Bowie held a permanent scowl on her face. She may has well have been her very own owl. She sat hunched over on a snow covered bench. A worrisome thought came to mind when she wondered how the weather drastically changed by itself. Narrowing, her grey green eyes she had a suspicion-wanting to slap herself upside the head.
"Frost!" A lame excuse of an english accent quipped as the ginger sat himself on one side while his twin sat on her other side. A cheeky grin placated his face, slinging an arm across her shoulders. "What's got you all moody?"
The play on words, caused her to glare at the Weasley twins. She happily shoved the arm belonging to Fred Weasley from around her. She was sort of friends with the pranksters while able to maintain a distance from them. She kept her distance from everybody she came across.
"What's got you all freckle-y?" Bowie countered. Her eyebrows furrowed in her anger. She liked hanging with the red headed trouble makers, but sometimes; they got on her nerves.
George snickered from her right side, causing her to shake a bit.
Bowie sighed, not realizing how close either of the two had really gotten to her. Still, she remained oblivious to the subject. It was always easier that way.
"Nice one, Frosty!" George grinned from ear to ear.
Fred had gone red in the face. A scowl etched onto his face. "Hurtful." He murmured under his breath, but she was able to catch the one word.
"You're the dorks who chose to bother my safe thinking spot," Bowie chided, lightly biting the inside of her cheek. She noticed the snow was no longer in sight. She'd get in trouble for what she'd done if ever the ministry were to find out. She had lost control of her emotions again. "Speaking of..."
"We came to pay you a visit-" George began to explain their sudden appearance when his other half continued for him.
"To cheer you up-"
"After we heard you ran off-"
"No doubt from him." Fred bitterly finished for his twin.
Bowie felt her head splitting at how they were able to finish their sentences. She trailed off more into her thoughts. She was thankful she didn't have an annoying twin brother or sister. Only, the Weasley twins were close to being just that with their antics. She shook her head to rid herself of her light thoughts, turning to dark. "Him?"
George straightened up, moving closer to her. A frown on his face. "Your older brother, of course."
Bowie mentally groaned. She decided never to confide in Plotter ever again. She liked her new nickname for the boy who lived.
"Hear I thought we were discussing-" Bowie bit down harshly on her tongue at the silent thought of her next words. She couldn't believe she almost got off topic, trying to joke. She grimaced, hating herself while not showing it.
"We were...erm...eavesdropping?" Fred spoke, questioning himself on the matter. An uneasy look in his light eyes.
"It was meant to be a surprise visit." George quickly added. Both twins seemed oddly distressed for her sake.
"We're here for you, Bowtie." Fred announced, patting her back.
Bowie quickly stood up to get away from their cheerful auras. She faced them, looking as if they drowned her kitten. "I'd prefer Bow, you nitwit. I'll see you when the semester begins."
The twins exchanged a look, somewhat mixed with amusement.
"And, where do you think you're going?" They asked in unison. Both were on their feet in a heartbeat. Identical cheshire grins spread across their faces like they knew something she didn't.
"We were thinking it over-" Fred began.
"More like talked," George intervened only for Fred to chime in.
"You'll be-"
"Staying with us-"
"Until it's time to return to Hogwarts." They happily spoke in unison.
Bowie knitted her eyebrows in confusion. She processed their words about to protest when memories of her brother abusing her resurfaced. Fresh in her mind. "Why can't I stay with Plotter instead?"
The twins bore identical smirks.
"Your little boyfriend," George started until he shook his head. "Or rather older boyfriend is already staying at the burrow for the summer."
Fred snorted, whacking his twin upside his head. "She's not interested in our kind."
George bore a confused expression. He let his eyes rake over Bowie, crossing his arms befuddled by the prospect. "Our kind?"
Bowie wanted to laugh at their ridiculous theories. Smirking, she kept her mouth shut to hear more of their absurd remarks.
Fred smacked a hand to his face. He shook his head, causing his ginger hair to become an uneven mess. He turned to George, full on glowering at him.
"She doesn't like muggles-" Fred started while George cut him off with an assumption.
"So, wizards?" George asked, watching his twin grow even more irritated. He began to become thoughtful.
"She doesn't like wizards, either." Fred shook his head, patiently waiting for his twin to make the accurate guess.
Bowie folded her arms, grinning like a madman at their assumptions. She softly bit her tongue, wanting to say something smart while refusing to interrupt their banter. She didn't mind them bickering back and forth, because it made her day while she found other people bickering; annoyed her greatly.
George really thought about it. His golden brown eyes widened. He raised a quizzical ginger eyebrow at his twin. "She's not-"
"She prefers animals over-" Fred attempted to cut him off.
"Oh Godric!" George shouted, catching the gaze of of New Yorkers passing their way. He tossed his hands up in the air, eyes wide. He looked like he was having a full blown anxiety attack. "Merlin's beard..."
Fred cracked a grin. He began to pat his twin's shoulder to soothe him. "There, there, Georgie. It's not that bad-"
Bowie rose an eyebrow at the panic ridden ginger. She sighed about to say something when George began another outburst.
"Not that bad!" George blurted, tears were pricking the back of his eyes. "Bowie Antoinette Frost is in love with creatures. How is that bloody good?!"
Bowie couldn't stop herself from giggling any longer. She turned a beet red when her fit of giggles, turned into harsh laughter.
Fred smirked, thinking it best to correct his twin. He motioned to the laughing girl. "She isn't in love with animals. She's in love with...uh...whatever her gender is."
George's breathing became normal. His questioning gaze, shooting from his twin to a-now-scowling female. He knew the conversation wouldn't end well. "You mean, girls?"
Bowie stopped laughing as Fred nodded in agreement. She coughed, clearing her throat to grab both their attention.
"I am not into girls, Freeselbee. I'm very much asexual. It doesn't make me lesbian. I'm simply not jumping for connection of any kind." Bowie growled, quickly educating the mislead redhead.
Fred matched the color of his hair. He looked like a woman scorned. "You're starting to sound like Granger."
"And, Malfoy." George added, slightly smirking. He shot Bowie an apologetic glance. "I didn't-"
"Look, I'm sorry I got mad, but people always jump to the wrong conclusions. This is why I like to be alone." Bowie lightly voiced. Her eyes softening whereas Fred still looked displeased with her new nickname for him.
"Mum will be waiting for us." Fred easily informed his twin while giving Bowie the cold shoulder. He turned his back to them, beginning to trudge away from central park.
"This is why you're my favorite girl," George softly smiled at Bowie. He flung an arm around her to steer her in the direction they'd be going.
Bowie smirked. "I thought Fred was your favorite girl."
George snorted, "hardly, he's my favorite twin."
A giggle escaped Bowie who pursed her lips into a tight line to keep from ruining anymore moods. She loved being in the cool atmosphere of New York, but she despised living with the brother who crossed the final boundary. She shuddered in disgust at the memory, moving from the skin contact of being pressed into George's side. She wanted to forget all the bad, and maybe when the new year at Hogwarts began she could be at ease.
