Kirby's Journey to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Chapter 2 - Let's go.

...

(*The Mushroom Kingdom*)

The Mushroom Kingdom, a peaceful fictional realm that people would consider the most famous of all kingdoms. Presented as a medieval monarchy. It is a thriving civilization run by the princess being either a ruler or heir. The people (who are mushroom head creatures called Toads) worked together to help make the kingdom a beautiful spectacle that it was. The Mushroom kingdom also features other species such as the dinosaur-like Yoshi, the turtle-like Koopa, and the typically antagonistic mushroom-like creatures called Goomba. But the kingdom isn't always peaceful as torture and evil always arrive. Most of them happen to be the work of the koopa king named Bowser, who would mostly kidnap Princess Peach. But a heroic red plumber by the name of Mario would always proceed to foil the koopa king's plans. But now it looks like this one is rather a difficult one.

The skies that used to blue are now entirely covered by dark purple clouds as if a terrible storm has arrive. The birds can no longer sing harmonious tunes while the flowers that have bloomed are dead or dying. The violent winds have increased their speed while everything is in a dastardly situation as if there has been a war. The kingdom isn't the same no more. The citizens including Mario and his friends have been kept locked up while their infant counterparts are kidnaped in each place far away from the castle. Speaking of which, Bowser has put an evil touch on Peach's castle as it was now transform into his own, bigger and impresive than his ordinary one. The residence outside the castle were place under a spell by the koopalings to work for them, even play with them. The reason of his plans that worked was that he somehow made a deal with a mysterious being and that he has done some 'uploading' powers for Bowser and the koopalings, such as being able to mind control anyone who gets in their way.

The koopa king finally got what he wanted. The kingdom was now free for him to take over with no one, not even the red plumber to stop him. And of course he didn't thank the strange being since he doesn't care or where he came from and he didn't even want to listen what he has to do in return (Much to the being's chagrin). Bowser casts a spell on Peach's throne, transforming it into a magnificent and even more sinister version of his own. "Ah yes, fit for a new king. Gwa ha ha ha!" He chuckled evilly. "I should've thought this years ago. I should thank whoever that weird guy is, but I don't. And I don't care." He took a seat and relaxed on his throne.

"Hey daddy." cried one of the koopalings. The koopa king look down to see that it was none other than his son, Bowser Jr.

"What is it now, son?" Bowser said.

"We captured all the babies of the kingdom, except for one." Bowser Jr explained.

"And who got away?" Bowser frowned, raising an eyebrow.

"Baby Mario." his son answered.

"WHAT?!" Bowser bellowed slamming his fist on the throne with fury, his voice even echoed through the vast halls. "That arch rival of mine's little bratty son got away?! Why didn't you and the others try to catch him?"

"We tried daddy, but he escaped into the portal when we captured Mario." The young koopa replied.

"The portal?" Bowser inquired.

"Yeah, he gave them those rainbow coins and made him escape to some different place." Bowser Jr respond.

The koopa king sits up from his throne with a determined expression on his face. "I have been foiled that red plumber for years and that his victory has irritate me in the head, but not for long. Something tells me that the brat will decide to return, that way we'll be ready for him. Be sure you and the others inform me of his return so that we'll track him down and show him what we mean. Understood, Junior?"

"Yes daddy." Bowser Jr nodded then left.

Bowser then sat back on his throne and sighed. "I'm sure that Mario's son won't be standing a chance since I'll make sure that my plan will succeed and stand above the rest." He thought bitterly.

(*Kirby's House/Popstar*)

Sunlight of a new lovely, crisp morning radiated through the open curtain on the circular window of Kirby's dome shaped abode. A new day has brought new possibilities for the residents of dreamland, yet it begins the adventure for the two youngsters. The light of dawn had shone over Kirby and Baby Mario, as if the sky is trying to wake them up.

Showered by the rays of the sun, the birds' morning chirps awoke Baby Mario. Still drowsy, he shuffled back and forth before rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Baby Mario looked around the house then his eyes winded as if he's about to be attacked. "Where am I again?" He then heard soft snoring and something soft he's lying on. He looks down below him and saw Kirby sleeping on a big pillow in a pile of blankets they're wrapped in. This made the toddler realize why he's in a place unknown to him. "Oh right, I'm away from home and now with...what's his name again? Kaby? Kerbi?"

