based on the shocked expressions on their faces, she assumed they would deny her request. The boy who turned into a wolf stepped forward, and she was immediately overcome with instant relief as she realized someone would fulfill her request.

The bronze-haired boy glanced at the wolf and the girl behind him before shaking his head. "No Jake."

Funnily enough, the wolf looked shocked but this and seemed to gesture to Lis with his head. She cocked her head. Their communication confused her. Maybe the boy could read minds. It would make sense. If he could read minds though, wouldn't he understand her wanting to die?

The leader, Carlisle, spoke again. "I am sorry, I don't understand."

Lis sighed. It was a simple request. How could one not understand? "I would like for you to kill me."

She looked at them expectantly. The sad, beautiful blonde girl looked at Lis with a compassionate look of understanding, as did the caramel headed matriarch. The soldier furrowed his brow and stared her down before turning slightly away, relaxing his posture, and seeking relief in his bubbly mate, who was looking at Lis with confusion.

"But you're not supposed to die. I've seen it. You're to become part of this family."

The others looked at the pixie and then Lis with new interest. They all dropped their stiff stances, the shield fell away, and the wolf trotted around the house, emerging seconds later as the boy again, this time in only a pair of cut off shorts.

Lis, with a new view of Nessie, drank in her appearance again. She really was a beautiful as she first appeared. It was a shame she would die without getting to know her. The thought made her chest ache. Of course, Lis would be drawn to the coven that was to kill her. God had always loved screwing her over.

The statement of the inky haired girl sank in, and Lis whipped her head back to her. Seen it? Part of their family? So she's a seer. Lis made a mental list of all the abilities they seemed to have: a seer, a mind-reader, and a shield.

"You are a seer?" The girl nodded. "You are always right?" Hesitantly, she shook her head. "Then this is one of the times you are wrong. I have no interest in joining this coven. I simply wish to return to my family. So please, if you would be so kind, I ask that you help me with my request."

The wolf spoke up. "I would love to, bloodsucker. Just say when and where."

Lis smiled, relieved one of them saw reason. "Here and now works just fine for me."

He seemed surprised by her answer, but before he could question it, Carlisle spoke again. "Perhaps we can take this inside. I would like to understand more before we continue. Would that be alright with you?"

Pondering the question, Lis nodded, seeing no harm. Maybe if she explained they would help her out.

Renesme sat in the living room numbly. Jake stood protectively behind her. Her family was seated in a semi-circle around the stranger, closing her in. She didn't seem nervous, but Nessie sure was. Surely her family wouldn't kill this girl, right? Surely Jake wouldn't kill in cold blood.

"As I mentioned earlier, my name is Carlisle Cullen. This is my wife, Esme, and our children: Edward, Bella, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper. Our granddaughter Renesme and the wolf is Jacob."

The girl nodded a greeting, eyes lingering on Renesmee. Her lip curled at the sight of Jacob, and Ness suddenly felt uncomfortable with his overbearing presence.

"I am Elisabeth." She spoke shortly, but Renesmee was drawn in by her voice. It was husky and deeper than she thought, and her voice was accented. It was captivating.

"So why do you want to die?" Emmett blurted out before receiving a swift elbow from Rose. Ness shook her head at her uncle's lack of tact but was interested in the answer just the same.

Elisabeth shrugged. "Why do you want to live forever? It is personal. Does the answer affect the outcome?"

Wow, could she be any more cryptic?

Esme cleared her throat. "Dear, I am sorry to disappoint you, but we are not killers. We could not just harm you without cause."

For her part, Elisabeth looked confused. "Is it harm if I ask for it though? Its a favor not an act of malice."

Edward looked uncomfortable. "Maybe for you, but not for us. It would wear on our conscious. And Alice's vision, I saw it. You are a part of the family in the future. It was quite clear." He glanced so quickly in her direction that Ness barely noticed it. "You become very important to us."

"I don't want that, and it is selfish to keep me from my wants simply due to a flimsy vision and your own personal feelings."

"You cannot run from the future," Alice said knowingly.

"If you all will not help me, I will find others that can." Elisabeth straightened up from leaning on the wall. Her walls had come back up; she no longer looked resigned and tired by confident and sure. She wore her silence as armor and used it to rise up. "I will leave this place soon, do not worry. It was nice meeting you all, thank you for hearing me out."

She flickered out of existence. Unlike before, Alice sighed, knowing she was truly gone.

Renesmee's heart ached.

The forest was still, and Jasper listened for the heartbeat of the deer to ring around him. Lunging forward, he trapped and drained his pray. Near him, Alice and Edward did the same.

Once they all finished up, they came together. The air around them changed, became foreboding and worrisome.

"When we gather later, there is much we need to discuss." Edward started. "I couldn't hear her, it was silent. It most likely has to do with her gift, but it is something the family needs to know."

Jasper agreed. "Her feelings were muted. I felt her and felt their presence, but I could not differentiate her emotions from those of our family. It was as though they blended with the others. When I concentrated on just her, it felt like she had no feelings there."

Alice shook her head. "Despite what she said, the future is still clear. She will become a part of the family." She glanced at her husband and brother. "I'm assuming you both have come to the same conclusion that my vision gave me."

Edward sighed. "I heard Ness's thoughts, I saw the vision, but I don't understand it."

"Ness felt drawn to her, I know that. But it was not the same as her feelings for Jacob. I can't quite figure out if that supports your vision or not."

Alice sighed. "Whatever she was thinking or feeling now, it changes. The very fact that I can see her future so clearly indicates Jake is no longer in it the way he was before meeting Elisabeth. But the contents are clear. Renesmee and Elisabeth are, or will be, mates."

So...what do we think? Moving too fast? Not good character development? Please let me know in the reviews and I will do my best to do better. I spit these two chapters out pretty quick, but moving forward don't expect such quick updates. I will do my best to update every week, but no one's perfect. Anyway, please review, favorite, follow, and whatnot. I appreciate it!
