Day 1 of Rosie's Journal, September 17, 2009. 6 months along.

Dear Rosie,

Congrats honey! Today you're six months old. The doctor told me you're now opening your little eyes and moving around like crazy. Of course I didn't need the doctor to tell me that, you kick me every 4 minutes! I like it though, it makes me feel your presence.

This morning me and daddy went on a little shopping trip for you. We went to Hamley's and got you your very own rocking horse! Daddy didn't want to get it for you because he thought it was too dangerous, but I got it anyway.

We finished your room last night. It's beautiful! It's painted a light pink, with purple flowers everywhere. You have a white wooden crib, a rocking chair so daddy can rock you to sleep, and loads of teddy bears. (Mommy went a bit overboard). We also got lots of clothes from your aunts and friends. You have over 30 little dresses and loads of shoes.

** I've decided that I'm going to give you little lessons in some of these journals, to give you advice when I'm not there to give it to you.

Lesson Number 1

School, Grade 1.

Grade one can be hard, but just remember one thing, if you have friends that trust you, you'll do just fine. When I was in grade 1 I remembered being pushed around by a little boy and being called names. I went to my mother--your grandma-- and asked her why he did this. She told me 'it was because he liked me.' So the next day I walked up to the little boy and gave him a big kiss. And you know what he did? He told the teacher on me and I got a detention for disobeying the 'hands off policy.' So listen to me darling, just because a little boy is mean to you, do not kiss him. He may like you, but just to be safe, tell a teacher if he is bothering you. Your homework should be easy, but if it's hard, daddy will be there to help you. Also, if you're in French, you might have to get auntie Helen to help you, because daddy doesn't know any French at all. That's about it for grade 1. You'll breeze right through it, don't worry a bit. Remember mommy loves you, and she'll be there with you everyday.

Love,

Mommy.