Last night he wanted to sleep on top of Kirby and he admit to himself that his pink body feels soft like a cloud. He then started to hear Kirby's drowsy voice which startled him at first. But the puffball was still not awake. His eyes were still closed. "No...I'll never let you steal...steal the dream fountain's powers again...poya...leave the star rod alone," It's obvious that Kirby happens to be talking in his sleep. "You'll never get away with this Nightmare...or my name isn't Kirby."

"Oh so that's his name." Baby Mario giggled softly at this.

He then took a glace at the window and his face saddens. "Oh daddy, I wish I'm with you right now. I miss you so much." That was when the boy wishes to no longer be away from home for so long. They have a long journey ahead of them. He then rubs Kirby's chest front and back. "Kirby? Kirby, wake up."

The puffball slowly stirred tiredly with a moan.

"C'mon Kirby, we have to get up. We have to save my daddy." Baby Mario said.

"Oh...already?" Kirby groaned, feeling how quick morning has arrived. "Just...five more minutes...or ten, poyo...,"

The toddler still isn't going to give up. The child is determined to get Kirby up on his feet. "You promised, Kirby. We have to find those rainbow coins to get back home. Get up!" he pulled the puffball from the pile of blankets, dragging him onto the wooden floor. Kirby only moaned tiredly desiring to sleep some more. Baby Mario then hatched a mischievous plan. He then climbed on top of Kirby's stomach and bounces up and down on him like a trampoline. "Get up! Get up!" He chanted which caught the pink child by surprise.

"Okay okay poyo, I'm up." Kirby shouted before he quickly sits up on his feet. "Do you really have to do that, Baby Mario?"

"Yep, it's how I get mommy and daddy up." The boy said with a smirk. "That's what you get for being so lazy."

"Whatever poyo." Kirby sighed. He then noticed a Cookin wandering outside. He then hatch an idea. "You hungry? I'll make us some breakfast before we go. We can't start on empty stomachs, poyo." He then went outside.

Baby Mario follows afterwards and before he could protest his expression went by surprise when Kirby inhaled a small chef creature that was about to prepare himself a meal and transformed into Cook Kirby. The creature then makes a stove appear and starts mixing pancakes in a flash before he places the stacks on a plate.

Baby Mario was shocked, also impressed. "Whoa...how...how did you...," He was loss for words.

"Pretty cool right. I have the power to suck in enemies and transform into their power. Such as this poyo." He then shows him a plate of freshly made pancakes as Baby Mario sits on a rock in front of him. "Eat up, here comes the train."

He then shoves the spoonful of breakfast into the toodler's mouth. Baby Mario swallowed then frowned at the puffball. "Dude, I may be a baby but you don't know much about me. Please don't do th-," Kirby shoves the spoonful again, cutting the boy off.

"No no no, Baby Mario. Less talking, more eating." Kirby chuckled.

This made the boy more irked before he jerked one of the pancake from the stack and shoves it into Kirby's mouth. "You're welcome." The toddler smirked. The two did fight a bit while trying to feed each other yet it ended up with them tumbling with giggling as if they're calling it a truce. Yep, being a hero Kirby would never forget the promise he made to Baby Mario to rescue the Mushroom Kingdom. To go there they will need to collect the rainbow coins to create a portal to send them there. So with a warp star cell phone, some extra food Kirby made in case they got hungry, and filled with newfound hope, the two friends set forward to restore what's right, leaving behind the small dome shaped house and embarking on their new adventure.

Fantasy Forest.

A realm of tress and lush green areas similar to Green Greens and Prism Plains abundant by wild creatures. A person could hear the sound of a bird's wing cutting through the air along with butterflies while the waters are lapping. Kirby and baby Mario were sure that this is where the rainbow coins have landed. They chatted while trudging on the green hills that is so high that they can actually see King Dedede's castle from the distance.

"How many coins do we have to find?" Kirby asked.

"Six." Baby Mario answered.

"So, you're name after your dad right?" Kirby questioned again.

"Duh, what you think?" Baby Mario replied vividly.

"I was just asking, poyo." Kirby shrugged in defense. "Anyway, you're his only son?"

"No. I have a sister who's named after my mommy." Baby Mario said. "Baby Peach."

This surprises Kirby out of the blue. Another baby version? For real?! "Really, poyo?"

"Yeah, I also have cousins and...," Baby Mario stopped in his tracks as his face grew weary. Kirby noticed this and decides to ask.

"What's wrong?"

