CHAPTER 2

"Contact Myria. Tell her to take the scrolls and bring them here. There are better equipment and materials here to ensure the safe keeping of the scrolls. We can translate them here as well." Bang ordered Jeon as he spread his wings to their full width in preparation for flight. "Contact me when the extraction team arrives."

Leaving Jeon on the office balcony, the Archangel of Korea stepped off and spread his wings. Using slow wing beats, he swept over his city as it now lay peacefully sleeping for the night. A few establishments were still open for the vampires and humans that roam the streets. Satisfied that tonight will be a peaceful one, he angled his body towards a non descript home on a street 2 blocks away from the Archangel Twin Towers.

The house with it's little front yard filled with a lush green carpet of grass, a few blossoming flowers that smelled of daisies and sunflowers, and a tiny inflatable ball near the white fence, was always a welcome sight to his eyes. This home with the black roof and grey walls with a small porch with creaking wood floors stands beside other houses that looked much the same on the outside. As Bang slowly descends on the front yard, an old lady with a cane made of silver comes out the door - grinning from ear to ear. Bang notices the wrinkles around her eyes, the way the veins in her hands stand out - but still the human approaches him with no reluctance whatsoever.

Landing in the middle of the yard, the Archangel made a show of closing his wings for the woman who was now standing in front of him, both hands clasped on top of her cane. Looking up at him, the old woman said, "Annyeonghaseyo, Archangel." She bowed at a ninety degree angle, showing respect to her archangel. She smiled once more. "It's been a few weeks since you last visited my home. Surely, you have new tales of adventure for me?"

"Lady Dawon, you know that as an Archangel I have many things to tend to on a day to day basis." He tilts his head a bit. "But yes, today I have adventures from my youth that I wish to share with you." Looking straight into clear chocolate brown eyes, it was still unclear to Bang how a spirited old lady such as Lady Woo Dawon captured his attention five decades ago.

As he looked at her now, her once brunette hair has faded into an ash gray, her youthful and vibrant skin - now paler and wrinkled. It was her eyes that remained the same - still full of life, full of curiosity as she continued to look him in the eye.

No other human had dared to come close, much less be able to interact with him. The only reason why Dawon was able to tolerate being so close to him was because he let her. And she will be the only human that will ever come close as to what people call a friend.
