Prologue
First Encounters
-Oh Sweet Angel don't cry, let thy tears dry-
Once a story is told it could be said many different ways, but this tale be told in first light. It all began on the eve of October 31, 19888, it was a dreary eve a few stars lit the sky while the moon barely shone. In a park at Private Drive we meet an injured Hermione Granger; a nine-year-old girl, who was teased and ridiculed by her peers sat on the swing crying, her tears falling on her scraped knee, she was impulsively intelligent for kids her age. She sat broken and battered, both mentally and physically.
"Hey there, are you alright?" A voice said, she didn't look up though, she kept her head on her arms.
Then she spoke her voice shaking, "W-what d-d-does it look like?"
"Stupid question."
"W-who are you?"
"I'm Harry Potter. I haven't seen you around here, are you new."
"Hermione Granger, my family and I just moved in last summer and got settled."
Then she looked up, his eyes were the image of worried and sincere, something she was not used to. People were never truthful to her, well except her parents and teachers, but her peers or other kids above her age were never kind to her. Harry seemed to have this genuine sense of care in his features, and his eyes were like soft emerald pools full of care and concern, he was crouched down in front of her as if portraying that he meant her no harm.
"I live down in number four." He tells her.
Her eyes widened, "Really! I live just three block down yours."
"I wish I met you sooner, it would have been nice to have a friend."
The forlorn tone in his voice caught her attention, did I hear him right? –she had a hard time believing that a boy this kind and humble was friendless, he seemed like a really likable boy and he also seemed to be mature compared to the other boys their age, it didn't escape her that that he was younger than her, that fact didn't bother her though.
"You seem like an approachable guy Harry. Surely you must have friends of your own."
Said boy bowed his head, "No, my unfortunate life has lead me friendless and a lone, I lost my parents when I was a few months old and was sent to live with my loving relatives, my cousin and his bookends have kept other people from approaching me in school, all of the other kids are scared of him."
"I'm sorry I just…"
"It's fine really, I suppose this is a destined meeting, It's almost like our problems have lead us here."
"I'm glad I met you Harry Potter, you seem like a good guy and I would really like to be your friend."
"You're not so bad yourself Hermione Granger. Now, how about you tell me what has happened to lead you all in tears?"
"My school mates tend to be snide when it comes to me, they treat me like I am different because of my intelligence, others talk about my appearance."
"You do seem like you're mighty smart, I think they are just jealous of it. I can tell you love to read, you could buy a whole library if you wanted to and live in it for years. But hey there's nothing wrong about that, I love to read too! Books are really the only things that keep me sane in my relative's house, they're horrible to me."
"Do they mistreat you Harry?"
"My uncle and cousin tend to physically abuse me, while my aunt makes me do all the chores, Honestly, they don't even feed me that much, my bedroom's a cupboard for Merlin's sake!"
Hearing his home life made her tear-eyed once again, how could they treat him that way? He was such a nice boy, very humble and caring beyond belief, she couldn't fathom why his relatives would treat him that way, she felt bad for him, what's supposed to be a home turned out to be a prison. Then she looked at her watch, it was getting quiet late.
"I guess I should be heading home; my parents might be worried where I've gotten off to."
"Well, how about I walk you home, yeah? I mean it's the least I can do; after all it is getting dark."
"Thank you Harry."
"No problem."
Friendships anew, never fail to fill youth's everlasting hue.
Well Here's the first chapter of the rewrite. I hope you'll all like it! So Harry and Hermione meet for the first time and strike a friendship with each other. I know they sound mature for their ages, and I'll explain that.
First off, they've both had ruff childhoods. Hermione with being mistreated by her peers, and Harry being abused at home. They've grown up way faster than kids their age, but of course they'll still do activities children do and have fun as the story goes on.
Secondly, Hermione's parents opened a practice in Surrey, thus, having to move into Private Drive. They moved in when she turned Seven.
Other questions will be answered in the next chapter.