"I...I just remembered that...that they're captured by the koopalings and locked away in different places...," he answered as his voice sounded broken. He turns to the pink puffball. "Kirby we have to rescue my sister and cousins first when we get home."

"Okay, poyo. Don't worry Baby Mario, I'm positive we'll rescue them." Kirby said.

As they had just finished up their conversation they then found themselves on a thick tree before they then hop downwards from branch to branch as they were being carful not to shake the beehives. Until then when they hop on the final, they come across a long way down.

"Kirby I'm...I'm kinda afraid of heights. I would be using my flight power if we were at my home." Baby Mario said.

Kirby then inflated himself and floats his way above the toddler. "Poyo, grab onto my feet." He said.

With no further arguing and with a gulp, the infant version of Mario grab firmly onto Kirby's feet before the puffball's flight had pulled him off of his feet before finding himself floating gently down. Baby Mario tries not to look down while trying to keep his cool up.

"We're almost down baby Mario, poyo." Kirby replied.

Just then, a bomb was thrown at them and exploded above, startling them and knocking them from thin air. Kirby landed first on the ground right before Baby Mario bounces on his back before sliding on the ground. "What the heck was that?"

Kirby sits up before he noticed that he and baby Mario are encountered by a figure that surprises him. "Oh, it's you again." He frowned.

Wiz. A cunning yet ruthless magician that Kirby and his three copies have dealt with back at the frosty Peppermint Palace from the Mirror World. It seems like he won't let his old rival pass by without a rematch. Kirby then look at two objects on top of Wiz's hat and gave out a short audible gasp. One was the first rainbow coin while the other one is...a heart box?

Wiz disappears into his hat and taps his wand on the edge making the toy trucks magically appear. (Which impressed Baby Mario).

"Wow, toys!" He smiled in amazement. Kirby had to act fast and get the child out of harm's way.

"Watch out, poyo!" He warned before he picks up the toddler and avoided the traps which they drove towards the tree behind them before they exploded. This now scares Baby Mario.

"Ki...Kirby...what do we do?" He asked with a shaky tone.

"I'll have to take him down Baby Mario, poyo. He has one of the rainbow coins and we have to get it. You stand back and watch poyo." Kirby answered.

Baby Mario gave a nod before he hides behind the bushes to watch the battle.

Wiz rushed towards Kirby in attempt to ram into him, only for the pink child to jump out of the way before Wiz crashes his head into the tree. The magician regained consciousness before he makes more objects appear from his hat.

Kirby dodged two poison apples but got hit by a bomb. The puffball sat up before he was bashed in the face by Wiz's hat, crashing him into another tree head first. Wiz magically made more objects appear from his hat. Kirby this time inhaled a bomb and took a bomb ability. Like a flash of light, Kirby speeds past the magician leaving sevreal sizziling bombs surrounding him.

Helpless to do something, the bombs exploded which sends Wiz flying distance away, leaving his hat behind.

"Looks like that does the trick." Kirby chuckled at his pun, but received a glaze look from Baby Mario. "Okay, poyo."

They went over to the magician's hatand take the rainbow coin off the red strap. "We got one of the rainbow coins." Kirby said.

"Yeah, Wha-hoo! Only five more to go." Baby Mario cheered.

"But wait, what's the heart box for?" Kirby asked.

As if on cue, a figure of a hamster walks up from the bushes as he seems to be looking for something. "Where is it, where is it?" he whispers to himself.

Baby Mario hids himself behind Kirby. "Who's that?" he whispered to the puffball.

"It's okay Baby Mario." Kirby answered then turned to the hamster before he called out; "Hey Rick?!"

Rick turns his attention to Kirby before ue smiles. "Oh, G'day Kirby." he greeted.

"Hi Rick poyo, what're you doing here?" Kirby said.

"I was just looking for my gift and..., Say there it is!" Rick noticed the heart box and takes it out of Wiz's hat.

"Wait, this was yours?" Kirby asked.

"Well acually it is a gift that want to give for my girlfriend Pick." Answered the grassland hamster. "I was on my way back home but then that rude magician came in my way and snatched it from me. I spent an hour trying to find him until now you did for me. Thanks mate."

"Well, no problem Rick." Kirby replied.

Rick soon noticed Baby Mario hiding behind the pink child. "Say Kirby, who's your friend there?"

"Oh this is Baby Mario. He happens to be the son of Mario. You know, the one I told you about from Super Smash bros poyo." Kirby introduced the toddler. "His home is in danger and we're looking for the rainbow coins to get to the Mushroom kingdom."

With small confidence, Baby Mario appears himself fully to the hamster. "H...hi." he uttered softly.

"Hey there little mate. The name's Rick. So you're from the Mushroom kingdom eh?" Rick said.

"Yeah. Bowser and the koopalings took over my home and my mommy, daddy, and my cousins are in trouble." Baby Mario answered.

"Oh, that sounds rough." The mammal mused in response. "But say, I think I know where the rainbow coins are. You'll find them deep in the woods over there." He pointed to their right where the trail on the ground leads to.

"Okay poyo, thanks Rick. Tell Pick and the others I said 'hi'." Kirby waved before he and Baby Mario continued onward.

"Anytime mate. And good luck rescuing Mario and the Mushroom kingdom." Rick waved back before he walks off to another direction.

The duo trekked through the series of tress as Kirby (with Baby Mario on his back) hop through tall mushrooms over the river while swatting bothersome brunto burnts. Noticing the tall grass that are in their way, Kirby inhaled a Sir Kibble and transformed into his cutter form. The puffball sliced through the grass making the path easy for them to walk through before Baby Mario notices something shiny behind the flowery bush.

"Kirby, I think that bush is glowing over there." He pointed.

Kirby chops down the bush with his cutter and his hopes have been answered when he saw another rainbow coin before he grabs it. "Now we have two, poyo." He smiled. "Four more to go."

The two youngsters walk further into the forest and hop on the platforms with vines attached to them on the higher tree, being careful not to fall. The vines that are brown which it's platform they hop on started to snap, causing the platform to fall. "We're almost to the other side, poyo."

Baby Mario then noticed another rainbow coin caught on the tree branch sparkling. "Kirby, look up there. Can I get it?"

"Okay, but be careful poyo." Kirby grabs the boy and throws him up to the tree branch. Baby Mario caught the branch hanging down then proceeded to snatch the rainbow coin. "I got it." He thought with triumph. Soon the branch starts to snap. "Oh, no." He gasped before he starts to fall while screaming. Soon, he felt himself on midair and notices that Kirby has caught him while he inflated himself.

"You okay, poyo?" The pink hero asked.

"Ye-yeah..., thanks." Baby Mario nodded.

Both the toddler and puffball made it on the other side as Kirby sliced through more tall grass and some enemies that were in their way. Kirby then noticed something sparkling from under the forest lake. Determined, he decided to investigate. "Stay here, I'll be right back." He said to Baby Mario before he jumps into the lake. The puffball spits out bubbles at the blipper fishes since he can't inhale salty water. He soon noticed the fourth rainbow coin trapped behind the blocks. He spit bubbles at them and procceded to break them, revealing the rainbow drop. "Ah~ha." He gurgled happily. "So far so good. Poyo, just only two more coins left and we'll be able to get to the Mushroom Kingdom." He thought. The pink child grabs it before he swims back up to the surface. "Hey Baby Mario I...Baby Mario?" He noticed that the toddler wasn't present. "Hmm, where did he go?"

"Hey Kirby, what are those things?" He heard the boy's voice from distance. Kirby walks over where Baby Mario is at then gasped in horror when he saw several sleeping Scarifies. "Baby Mario no! Don't get close to them!" He runs after him, too late to stop the boy from tripping over a rock, disturbing the little creatures' sleep before they went into anger mode. They all glared evilly at Baby Mario who is now silently freaked out before they attempt to pulverize him. But Kirby grabs the boy just in time and runs off before being chased by the scarifies.

"What are those things Kirby? They didn't look scary when they were sleeping." Baby Mario said with fear while looking at the angry demons.

"Those scarifies may look innocent poyo, but not when you mess with them!" Responded Kirby while running more faster.

They ran for a couple of minutes while being chased as they avoided being swallowed up by the Paco creatures that peek out of the tree holes and being shot by the shnotzo cannons from the background. "Quick Baby Mario, in here poyo." They both went inside the last tree hole that is safe for them to hide. The scarifies didn't see where they're hiding at as they flew pass the tree searching for them.

They both sigh in relief since the coast is clear. "That was close, poyo."

"Yep. They must be stupid." Baby Mario nodded before receiving a disapproving frown from the pink child. "Urm, sorry I didn't listen to you Kirby."

Kirby stern expression softens. "It's okay, poyo."

"Hug?"

"Sure, poyo."

The two then shared their embrace as Kirby warps his stubby arms around Baby Mario as an add to his forgiveness. He then felt something behind him before they broke the hug and saw a treasure box that was abandoned. He looked at Baby Mario who just shrugged. Kirby opens the chest and reveals a the fifth rainbow coin.

"Whia poyo, it was in here all along?" Kirby said amazed. He was lucky that he thought of a plan otherwise they would've missed out on the tresure. They then walk out of the tree and continue onwards.

They spend a couple of minutes looking for the sixth and final rainbow coin. But where is it? They have to find it in order to get to Mario's world.

They then decided to rest beside the tall lion looking statune for a bit then it shook, startling both Baby Mario and Kirby.

"What the heck?!" Baby Mario exclaimed. His eyes then winded when he pointed. "Uh...Kirby?"

"Poyo?" Kirby questioned. He turns around and gasped when the statue appears to be alive and has the face similiar to Whispy Woods.

"I am Lord Machin, guardian of this forest! Prepare to be punished for tresspasing!" The statue roared in a deep tone expressing his bitterness. Kirby prepares himself for another battle.

"I'll let you handle this one." Baby Mario steps back and hides behind the tall grass.

(Boss Battle)

Lord Machin, Fantasy Forest's guardian leader.

Lord Machin slamed his stoned paws on the ground, causing giant exploding fruit to fall from the tress. Kirby avoided their popping attack and inhaled a few fruits and spit them at the living statue exploding them right at his stoned face. Lord Machin growled and blew violent winds towards the young star warrior. Upon hearing the exhalation of air, Kirby tries to jump out of the way but was swept up high from the grounds then slam back down face first. Kirby slowly sat up trying to ignore the pain as wipe a drip of blood from his lips. Lord Machin took a deep breath and spew series of flames. Kirby avoided the attack three summoned enemies; a sparky, a heat head, and a chilly fell from the tress. Kirby inhaled a sparky and transforms into Spark Kirby.

Lord Machin spits out four flaming balls as Kirby dodges each of them. He then charges up his plasma and shot the attack at the lion statue. Lord Machin snarled at the pink child before he summoned more falling exploding fruits fall. Kirby dodges them again before he zaps electric lightning at the statue. Lord Machin had enough of Kirby and swats him in the face with his stones hands, knocking him unconscious. He then grabs the pink child and prepares to breath out flames to burn him. Baby Mario gasped in horror. He then took one of the exploding fruit and aims it at Lord Machin's mouth. "Leave my friend alone you big meanie!" He shouted before he threw the bomb at Lord Machin's mouth.

The fruit exploded inside Lord Machin right before smoke arose from his nostrils as he dropped Kirby. It was enough to knock the living statue unconscious as he spits out the sixth and final rainbow coin. "Yes! We found the last one." Baby Mario cheered before he grabs it.

Kirby regained consciousness. "Po~yo?" He moaned before seeing that the deed is now complete and a success.

"Kirby look, we have all the rainbow coins!" Baby Mario said. "Now we can go back home and rescue my family."

"Really? Oh good, poyo. Now let's see what they can do altogether." Kirby sits up.

The place the rainbow coins on the ground before they started to glow and the ground started to shake. The coins started swirling more faster until they formed into a portal. Mario's world awaits for them. "C'mon Kirby, Let's a-gooooooooo!" Baby Mario jumps down the portal.

Kirby takes one last look at his home. He knew he had to keep a promise to help Baby Mario. Plus, there is evil waiting for Baby Mario to return at the Mushroom Kingdom so the pink child had to keep the toddler safe while venturing with him. He then takes a deep breath then jumps into the portal, leaving dreamland behind.

To Be Continued!

Will Kirby and Baby Mario be able to succeed, or will Bowser and the Koopalings have their last laugh?

I gotta say, quite a show. I did enjoy putting some funny senses to this chapter to make it more enjoyable to you all. Plus, this is the second crossover game adventure for Kirby besides my other story; Kirby and Steven Universe: Out of Darkness comes Crystal Light. (To which it has no connection to this story). Not everything has to be epic you know and I hope you people enjoy this chapter and more will be coming soon. Do I have to mention that the rainbow coins are not just something? Also, my birthday has passed 2 days ago and I just turned 17. Be sure to wish me a happy late birthday if you would like. Anyway, take care now readers and please review. Peace out!
